Not sure if there is a topic on the but just watching Germany v Australia and were ( Aus ) giving them a good run, infact 2-1 up. Just interested to get opinions from some of you on Australian football both domestic and international.

Cheers

Know nothing about the domestic league but Oz have done brilliantly internationally for many years now, overachieving massively for a minority sport.

Will always have a soft spot because of the TC connection and the fact that I love an underdog; plus my wife has family there :).

Its grown quite a lot back home. But that 2006 world cup run did wonders for the sport! In all honestly, TC is what brought me to Everton (like 99.9% of Aussies) the man i a legend back in Aus, cant do no wrong!

You are in the Asian WC qualifying correct? Seems you're always tops or near to it there, well done and hope you guys have another good cycle. Mile Jedinak is a beast, real player there.

Indeed correct, infact we just won the Asia cup a few months ago. We have a few pacey young wingers coming through but the obvious problem will be replacing Timmy! Mile is solid, scored another decent free kick against Germany which really isnt something you expect him to have in his game when watching him play!

Just glad people dont see us as a bunch of hacks as our Coach Ange Postecoglou (Managed Brisbane then Melbourne in the domestic league) has done a cracking job getting the team to play fast possession based football.

I view Australia the same as I view the USA: The strongest nation in a somewhat weak region. Neither will be a football super-power until a significant majority of the country buys into the game to the point where it's part of the culture.

I actually have a soft spot for Australia and it's players. I always find myself rooting for them.
