Hey all, starting to really get worried we may host the first damp squib world cup ever. Does ANYONE know ANYONE who's coming over? From the few people I've spoken to in the UK it seems as though there are going to be very few visitors. I think for South Africans who tend to follow the Premier League very closely, many were looking forward to a ton of English fans coming over like they do for the cricketers and Lions, but it seems the figure could be no more than 20,000 - apparently the price of flights has put a lot of people off. Also a lot of Aussies and a few Yanks on this forum - should we be expecting many of your compatriots?

don't agree -- I will be VERY surprised if we don't see him at Newcastle within a few weeks -- will give him time to get into the swing of things in time for their return to the prem next season.

doubt it's a scam but flippin' hell if the website is anything to go by it could be pretty shite! there will be plenty of ordinary accomodation available with tons of people renting out their homes here (me included!) so don't think accommodation will be a massive issue. important to know that for those of you who do come down is that joburg and pretoria really are shitty places to be - the only upside being their relative proximity to the major game farms, although the western cape does also have a few nowadays.......if you have a choice and can get tickets to the games, cape town is really the only place where you'll also be making a good holiday of your trip! having said that durban at that time of year will offer you warm weather and beaches - cape town will give you a proper winter! joburg will give you good weather in the day, freezing nights, and a big ugly city to spend your time in!

I've just got confirmation of my tickets for the WORLD CUP FINAL and my general mood is disappointment!!! glad so many on this forum have managed to get their tickets - I tried to source tickets on the internet or through any contacts but only found 500 pound+ tickets and 2 attempted scams....

.......okay, so unfortunately all my suspicions confirmed! when I lived in London I was following the team every week with the London supporters club, including a whopping 8 of us who made the trip to ashton gate -- slightly different situation this , and happily so! anyway, starting to pull in my dodgy contacts from SA and abroad......financially this is becoming a very expensive few weeks -- a flight to london, black market tickets, getting my world cup tickets this week.......AND........I got married 2 weeks ago............all in the middle of a global depression.................who cares!!! we goin' back to wembley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so now the hunting begins. A mate and me are planning to fly up from South Africa for the final. Is the only way to get match tickets via touts or these expensive online sellers (who are charging 75 pound more for the everton tickets than the chelsea ones)? I assume the club allocates all its tickets to seasonholders and those with X number of ticket stubs. Is there any other way to apply for tickets? thanks

watching the incident live on tv I thought definite penalty, but couldn't decided after seeing the replays. I reckon riley was undecided and therefore didn't give it BUT also didn't book wellbeck. Had he been sure either way he'd have given a penalty OR a yellow, so in that situation you have to say he made the right decision. not convinced either way about our shout in the 1st half, so either way I think the two offset each other. shit game, neither side deserved to got through, but who cares, I'll take it - what a day!!! now gotta book a flight to london!!!
