....11 men involved on the day and you'd think the only people who made an impression or got the 'victory' were Peters and Hurst. What about everyone else involved who played their part, including our own Ray Wilson ?

They haven't won much, so have to claim for something..

 

I never did like that asinine statement. 11 men involved on the day and you'd think the only people who made an impression or got the 'victory' were Peters and Hurst. What about everyone else involved who played their part, including our own Ray Wilson ?

 

It's not all that well documented, but West Ham were not only responsible for England winning World Cup Gold in '66, but were also involved in quite a few other feats and achievements. Let's see.

 

Mexico 1970 - Brazil were in fact threatened by the Krays before the final event and told they had a big bet on and if they didn't put on a performance then Pele would be kidnapped and held hostage and dipped in a vat of jellied-eels in a secret location near Bethnel Green

 

Spain 1982 - Paolo Rossi was snatched before the final and threatened with being strapped to a chair and forced to watch every episode of Eastenders that had ever been recorded

 

Mexico 1986 - Maradona was in fact a big fan and could often be seen down the Mile End road singing 'knees up mother brown' with other celebrated east end figures such as 'Mad Frankie Fraser' and Nick Berry. He did it for them

 

Italy 1990 - The winning German side were in fact abducted before the game and threatened with a big fuck-off multi-colored feather duster in a secret address somewhere near Plaistow by Alf Garnett and some other undisclosed names, although 'Chas and Dave' may, or may not, have been involved

 

USA 94 - Robert Baggio was told before the game to miss the final kick or risk a beating by Ray Winstone. (Barbara Windsor wasn't available)

 

France 1998 - Zinedine Zidane was promised a lifetimes supply of jellied-eels and pie and mash, and a signed autograph from 'Dirty Den' if he put on a performance.

 

Japan and Korea 2002 - Brazil were in fact great fans of everything East London, from The Krays, to Walthamstow Greyhound stadium, and they put on a special display

 

Germany 2006 - France were threatened before the final by Eric Bristow and told to lose, or face being in attendance at every Darts tournament from now until the end of mankind, and a years supply of 'East 17' records, for good measure

 

South Africa 2010 - West Ham were appalled to find not one of the Spanish side that year were true cockneys or born within the sounds of Bow Bells, and so were threatened with being held captive at a secret location near Shoreditch and forced to listen to Spandau Ballet records (they were so much like The Krays), and watch Green Street and sample out of date jellied-eels

 

Brazil 2014 - we don't know who the winners will be, or do we, in that information has been leaked, that an undisclosed world side has been threatened by some shadowy snide characters, and told to win, or be found hanging upside down ( a la The Long Good Friday) in a pie and mash factory near Plaistow and pelted with fruit by the entire cast of Eastenders, or as a more benevolent gesture, told to win, and do it for the good of the club, and find some snide bank-notes in a dumpster just off Barking Road.
