If you could put together a fantasy band who would be in it, alive or dead.

mine would be:

James Brown - vocals

The Supremes - backing vocals

Steve Howe - rythm guitar

Jimi Hendrix - lead guitar

Bootsy Collins - bass

Rick Wakeman - keyboards

John Hiseman - drums

Roland Kirk - brass

Hmmm...firstly I have to concur with the Prisoner on Hiseman/drums. Anyone who disagrees has never heard him play, no question.

Then...

Lead guitar-Carlos Santana

2nd guitar-Muddy Waters

Bass-Andy Fraser

Sax-John Coltrane

Keyboards-Steve Winwood

Violin-Eddie Jobson

Guitarists on the subs bench...

Richard Thompson

Nils Lofgren

Eric Clapton

...still wondering about vocals..maybe Jon Anderson but I'm not totally convinced.

thats an interesting lineup. but its a bit conflicting i reckon.

i mean phil collins and clapton go together well. but i dont think hendrix will fit in with louis armstrong or clapton.

im of the opinion that hendrix could play with any band, proabably be able to play with Bach if it was possible!

armstrong has the most unique voice ive ever heard, i think a bit of rock with his voice would be cool

wouldnt bother with a bass, but on reflection id have setvie wonder on piano and backing vocals, and Michael Jackson being a Bez like dancer

Would pay serious money to see that band Jamie. Neil Young is a great guitar player, an often overlooked fact. John Martyn has a unique and brilliant voice....seen him many, many times stretching back thirty or more years (can't understand how he's still alive though to be honest...last I saw some years ago he was about to have a leg amputated and was bloated to fuck). Have a photo a mate of mine took in about '79...good memories.

or chilled out (with a three way voal thing going on)

Common misconception that...the lead singer and flautist in Jethro Tull is in fact Ian Anderson. Jethro Tull (after who they named themselves) was an agriculturalist born in 1674 who was most famous for inventing the Seed Drill.

afraid im gonna disagree with you there. i cant see how getting drugged up to the eyeballs to the point where you cant even produce the basic notes let alone a solo which is what hendrix did. how can he play in his own band let alone any other.

yes he may have got to that state towards the end of his life, but as a guitarist yourself surely you must realise what a fantastic player Hendrix was.

and if you gunna call on musicians who got fucked up with drugs then you'd be talking about most of the industry

have to agree with you, hendrix was a ledgend, and to say that he wouldn;t work with clapton well is wrong.... hendrix was actually a huge influence on clapton, clapton was incredibly jealous of hendrix when he first turned up in london to play and said that he wanted to emulate his style of play.... so i think they would work well together

oh and with the jethro tull thing.... oops...my bad
