  1. I thought this was a rumour site, not a wish list based on having a bottom less pit of money and the ability to attract any player in the world?!?!?!?!?!? Van Nistelrooy.... Ronaldinho... it really is a poor indictment of the current transfer activity if the only posts on here are based on fantasy. I don't mean to crush anyone's dreams but can we return to reality with the posts please????? Hopefully the papers will link us to someone who a) we can afford to buy we can afford the wages of c) wants to join us d) someone else hasn't signed already, and e) Moyes actually makes a bid for As much progress as we have made over the past few years we are still a million miles away from attracting and signing the players some people are coming up with. Reality bites gentleman, but it's better than pretending your on a computer game
  2. In todays Mirror: Everton and Blackburn linked with Riki... think he's a Deportivo. Wants more first team action... Anyone know if he's worth a shirt?
  3. Russian football is awash with money a the moment. It is known that one of the Russian strikers is on £100k per week so I'd guess that Arshavin must be on the speculated £50k at least. As such I'd say the chances of him coming to us are unlikely based on the financials of the deal. At the end of the day he's doing a job and will hold out for the most money he, and his agent can get. How many players come to a club nowadays for the love of it, especially a foreign player with very little knowledge and certainly no allegiance to anyone??? It's a sorry fact that footballers, in the vast majority of cases will go to a club offering the highest money. Look at Fernandez last year with Valencia, look at every young English player that goes to Chelski. Signing Arshavin would be a massive coup for the club and provide some much needed attacking flair, however if another club offers the big bucks I know can guess which way he'll go. On a related note, Mike Ashley has demanded that the wage bill at Newcastle be massively reduced and according to todays papers the bar for salaries is £50k per week, so maybe they can't afford him either...???
  4. It's nice to see us competing with Man Utd and Arsenal for the signatures of these big name players but realistically this has got two hopes of coming off... and one of them's Bob! Smacks of the usual, annual press release from the club that happens a few weeks into the window when it's all quiet. Release us looking for a big name and it'll push the season ticket sales on a bit and raise the optimism amongst the fans. I'd love to be proven wrong but I've seen it far too many times to raise my hopes up. As stated in an earlier post, it's great to be linked with these players rather than bog trotters like Savage, but realistically this won't come off. A 12 month loan deal, whereby if he plays well his agent sells him on would do me fine, I'd have no problems with that at all (you're only as good as your last season) but the club can't even afford the wages of these players, let alone any fees. I fear this is yet another smoke screen.
  5. Everton link with the big names every pre-season in order to get the season tickets sold. After a few weeks of expectation, and no signings all the players linked with have signed elsewhere. Then we'll probably offer less for a player, a la Smith when he signed for Man U from Leeds. Seen Hunt on many occasions, single handedly ran the Reading midfield last year, looked good against us. Looks like a donut, will go to Sunderland based on Keane being up there but I wouldn't be unhappy if we got him. He would give us direct running and some bite in the midfield which we plainly do not have from Pienaar, Osman or Artets. I'd just be happy to see some signings made. Same every year, 2 months of window and all the signings are made after the friendlies have been played and season starts...
  6. Ramos said all bar Keane, King, Woodgate and a few others were for sale this summer. He wants to put his stamp on the team and as mentioned Spurs have already bought 2 central midfielders. Spurs are the same every year, want to splash £10m+ on all of their signings and are happy to recoup some by letting others go. I'd have Huddlestone any day of the week. Big, powerful, good passer, composed, young, what more do you want? I've seen him several times and he always looked to have ability. The "overweight" criticism gets banded around based on his appearance more than his performances. He's a big guy, Rooney looks overweight... £6m for him is a good fee. He's not a flair player so unlikely to command any higher. Would rather spend £6m on him and have him fill the gap left by Cars than spend £5m on Ramsey and have to break him in gently by using him as sub and for only half a season. Saying that, I also think Hunt would do a job for us- I accept that this isn't a popular shout but that's my opinion.
  7. I'm guessing the guy from Pompey but who knows??? From the strikers I'd happily take Yakubu as he'd give us a big striker that can score goals or Keane as he can play in the gap Cahill leaves every time he brekas his foot. Can't see keane leaving the bright lights of Spurs though. Fernandes aside, and it doesn't look like he's coming I wouldn't want any of those midfielders mentioned. Vastly overpriced and I don't think they'd add much to the team without unduly changing our formation. I still think we need a Sissoko/ Bouba Diop style player (not necessarily either of those two) who can command the midfield whilst Arteta and the others lads play football. It's good to hear that we are, at last, being linked with players even though i think all signings should have been sealed before the start of the season. We'll just see what happens. It's about time the board made some money available, it drives me mad seeing the likes of the newly promoted Sunderland etc spending big and buying all kinds and we continue with the one in, one out policy. Up the blues.
