Louis
AJ has broken his ankle.. unlikely he'll be available for selection for a good while now. Over to Beattie, Anichebe and Vaughan now.
Romey 1878
It hasnt been confirmed yet because he hasnt even had the x-ray yet, but that is more than likely what has happened. Lets hope the other lads are up to shouldering the burden.
Andy
as ive said in the match thread, its a small comfort to know we scored them both while he was off the pitch, but get well soon AJ
xsaint
Seems he was hell lots of pain...wish he gets well soon...and hopefully not out for too long!
L_Blue
From the Official Site: Everton top scorer Andy Johnson was stretchered off midway through the second half of today's game against Wigan. The striker was taken to Wigan Infirmary after being withdrawn from the action as a precaution. He is believed to have sustained an ankle injury. The full extent of the problem will be known on Monday, although the striker must now be considered a major doubt for the Merseyside derby in a fortnight. evertonfc.com will bring you the latest news as soon as it is available. How long does it take to perform an X-Ray surely one will be done today and then a doctor would clearly be able to see a break or a fracture. It always puzzles me how at this club the results are never known till tomorrow, surely they have an idea rather than suggesting it's simply an ankle injury heck Sky and BBC have both stated he has a suspected broken angle not that you would know if you check the official site. fcssl
Was at the game at the JJB today. AJ went down just in front of us and it did not look good at all...he was in a tremendous amount of pain. Hopefully it was nothing too serious, but it looked it. Incidentally, it looked like Kirkland gave him a push in the back causing him to fall, but I have not seen a replay, was this the case in which we should have been awarded a penalty? Andy
kirklands a dirty get, and he looks like a cross between kuyt and peter ramage shit id forgot completely about the derby, just proves that we'll have to pull our fingers out on the 3rd
Bill
""Sky and BBC have both stated he has a suspected broken ankle"" ... The operative word being..................Suspected. Nobodys said he has, and nobody has said he has'nt, Good news if you ask me so lets wait for the official medical report.
fcssl
Yea, lets see what the facts are, and go from there. I seem to remember everybody was fearing the worst with Cahill, saying he was going to be out for the rest of the season and he made a speedy recovery. Fingers crossed, again! Dunny the Blue
Absolutly devostated!! dont ask me why but ive just got a feelin that Anechebe and Beatts can form abit of a partnership. All the best AJ, take your time and come back even better!!
fcssl
hopefully we will know something in a couple of minutes time. Sky Sports will probably mention something about our game during half time of Arsenal and Manure.
Bill
""dont ask me why but ive just got a feelin that Anechebe and Beatts can form abit of a partnership."" ........ Dont think he'll do it, with all our midfielders back to fitness he'll revert to 4-5-1. Some tough games coming up. Zed
I think we'll see more of Vaughan, whose a better prospect than Victor anyway, although a different type of player, more like Johnson
SimonButtle
I feel sick for AJ but i think it may force moyes into some much needed changes, i don't think we play to his strengths alot of the time anyway, he is not a lone striker like he was being played today.Victor and Vaughan should be given a chance. fcssl
Surely, the powers that be at Everton must know what the damage is, if not the extent. It only takes a couple of xrays to discover whether something is broken or not, therefore, it may well be that it is not broken, and that the medical team is waiting for swelling/bruising to subside so they can get a more accurate idea of what the damage really is. I may be hoping beyond all hope here...but it is not an unreasonable thought I dont think!

fcssl
incidentally, its interesting that Everton have made comments about the condition of the pitch at the JJB today. It did look a bit cut up and a bit boggy and marsh like - which, although they were not alleging at this point, may be a reason for AJ's injury. More likely Kirkland pushing him in the back though in my opinion...but I will see on MOTD a little later on!

fcssl
possibility of a compensation claim then? if we could argue that the pitch was not fit to be played on? only floating the idea?
Romey 1878
AJ has no obvious fracture according to the official site. fcssl
thankfully! lets just hope that the injury is not serious - and that he will be part of the future games sooner rather than later.
Mac
Let's look for the silver lining to this cloud, maybe this injury will force the boards hand and prompt the purchase of a tried and tested striker?. ATB Mac
