Howardshands Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 So there's a good chance my wife and I will be going to the home game against Southampton in April but I've never been to a game before. I was wondering what the dos and don'ts are with going to the game. Wearing the jersey of a wrong year, saying the wrong thing, ordering the wrong beer, etc. I also prefer to get started with the pre-gaming well in advance, so what are the good places to grab some beers before the game without making myself stand out too much? I remember seeing a thread on this forum about needing to order beers in larger amounts to not annoy people, are there any things like that I should know about bars/restaurants before the game? Also related to this but very, very important: Do they sell beer during the game in the stadium? There's also a chance we'll be going to the away game at Swansea the following weekend. Any additional tips for etiquette traveling to away matches? Thanks in advance for the tips, anything is appreciated. Quote
c1982 Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 You're an Evertonian mate, wear whatever shirt you want and stay true to what you believe. Be yourself, we're a very welcoming group. If you are planning on starting on the beers early, maybe drink around the lime street station area then it'll be easy to get a taxi to Goodison or even hop on the special match day bus. If you want to get served quickly for a few beers then I recommend the taxi club but you'll get a better atmosphere at the brick and 'the people's pub' (Wimslow Hotel). Decent food at the hot wok - often go for a prematch meal there, decent to eat in with a few beers too. FairWooney 1 Quote

Howardshands Posted August 4, 2014 Author Report Posted August 4, 2014 Good luck with the away tickets for the Swansea game away tickets are very hard to get hold of. Didn't realize that, I won't get my hopes up then. You're an Evertonian mate, wear whatever shirt you want and stay true to what you believe. Be yourself, we're a very welcoming group. Is there a certain time during the game where they stop selling beer? During hockey games here in the U.S., they'll stop serving beer after the 2nd intermission so that people start to sober up when they need to get the heck out. I think it's a pretty good policy but, yeah, beer. <3 Might find some help here: http://www.toffeetalk.com/index.php?/topic/24881-ticket-and-transport-questions/ Good stuff Matt, thanks. Quote
MikeO Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 I've never tried to buy a beer after half time but I'd be pretty surprised if they were still open in the second half. If you want one at half time it's best to nip out a couple of minutes early or the queues can be pretty savage. Quote