  8. The next post on that site re: Andy Johnson will undoubtedly be "Johnson moves to Magpies/ Arsenal/ Wigan for £8m". Then, about 2 or 3 days later it will be in the paper, "Moyes makes last ditch £4m bid for Johnson"... same thing has been happening for years. Then Moyes will come out and say "all the players I tried to sign went elsewhere"... same as every year. Try bidding for them before they sign for someone else then!!!!!!! As for Davies, wouldn't matter if everyone got behind him, he's shat.
  9. Van Nistelrooy won't join EFC for a number of reasons: 1. He's still in his prime 2. He's absolute quality 3. He's being offered £100k per week by Chelsea 4. He could go to any club in Europe and be there top scorer 5. EFC's policy of offering minimum wage and £5m lower than rival clubs means he's not going anywhere. Granted, Moyes has been able to purchase a few people who are surplus to requirements at UTD but VN is FAR from that, he's top drawer and Ferguson must be mad to let him go. 21 league goals, started about 30 or so games... he won't have Chang emblazoned acrss his chest next year that's for sure.
  10. Joleon Lescott has been looked at by all the big clubs, Arse, Man U etc about 2 years ago. None of them had any interest in him, and although we're unable to attract the same class of player (or any class of player) this does tell a tale. We should be looking to ADD to the squad, not replace Yobo with Lescott. DM is clueless in the transfer market, has no tactical know how and seems completely unable to hold discussions with top class players. Someone on the board should take their head out of their ar5e and tell Moyes that unless he starts buying players instead of "linking" the club with them a week after they've signed for someone else then he can do one.
  11. If Arteta goes then Everton shoulf lost the "F" in the EFC coz without him in the team they are a load of sh!te. No invention, no ability, no creativity, waste of time. If the lad does go then good luck to him. He's probably sick and tired of playing alongside some of the worst players in the Prem week in week out and fancies his chances playing alongside players of some ability. As for getting £7m for him, don't kid yourself, a mill and a UTD sub will be all we get, Moyes can't negotiate his way round a roundabout and Kenwright is off making a western play for the next 3 months. Hate to be the bearer of doom but we're fecked if he does go cos if the rumours about Yobo leaving are true then that leaves a paper thin squad of crap.
  12. What next, Kevin Ratcliffe and Derek Mountfield back with Graeme Sharp up front and Sheedy on the left curling the balls over. If Moyes is so devoid of ideas on how to strengthen the team then let him go. This season just shows you that the secret to last seasons success was that all the players contracts was ending and nothing to do with Moyes' motivational skills. I say bring a manager in alongside Moyes who knows how to manage a Premiership football club and ley Moyes run around in his tracksuit pulling faces at people.
  13. Jermaine Defoe is a big time charlie and there is NO WAY WHATSOEVER that he will sign for us. The only way he'd leave London for Liverpool would be for the other side of the park and the wages they pay. Moyes will offer him minimum wage and then scratch his head wondering why he's said no. Either that or do his other usual of bidding £3m less for him than the side that signed him 24 hours ealier so he can come out ot the fans and say "I've tried to bring players in". Moyes, good coach, terrible in the transfer market.
  14. BT has not got a brain, he's obviously been reading (or having someone read to him why he plays with his crayons) the newspapers and all this talk of him finding his "best form". He's always out on the p!ss, he was in a pub in Altrincham a few weeks back playing on a game were you take penalties and came 7th out of 10 in the pub!!!! Moyes needs to rein in some of his players as BT isn't the only one with a liking for being out all night in the run up to games.
  15. £4m for Nugent????? Am I the only one that can see this is 3x his worth? Same old Moyes, sits on his hands until the last few days of the window and then does a last minute dash for players either paying way over the odds or not getting anyone. Nugent is not worth £4m in a million years. Same as all this nonsense talk of Trundle. There's a very good reason why, at 29, Trundle is playing in the 3rd division of English football- that's his level. Look at Lee Hughes, twice the player of either of these 2, scored 30+ in the Championship, signs to a Prem team and scores 5. It's about time someone had a work in Moyes' ear and told him he's not manager of Preston anymore and started signing players of Premiership quality instead of 3rd division journeymen and players just because they're from Liverpool.
  16. We've got more chance of signing Father Christmas
