Matt
He's got the job, Roy Keane to be his assistant. hopefully gets him off the TV!
Bailey
Wow... Now that is hilarious. They will either be brilliant or barely last 5 games!
Dalziel Kane
That was the right appointment. Good to see that commonsense prevailed. Having Keane as his right hand man seems adequate, and he has lots of experience, but we'll see how it goes. O Neill could well be the best manager they had since Charlton and I wish him every success.
Hafnia
Two sacked Sunderland managers combine eh. I'd sooner see Keane manage the Irish. Matt
Louis
It'll be interesting to see whether they ever choose anyone from England based on bloodlines. I remember Roy Keane wasn't too impressed with that last time around.
Dalziel Kane
Two sacked Sunderland managers combine eh. I'd sooner see Keane manage the Irish. Did you happen to see his (brief) tenure at Ipswich Town, the man was a disaster. Let's remember he was also at Sunderland for a short time, but even then, it was a poor time of things if memory serves, and things never took off. Keane is like so many other names, that were fine players for their respective clubs, but once they take the step up into soccer management, they resemble a fish out of water. From an Irish perspective, I'd be in two minds about having Keane as team manager. Yes he's a driven man, has that ruthless agression so necessary to succeed , but didn't he walk away from the national set up in 2002 after an issue with then manager McCarthy. Missed the World Cup that year, and the Irish were poorer with his omission. Add to that, Keane has had his moments and has proved to be a bit of a loose cannon with the propensity to take issue with everything - and nothing - and doesn't have the best of tempers (not too disimilar from this name it has to be said) and there's always this red mist that is just below the surface, although it's more benign now since his playing retirement. O Neill is a proven manager, Keane is not, you do the math. If O Neill can do for the Irish with what he did for Leicester City, as one example, they got themselves a chance to really produce something in the future. Once again, wish him every success.
