  1. Still Martinez for me. But I see Periera is a popular choice. I'd be happy with him too.

Still dont get why some of you guys are unhappy with the linked names. Yes, some are bollocks, but theres some good names on there.

Said it before already, we aint gonna attract the 1st tier or 2nd tier type names...we aint won the league for 25odd years, no cup for almost 20years, aint in Europe and are skint, and unfortunately the only mainstream headline grabbing news the club has had the last couple of years has been based around (rightly) dusgruntled fans. Sorry, but its true.

  2. I like the one above from TheKrow without the latin around the outside.

I have looked at the new badge more times now and still like it. I like how the tower actually resembles the tower in real life.

However, i do agree that it feels a bit bland and as if something isnt quite right.

I have always liked the now old badge but can see how it is a bit to 'busy' for todays digital world.

If people feel signing a petition to get their point across is required, then fair play. But unless a huge significant number sign it, a hell of a lot more than the current 14k...thinking of our worldwide fanbase...then it wont change. I think all merchandise will already be done with the new badge on. Like it or not, this stuff will sell.

I know the latin is part of the club, but it has been missing from our badge for most of our history, as have the wreathes. I think they are important to the club, but not the do all and end all of our badge. The latin will remain at the stadium etc and will always be part of us.

  3. Less than this one. But for the influence that they seem to have over us you'd expect us to see more benefit.

Generally, do we know what kit deals are worth

    for other clubs?

I would guess that no matter what the deal value, the kit company would influence things in some way. Would be interesting to see if any other clubs who are signed to nike have also changed their badge, either now or in the past. Then that would be a gauge of the influence???

  4. I didn't say that's what you said, I said that's what it suggested. Take more notice eh? ;).

So I should not disagree or question with a poster because they may donate? Get real.

And we don't get big money from this Nike deal, unfortunately. We get £3m a year. That's it. We've gone with them more for what their name shows outsiders rather than financial gain.

Oh now c'mon...this is pathetically petty!!! Lets rise above it.

Genuine question...how much have previous kit deals been worth?

I can live with that badge. Kit looks ok. It could have been worse.

  5. Lol not up for a fight at all, Newty. Just didnt like your original post which was dismissive - saying people who have signed that petition are probably the same people who will whinge no matter who the new manager is suggests you think people are moaning for the sake of moaning and that their opinion on this is baseless.

Edit - and personally, my unhappiness about the badge is entirely to do with the badge and nothing else. Yes, I'm not a fan of the club owners but they haven't come in to my thinking on this at all. I do t even think the club is the most to blame on this, I think Nike have steamrolled the club into it tbh.

    I like the LOL!!!

I write that original post at 12.50am...after watching the Froch Kessler fight, long day...couldnt be arsed to add more depth to it. But also didnt think it would be read into so much. And actually, unlike what you quote above, i said nothing about others opinions being baseless. I have explained what was meant in my previous posts!!! Take more notice.

And.....!!! Be careful what you label people with, you've got me labeled totally wrong. As someone who will quite happily, and i have said this in the begging thread, contribute some coin to the forumon Tuesday, you as a moderator and rep of the forum might want to do your PR a bit better!!!

Im quite happy to leave it at that...

Back to the topic...The PR around the badge has been a nightmare. And if Nike are holding a strong influence, then thats a shame. At the same time, if we want the money to come in from these big firms then we have to give some leeway. I guess thats the dirty world of business.

  6. No, the point is that no one is criticising you, or anyone else, for liking it. It's you that has the problem with people not liking it! You've completely dismissed that view in a condescending manner.

Edit - let me ask you something. When you're bothered about an issue surrounding the club but another person doesn't find it a concern and simply dismisses it, will you think that's fair?

I have a problem with people liking it do i??? You've got that totally 100% bollock knacker knicker twisted wrong. Absolutely utterly wrong.

'dismissed that view in a condescending manner'...Im gonna pick my words carefully here as I have a feeling your likely to twist my words a bit...maybe your up for a fight this morning, i dont know...but if i was to condescend towards you guys I would be behaving patronizingly or agreeing to do something as a favour. I dont think I have....or have i?!!!

And your question...if I was your manager or 'superior', and you raised a concern with me, and I dismissed it out of hand, without taking any notice etc...that would be unfair. But as this is a totally different situation, and I havent dismissed anything, nor am I in a position to dismiss anything as I am just another fan on another forum, then the question doesnt seem to relevant.

My very original comment was more about the fact that there will always be people unhappy in this situation, no matter what actions the club do or dont take, and at the moment, that unhappeniness runs deeper than the badge...it is, maybe quite rightly, an unhappiness from a number of other events...if that makes sense?!

  7.

That's right, belittle fellow blues for having concerns. Well played, sir.

Erm...no!!! Belittle?!! Bit over the top. Honestly, I apologise if this has hit yours and others sensitive side. But I cant help but feel that just because I dare to like it...based purely on the image not the politics (for reference, I disagree 100% with the bullshit approach the club have taken with this...yet again giving shit loads of ammo to the haters!), I'll get that sort of response.

Whatever the design was going to be, do you really think that everyone would like it? Nah. As mentioned earlier on, whack 6 designs up and let fans choose. All 6 will get votes. Guess what? Only one will be used...so the voters of the other 5 will be unhappy etc etc.

