Put it this way, he would be disappointed to have conceded with any of those chances bar the one from Mirallas which was a cracker. I would actually say he has made a meal of some of these saves too. Gonzalez has been fantastic, Besler too. Origi has been great but he has to finish one of those chances.

Howard has only had 1 save that you wouldn't necessarily have expected him to save. Would put a few in this US team ahead of him in MOTM terms starting with Gonzalez.

If the USA want to win this game they have to score in the next 6 mins. Can't see them doing it in ET.

Mirallas has been different class since he has come on. Don't get why Mertens starts ahead of him.

Definite promise. It will be interesting to see how he does in this second half. The USA have started a little slow this half. Origi has started much brighter this 2nd half. Couple of nice touches and pieces of movement. Should have scored maybe but more like I was expecting.

Got to say that Origi has been a bit of a disappointment so far considering the game should be suiting him down to the ground. His pace is causing problems but his touch hasn't been as good as I expected. Mertens again has been poor and De Bruyne isn't bringing much to the table either. Felli and Witsel have also been much of nothing. No one has stood out for the USA but Zusi has been a weak link. He has been turned over too easily on a couple of occasions. The young RB that has come on looks a prospect though. Pace, vision and composure. He did well defending 1 v 1 against Hazard too.

Origi starts for Belgium. Looking forward to seeing him starting.

Fair enough Mike. It was a shocker really. Switzerland didn't offer a threat and Argentina looked like they were waiting for Messi to win it for them (albeit it he was average in ET too). Probably the worst game of the last 16 so far.

I wouldn't say robbery... Switzerland have been shocking too. If the US can get through against Belgium which I think they have a very good chance based on the group stage performances, and they would cause the Argies a load of problems.

Di Maria with the winner. He has been shocking all game but to be fair to the lad he has kept going, especially in ET and it was a cracking first time finish.

The only way Argentina are going to score is if Messi walks the ball over the line himself. He has tried to do a little too much himself at times but given what happens when he passes the ball to his team mates it's no surprise.

Naismith had mentioned that Martinez had said to him that he was looking to play him in a more central role. At that stage is was probably alongside Lukaku but that changed slightly when he got injured.

Really poor performance from Di Maria this half. Doesn't look like he wants to be there.

Bar Messi and to some extent Lavezzi this Argentina side are awful.

I disagree. Like I have said before McGeady was Jelavics replacement as he had eyes on moving Naismith forward. The impact the pair of them had was far greater than anything Jelavic would have contributed.

I think it's great news. At the very least it means that we should be able to get a transfer fee in 12-18 months time if it doesn't work out.

Bloody unlucky Algeria. Great game to watch. France v Germany will be a humdinger. It will be the perfect clash of styles and I think France will have that little bit more quality in the final third to expose Germany where Algeria couldn't. I would be benching Giroud mind.

I have never really seen a lot of him, especially not when he has been good in a game (most of the time he has been subdued) but the way France are playing is really suiting him and he has great feet. Completely agree about Neuer. He is the definition of sweeper keeper.

As I say that he has just wasted a great opportunity to play someone through.

Yeh he has looked sharp. Reminds me of another player but I can't think who.
