It's worries me that were not good enough to field one defensive midfielder. Top teams like city do it, but I don't think overall we have the quality to put less than 2 DM out there. Plus you can't drop either Gueye or Barry, they're our two best midfielders.

West ham have done better than us in recent seasons. Good result and one which is on the road to redemption for dropping too many points recently.

Barry looked more shakey than usual today, gave the ball away needlessly a couple of times as did Gana. But as always, even when they're playing bad they're playing good.

Rom, awesome today, got about and deserved a goal and assist! Barkley needs to crack on now and get some constancy, he did well today.

Funes Mori is absolutely dreadful

Starting another home game looking like the away team.

Calvert-lewin on the bench ahead of Valencia and Kone (and Niasse). Don't know if either of those are inured but it's interesting he makes the cut. Koeman must see something in him, exciting.

I can't see Barkley being that deep I wouldn't read too much into that. He will be a number 10 I think.

Joel, Oviedo and Funes Mori in our defence. Be very surprised if we keep a clean sheet here!

Interesting, I'd say it's the opposite, he reacts much better under instinct and struggles with time to think.

Rooney's name being branded around. Osman reckons he could come back one day, Koeman happy to take him. Two issues with that. He's on 300k a week, and he's lost it. Can't see him ever returning and I'd be happy if he didn't. Edit: nothing to do with January I just was too lazy to make a thread!

I suppose he has to either push forward or push backwards. He's not a number 10, for me.

What would Ross be like as a striker?

He's worked under koeman before so it'd make sense.

IMO Ross needs to either move on, or we need to bring in a number 10 which Ross can step in for if he's injured. He's not good enough and is not likely to ever be and the sooner we see that the quicker we can move on.

Deflated from our recent run of form I don't expect us to get any more than a point. We had a very easy start to the season and despite doing very well at the very beginning derailed and have had results which scream that we will struggle to push for top 7 again. I hope Steve Walsh has been scouring around for a creative player I can't believe we didn't sign one in the summer, that was the player we needed the most and should have been priority.

The Benteke goal was a great finish not poor goalkeeping.

It's not the circumstances of how or why it happened. By all means rom should have let Bolasi have it and should have moved away from the ball, I just dislike players physically taking the ball off their team mate, it doesn't promote teamwork. It went in though, it's by the by, I was just giving my opinion on why I didn't vote for Bolasi, or anyone for that matter. And he did get an assist actually (according to my dream team), I can't see why it would count though.

Skekkers conceded a goal, and the only one this season I can remember which I can directly blame on the keeper (even though events leading up to the goal were also a shambles) Howard would have a mistake like that every 2 or 3 games toward his last two seasons at Everton. He's done well and saved us more points than lost, let's not make him out to be the bad guy.

Assertive play? Mirallas refused to pass the ball whilst he was on the pitch that's assertive. Team work is key, look at the best teams in the world.
