Yeh I don't get the Froch nomination for this. I like him as a fighter (although I prefer Groves) but I'm not sure what the nomination is about this year. McIlroy to win for me too. Wouldn't know the majority of the others of I bumped into them in the street.

Hamilton is a weird one. I like him but I can see why a lot of people don't warm to him. I've heard that his new challenge outside of F1 is to be a singer... hmmmm.

Good performance across the pitch and a well deserved win. Wolfsburg have lots of shots but so many of them are from outside the box. I dont think anyone had a bad game, Jags and Distin were excellent, Hibbert kept getting caught out of position but then making up for it and Garbutt could have been playing LB for us for years and while I dont think he was perfect he was bloody good on the whole. In the centre of midfield we were solid, Besic was slow to start with and took responsibility when McCarthy went off. The latter was playing well until he got injured and hopefully he wont be out for long. Osman did a good job in there too and his part in one of the goals (or possible both) along with the McGeady chance was huge. Mirallas and McGeady were both in and out. Mirallas is coming back to fitness and its to be expected and he finished his chance well. McGeady worked his nuts off but when that little bit of quality was needed whether it be a pass or a shot he generally cocked it up. Even little underhit or overhit passes when we could have been on the break and leaving the side exposed. Etoo did well but he wasnt at his best today and Lukaku did really well for the most part, scoring one, setting the other up and generally doing well with his all round game. Good strong performance and to think we have effectively beaten the current 2nd best team in Germany 6-1 over two legs is very impressive!

Jagielka for me, thought that was his best game so far this season. Everyone played pretty well on the whole and Lukaku showed his class at times today. McGeady disappointed me a little, he put in a real shift which was really good to see but just fucked things up when it was easier to finish them off. Talented but so frustrating.

I love Bellew and I think he does a great job at promoting himself. He probably wouldn't be in the position he is now if he hadn't of done so. Glad he beat Cleverly as I can't stand him but unfortunately as soon as Bellew steps up to the next lever he will be outclassed. I'm amazed AJ beat Sprott in the first too. He needs to be tested but they can't find anyone to do it.

I do think Ross should have laid the ball off earlier but he did well to do what he did. He certainly didn't deserve the crap he got from Hodgson. His comments after games are disgraceful too. If he is that worried about conceding he shouldn't be bringing on a player that will want to break forward at every opportunity. With Ross you either take that risk or don't bother playing him.

At no point in that interview has Martinez said he will play Hibbert at LB. He has just said he is versatile and can play in that position. I imagine the question Martinez was asked is something along the lines of 'would you play Hibbert at LB' and Martinez has been diplomatic in his answer. It's just shite journalism. I'd be gobsmacked if Hibbert starts left with Garbutt fit.

Jesus Christ thats a shocker... Especially as I really rated him! I had to even go back and make sure it was McCarthy I was talking about as I didnt believe it haha. I did change my opinion on him pretty quickly though and within 6 months I was a big fan! I must have been smoking something that day...

The thing is he didn't yell at Barkley after the time he slipped and lost possession, he actually shouted at him when he held the ball up about 25 yards out with 2 Scotland players around him before drawing the free kick. He had a point to be fair because he was yelling at Barkley to lay it off to someone else in space but Ross was more concerned about holding the player off in a potentially dangerous area of the pitch.

I think Klinsman released players to go back for the MLS playoffs but I might be wrong.

Yeh I noticed that as well... Bar Wilshere who needs grow some balls. Likes to play the hard man yet when someone breathes on him he goes down clutching anything he can.

That was actually one of the better England performances under Hodgson. Nothing special but disciplined and did what they needed to and created enough to see off most games. AOC, Milner and Wilshere worked well in midfield, Clyne solid enough at RB and generally the 5 across midfield is much better than the tossing diamond. It will be interesting to see how they would do against a stronger team. Generally I think Scotland ran their race on Friday and only threatened in brief spells. Naismith ran his socks off but showed no real quality throughout. Robertson was crap first half but showed some brilliance late on. Would like to see him some more.
