Awful first half, average second half. Really hoping its the jet lag and quality opposition we played in the USA that's tired them out. This weeks training needs to be light exercise and intense positioning. Betis can feel very hard done to, but that said our defence stood up to pretty much everything they threw at us. Distin looked solid, Coleman had a good game and Baines grew into it. Jela and Mirallas played very well but should've seen red, Barkley average and also lucky to be on the pitch. MOTM is Howard though, would've been an embarrassing defeat but for his contribution. I want Cedric signed on that performance alone!

agree to disagree then. There's no denying his drop in form but I'm not prepared to write him off. Back to the match - rubbish really. Defence seems very shaky, lots of individual errors.... Both big parts of Wigans troubles last season. No midfield, and lucky to have 11 players on the pitch, Barkely and Mirallas should be off. On the plus side, clean sheet so far thanks to T-How, Jela scoring again, Baines seems to be waking up

have you seen how far back he's sitting?! That's not a CM position. Not sure how you can say he doesn't create, when he never gets a chance to play there his shooting isn't great but he can create and he does score.

ACM is his best position, you're plain wrong he's not even playing CM, he's DCM and too deep. Great tackle from Baines, and great turn at the other end - that was a pen.... Kevin a bit lucky there....
