  1. FA statement on Haaland; "An inquiry into the unacceptable conduct by Erling Haaland in the 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur has been held. Following remonstrations with referee Simon Hooper, the Manchester City player subsequently tweeted 'Wtf' in response to a video of the passage of play. The FA take such actions extremely seriously and have thus decided to dock Everton 5 points" Merseyside VS Manchester Banter Page | Facebook Thought that was very funny!
  2. Massive result - not just for the points on the board but the morale.
  3. Nicely written article. The point (IAN HERBERT: The goalposts moved in Everton's case...that's why punishment is so unfair | Daily Mail Online) brings up about 'moving the goalposts' regarding the interest on loans is absolutely critical. I think our appeal lawyers will do better to focus on points of law rather than merely pleading against the severity of the sentence. Seems to me the PL have acted disingenuously as well as disproportionately and we should be going after them. The arbitrary imposition of the sentence mid-season also punishes the club, affecting morale and performance. I hope for an excoriating attack on the PL in our appeal with whatever legal action taken against them if they are indeed acting mala fides, in bad faith.
  4. Not just the Duchy of Cornwall; they're seizing assets from the Duchy of Lancaster, too. Revealed: King Charles secretly profiting from the assets of dead citizens | King Charles III | The Guardian
  5. You mean the old Everton! The new Everton are made of sterner stuff! The mental toughness will be tested and the referee will undoubtedly favour United - but I think the crowd will give us the extra 10% and we get the win.
  6. You keep out of this, Palfy! Steve's doing a grand job.
  7. Why, thank you, Steve - that makes me feel much better!
  8. Disappointing to see I'm still below average in every category - a point my good wife makes clear to me - so I shall go with: Everton 3-1 Manchester United DCL and hope for a, er, good performance.
  9. Immense display from them. Temper, ability, steel. Hats off.
  10. Marsh's wicket has made Australia think again. A lot rides on Smith, I think.
  11. Fantastic display from the Aussie bowlers. India all out 240. It's now on Bumrah and Shami to produce something magical for the hosts.
  12. Thought these were interesting. 'For example, a deliberate cynical breach of the PSR to achieve a sporting advantage might increase culpability beyond that already arrived at by the extent of the breach. We do not think that this is such a case. Everton may have taken unwise risks, but it did so in the mistaken belief that it would achieve PSR compliance: it is not a case of a deliberate breach.' 'The Commission is satisfied that Everton’s PSR calculation in relation to 33 stadium interest was less than frank. The Premier League has made it clear that it makes no allegation of dishonesty. We consider, therefore, that Everton did not consciously intend to circumvent the Rules but there is no doubt that it failed to discharge the duty of utmost good faith imposed by B15. This is an aggravating factor that increases Everton’s culpability.' The ten point deduction is for being badly run. I think that will be reduced on appeal. The PLC may well be out to get us, and prove they have balls, but it once again shows how poorly we have been run since Moshiri took over. Colin Chong looks like a rabbit in headlines. I am hoping the club's lawyers won't be.
  13. An excellent contest! I guarantee India won't have a pitch like this for the final.
  14. Showing class is the main thing and you can do that from any background.
  15. If it wasn't against Australia, I'd be made up!
  16. Note to self - if ever I have the good fortune to meet Steve, wear a polished brogue on the left foot and a dirty trainer on the right so he can't make assumptions about me.
  17. I'm actually getting bored of these big scores. India 397 for 4. The wicket is just so flat. Long for the days when 250 was a challenging score.
  18. We aren't the finished article, but we are becoming very dogged and tough to play. That was another great away win. All credit to Dyche for changing the mentality.
  19. Maxwell for Australia yesterday Max Wall for England today. Bunch of clowns. Irrespective of the score today, there is no excuse for the cowardly approach. That's all mental.
