  1.

As far as I can tell (having just tried to "buy" tickets in a new account in my wife's name) you don't get a ticket reference number until you actually buy a ticket.

Not sure (that aside) why it's naive for any business to give their customers a customer number .

God Mike, you're such a pedant. I thought I was bad.

You only need a customer number to vote. Anybody can get one very easily if they know how.

  2.

Yes. 20 minutes is enough. If he couldn't do it, he also couldn't have done it for 20 minutes. ;)

Those are 2 seperate things. The arabian money financed the whole project, but still, what happened on the pitch was te work of the (bought) staff and squad. Bank checks didn't win the title, but Gareth Barry did and that's what I'm trying to say.

Barry was a fantastic player long before he ever went to City for £12m, so to say he had the "Man City Magic" in him makes difficult reading to most football fans. Man City have paid for everything they have, and developed little themselves. Even Micah Richards started out at Leeds then Oldham before City. City have the magic of money, and nothing else should be credited to them in terms of 'work' from any staff etc.

    07-08 £68m

    08-09 £140m

    09-10 £130m

    10-11 £160m

    11-12 £83m

    12-13 £54m

    13-14 £100m

plus the cost of facilities and purchase etc brings it to well over £1bn worth of investment to win a solitary Prem title that returns £15m in prize money for the winner.

  3.

But that's not what they're doing....they're opening it (via the internet) to season ticket holders, members and those who have a reference number at the ticket office because they've bought tickets.

Talking about people from other countries who've never breathed the Liverpool air is a red herring as they won't have a say.

This was my first comment on the subject:

I keep saying it, but strictly speaking, it's the guys who pay for tickets and sit in the rain every week that should get the vote, and not the forum spammers from armchair land

The rest was a separate conversation to appease Matt.

BTW: Anybody in the world can get a customer number without needing to buy tickets, in case you didn't know. This is how naïve our club is.

  4.

Don't need to. I watched the whole match live.

According to the stats they had five attempts on target (same as us) and another seventeen off. Nobody ever got ten goals from those numbers.

If you'd have said we could've lost 3-1 then fair enough but ten is just silly.

Well, stats don't always tell it as it is. I watched the full match too, and the highlights only minutes before posting, so if you want to 'remember' the info which forms your opinion then there's not much I can do about that. 17 attempts plus 5 attempts in my book is 22 attempts, and 22 attempts from some of the so called top strikers in the world, so I think my point was a fair one, especially as it says "IF THEY HIT THE TARGET". The main point is we were very easily undone, and must improve.

  5.

That's the Turkish beer talking....they certainly had a few more chances than us but 10-1 is mad talk.

Take a look at the 20 min highlights Mike on the Evertontv, or you can see it on my homepage if you can't be arsed logging in to the main site.

The amount of chances they had was incredible. How much money is Eto'o on again?

    Really. Take a look.

  6. We really need to settle as a team and up our game if we are to do anything with our season.

We can celebrate our victory against Chelsea, but the truth is we were absolutely battered by the Chavs, and got away with murder. Had their strikers hit the target we could have lost 10-1 such was the extent of their chances, so a huge improvement is required.

Airing on the side of caution might not be too bad an idea, as it's normally the mid table sides we struggle to break down. Hit them on the break etc, but by Christ we need to tighten our game up in the middle of the park.

  7. i understand what you're getting at, and to a large degree agree with you. I suppose it's somewhat of a moot point, as the people you describe probably won't bother to vote anyway, or won't be able to since they would have to have bought tickets at some point. I'm talking more about the people in Australia, like my cousin, who stay up til 4am to watch the game but can't go because of the distances and money involved.

Question though; in my situation am I considered an armchair fan in your opinion? Should I be entitled to a vote?

Edit: only asking, I might be getting a little defensive!

I would class myself as an armchair fan too Matt. It doesn't sit well with me to expect the same rights as a fan who travels the world following the club, and I would gladly give up my vote to such a fan.

You can't open a vote to the Internet as you can't be sure who is voting. If it were me, I'd have a ballot box at the ground, as even customer numbers mean little.