I dont disagree with those who dislike it, I just think that whatever decision gets made by the club in any aspect of the club will get rubbished here or there. Not sure if I have worded that right or got my point across correctly. Anyway...goin in the gym now....!!!

  8.

They paid a lot of money to a company for the design. They could have sent it to a local school, and got more original artwork.

Ok. Haven't really read into how it was designed. Was just commenting in the actual final picture. When peeps dont like a design the school kid thing always comes out. I remember the same with the olympic logo. I understand where your comin from though.

  9. Dont see what all the fuss is about.

Its all part of an evolution...which we go through in every walk of life all the time.

It looks quite good. Fairly retro. Nice and simplistic.

SSN report 6000 fans have signed a petition against it and the omission of the Latin. Probs the same 6k who will whinge no matter who the new manager is.

  10. Not sure what the problem is to be honest.

If we aint got a manager in July, when all players are back, tours are beginning etc, then I will say we didnt have a plan, BK is a prick, Elstone bums BK while the tealady licks his balls

But just now, theres no need.

The season has just finished in this country, in some it still aint finished, and the players are off on international duty or holiday.

There is absolutely no reason to panic. Something will happen within the next week. And in reality, when we take our anti-BK, panic stricken heads off...thats ok, its not a problem.

We have no idea about anything...so lets just wait.

  11. Yes he did use Everton.

The same way anyone with ambition takes steps to get to the top. And like any loyal person, he was prepared to see it through until it became obvious that his ambition had grown and the club hadnt grown with it.

Use my little career as an example. I worked at a leisure resort for 9 years. I worked my way up to manage it for my final 2 years. Why did I leave? It was the same old same from the owner. Always looking to wrangle money. The more money we made, the more these strange bills appeared that had to be paid. The place was never going to change while that owner had it, he had no intention of letting it go unless he got a daft price.

So i sodded it off and joined one of the UK's, soon to be worlds, biggest retailers.

    Sounds kinda familiar I think!

  12. Blimey...take a step back...and breath!!!

This is a good topic, lets not let it turn into a bitch session.

John...you have very valid points. Again, and ots not the first time I have typed this...and others have too, we agree new stadia is needed to boost income and stay competitive at the top.

However, the point many are trying, but failing, to make to you is a) Where will the money come from when we have none to very little to start with, plus hardly any assets because they have already been sold to keep the club going? Your answer to this is a loan. Unfortunately...we already have a number of loans secured against future income. We also already owe the bank £45-50million. I get that you believe we run at a profit...unfortunately thats not true. We run at a loss, the annual club accounts tell us that. Only sales of assets and/or players make it look less gloomy.

If we try to secure finance with a bank or 3rd party, they are gonna want some strong arrangements, so it will be either a high interest rate (can we afford it?), an asset as security (we dont have any!), or a guarantor...who would that be? It goes a lot deeper than this...but as I am typing this while taking a dump, im finding it hard to concentrate.

This is just my view. The new stadia would be awesome, as would the rail links.

No one is against what you are saying John, please just relax a little and take on board the real factual concerns.

  13. John...again, great posts. However, yet again I am reading your passionate replies, telling us we need new stadia for more income, to challenge etc etc, all correct by the way...but we, the fans, know that. We know it.

When I say the so called negative views arent so much negative but experience, I know we havent experienced new stadia but we have experienced two complete failures in the past 10 or so years...two plans which where boasted about left right and centre which came to nothing. Even a project to boost out corperate facilities a couple of years ago fell flat on its face. Thats the experience.

So, while I dont think that not having a new stadium will result in instant relegation...I do kinda agree that not having something done will make it a hell of a lot more difficult to challenge due to finances.

Im not sure of your motive for the whole thread, if we all just said 'yes, I agree'...then what?

  14. John...brilliant posts. Top notch detail. But I cant help feel that you are trying to sell an idea, which is right in every way, but we aint the right people to sell it too!!!

Most fans would enjoy a new stadia to increase our revenues and competiveness, so long as it wasnt too co orperate and lost the soul of the club, which sadly many new stadia are/do.

However, we have seen a few let downs with these things in recent years. So the sceptism isnt negativity, its expereience.

  15. Avin...Without turning this into a Kenwright topic, and again I have no real issue with BK...just couple of things...he doesnt own the club, isnt it just 25% of shares he has? That leaves a vast majority elsewhere (Is it 51%you need before being classed as 'owner'? Not sure).

I dont think anyone can be too against BK's passion, but there is a point where it gets too theatrical and a bit cringey...like when you see a shit act on X-Factor...you get that same feeling. But, I guess thats his character...I suppose a lifetime in theatre can do that to you!!!

Anyway, last game today, wont be long until we find out who the new man is.

  16. Duncan Ferguson, David Weir, Alan Stubbs and Phil Neville have all reportedly been interviewed.

    http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/four-ex-blues-interviewed-replace-david-3869002

It's just as well that our expectations are not being built up.

If you read the article, it says they have been 'interviewed about how they see their role in the iminant shake up'...not so much the actual managers job. The headline does its job I think...gets your immediate attention to read on!!!

I do see having these guys at the club as important...hopefully they and the new manager can continue working together.
