A couple of seasons ago a top psychologist was asked to study Messi as to why he's as good as he is and, in a nutshell, it was concluded that he works things out so quickly and so far in advance that if he had chosen an academic career he would be a brilliant mathematician.
In the same context, and although not a mathematician, that would mean Maradonna is Stephen Hawking.
Ian Holloway has an engineering degree, don't make him Pep Guardiola though!! Know of any other intelligent footballers?

I would say Maradona. But like you I can only pick from players I've seen in my lifetime really
Yep I would go for him too

Sad to hear Rubes, chin up and good health to you.

Modern day mark draper! Am I showing my age ?
Hell yes!!!!

No offence but I think all that highlights is your level of understanding the game. He's a water carrier - thats what they do. Maybe he will get a bit more adventurous with his play but at the moment its not his job.
Did Roy Keane create goals or offer a goal threat for United - no, he averaged 4 goals a season - he totalled 6 assists in 5 years from 2000 onwards... But maybe you seen him as a spare man?
Scored the vital one away to Juve in 1999, dragged his team to the final even knowing he was unable to play in it, massive respect for Keane after that game. If Jimmy Mac is going to be halve Keano's pedigree I will be well happy for him and we are going to have a little gem there.

He was excellent on Thursday night. Really good control, quick & powerful runs and worked really hard too.
I was also though De Guzman was very average especially in comparison to who he replaced initially. Maybe we were watching different games! lol
I was on the half way line two rows up from the front, What you don't see on tv etc....... is that Canas was bollocking him for not making runs in behind so he had to pass into the two wingers, which I agree with. Canas tired and De Guzman came on and made such a difference, Bony should have scored two, Lukaku would have had them both!! Would not have gone only my mate had a spare ticket from 5 lads I know that went.

I was listening to the folk songs at half seven Rubes, went to do something and come back at 8:05pm and the stream stopped and I could not get it back.

Something has gone wrong with the music server I can not get connected to it, but neither can the main station computer. We have struggled all day to get it sorted
It was fine until just before 8pm though?

His performances for Wales is a shambles, I would drop him, needs to move on and start afresh but not to us.

Just saying like, he's worth most of that for the money he brings into the club for just being Rooney.
Also the £120,000 tax bill nearly halfs the 300k figure.
60% of a players wages go tax free into a pension, but then taxed on the money that is made when at the stage of maturity.

Tbf he was doing well until he got sent off.
Thought Man City actually played pretty well and they had Barca in trouble on a few occasions, even with 10 men.
Christ, I thought he was the weak link! It may look good on tv pointing and shouting but for Pete's sake back it up with some decent defending!

When you were describing McCarthy then I had a picture of Claude makalele in my mind.
Claude Makalele (in his prime) started most of the attacks for Chelsea by the way, Winning the ball, taking it off the center halves, turning and passing forward, if peeps really see what he did then he was far less of a water carrier than some people make out. Best player I have ever seen at shielding the ball and pushing players out the way with his hips. Glad '' the special one'' agrees with me, as the first sentence are actually his own words................

This is a true story. One weekend, my brother went to stay with our dad, who was living on his own, in Cornwall. About to leave on the Sunday evening, my brother was handed a hand-written bill for 50p. It was the cost (back then) of turning the heating on for those two days! We thought our dad was joking, but he was perfectly serious.
A common definition of a Cornishman: short arms, deep pockets.
Lucky he didn't live in Ceredigion, would have charged you wear on the front door hinges for opening it!!! So tight they get up in the middle of the night to see if they lost any sleep.

Le Tiss in his prime was one of my favourite players ever.
Ah, mine too just wondered if he could cut it at a top club though.
-
I think he will go if offered the position at the Swans but I don't think he will be offered it.

Vorm is just out of the side because of injuries, no? Thought Mignolet is having a horrible season though.
Vorm has done some major foul ups this season Steve, shame really. Any good young prospects over in your league?
-
Id swap Lloris for Mignolet (I know, I will go wash my mouth out). De Gea is still learning but is already a very good keeper, you can see why SAF invested in him. Hes going to be a great keeper
Yep Mignolet (spit, spit) is a great goalie, like Howard mind you when he's on form, Michael Vorm had a good season last year but is having a mare this year. Begovic I really do rate though.

Oh wow, Putin playing the hard man. Gas, wheat, nitrate fertilizer all up, Norway will look to make up the shortfall in gas along with Iran, America and Canada will plant more wheat and Poland will produce more amonium nitrate fertilizer. Anyway he is only looking after Russia's interests in the region is he not?