  8. I take myself as an example. Ive had season tickets before, went the match for years growing up. That was around 15 yrs of going to Goodison, and I still try and arrange any visits home to coincide with a match.

But due to moving abroad to find work, Ive not been able to go the game every week. My dad and I were actually looking into how we could organize a season ticket + flights as a birthday present, but its just not feasible; neither time wise nor fiscally (for me to get to and from Geneva airport is 50quid alone). Because of this, Im an "armchair" fan who has to search for links online to watch, but in no way is my love for the club less than those who go there each week. For Evertons foreign support, we are stuck with it.

There are some who only check the scores, who never even go out of their way to find the games in local pubs or online. If youre referring to these only, I start to agree but unless you know the reasoning behind why each person does this, you cant make a distinction.

That's not quite the same Matt as a guy who enjoys them from afar and never spent a penny towards the club other than buying a used shirt from a dodgy online dealer and getting a crested pair of socks for Christmas.

Look at it from another point of view:

You spend your cash going to every home game and every away game, home or abroad, and Everton is your whole life. You live or work in a footballing community dedicated to your club, and your rival club, and went through school to adulthood dreaming of one day playing for Everton. Your father and his father were both Blues, and ................ (I'm sure you get the gist of it by now).

Up comes the chance to design / vote for your clubs new badge, but because of the power of the Internet, you and your travelling mates on the way back from that long trip to Southampton turn the radio on, on the Hans tour coach, and hear you are outvoted by folk living in a far distant land who have never breathed the same air as another Everton fan, but stumbled upon them online, and followed them since via stream on the occasional Saturday they remember the match is on.

Is 'that' fair Matt ? :dont know:

Everybody has the right to be a fan and love the club, but fairness is leaving the politics to the guys who are still actively involved.

You can walk past a house every day and admire the garden, falling in love with the way the sun lights up the heathered archways and glistens off the heads of the daffs, but unless you actively clear the dog shit up on a daily basis I doubt the owner will consult you when he wants to dig up the roses and plant carrots.

  9. not handy, but called them up and its all sorted. Took 2 mins, was very impressed!

Been registered since 2006 at least (maybe earlier, Im sure I used it at Uni), but not used it for years because I would go through my sister or dad (so they got the loyalty points in case of a Wembley visit) so even if I had a ticket it wouldnt be my number!

couldnt remember the password Av, but like I said, all sorted now :)

apparently 20,000 people took the survey, less than the petition for those against it (last count 24,043). Seems strange!

Most of the petition voters were bandwagoned and duplicated, not to mention the amount of away supporters who voted for a laugh. I can live with the crest we have.

I keep saying it, but strictly speaking, it's the guys who pay for tickets and sit in the rain every week that should get the vote, and not the forum spammers from armchair land. We can all fantasize about the latest page 3 bird too, but only the lads that get off their arses and take her out will have the chance to get laid.

  10. I knew Barry was and is going to be a success, cause he has that special Man City magic in him. Now I know things don't always go smoothly between Everton and ManC support, but you got to give it to them, footballwise they're a special bunch. If they had the charisma to perform decently on European level, they'd have been major Barcelona competitors in their title year. Barry was a regular starting lineup player that year, you can't go around it. He was predestined to shine here.

About Fellaini: Fans have had their fair share of frustration over him, with which i only partially agree. I think he's a massive player and one of the best mids in the world. Though, he was a mismatch at EFC to my opinion. Mismatch or not, he still was a major weapon EFC had in their ranks and it payed off so often. He too will be big at Man United where he fits in a lot better.

Special Man City money magic ?

  11. Good pic that Av - I think he's going to be a beast for us. I honestly feel top 4 is a possibility - tough but potentially achievable if we keep main players fit.

Thanks mate. I've not really watched him despite his good season so it will be interesting to see what happens. If he plays every week though, we will have a few strikers worth very little by the time we have to give him back, so my own preference would be to have our own strikers scoring goals.

edit: I have no idea what my Customer Number is anymore!

Matt, log into your Everton account. If you don't have one, register https://eticketing.evertonfc.com/PagesPublic/Login/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fPagesPublic%2fLogin%2fLoggedOut.aspx%3f

I wonder how many of the badge haters online actually have a customer number.
