Ard1 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Alright guys, I am a Palace fan and have a quick question regarding your Penalty taker fo next season (its for my fantasy football team) will it Still be Arteta taking them - or do you guys expect it to be someone else? Without brown nosing too much, wish you lot all the best in the new season, not just because you have AJ, but for the fact that you buy the best Championship players on offer and turn them into Premiership stars like Lescott, Cahill, and Johnson - something that I admire rather than just going for the cheap foreign imports all the time. thanks again Quote
KillaGTiR Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 yeah Arteta takes them but if jb is fit and playing he would take them Quote
CraccerC Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 ^ god knows why yeh it changes now n then...but arteta takes most Quote
Bill Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Last seasons penalties .... Mikel Arteta 4. James Beattie 2. Andrew Johnson 2. So its anybodys Guess. If he escapes injury Johnson will score 20 without penalties, now that all the bad publicity about him diving has died down, he was upset by that last season and played a bit subdued, plus he missed a few games because of injuries. MikeO Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 (edited) Arteta is worth a place in a fantasy team without the pens imo, particularly at a reaonable price. My midfield in the Telegraph league is.. Ronaldo 6.0m Lampard 5.5m Gerrard 5.0m Arteta 4.1m Top value . Thanks for the outside perspective on our transfer policy....some of us get a bit blinded by others showering vast wads of cash about for mediocre imports  :helmet: . Good luck yourselves. MikeO Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 haha, ur defense can't be to valuable with that midfield mate. Cech, Terry, Riise, Gallas, Bale. Not too shabby? Quote
scouse Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 and strikers? arteta is good value as he takes free kicks and corners (assists) Quote
MikeO Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 and strikers? arteta is good value as he takes free kicks and corners (assists) That's where it starts to get tricky . I'm working on the basis of solid defence and the fact that a good mid can get as many points as a good striker but for less money, so trying to rotate cheapish strikers according to who's in form....you always get at least one cheap striker getting a lot of points. I had Aliadiere and James Vaughan down to start....not decided who to replace JV with yet. Vic is too expensive sadly (4.8 against 4.4 for JV). Anyway we'll have a party and discuss it in more depth when I pick up the £50,000 top prize next May . Quote
Pat Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Not related but ----Anyone think we will start to be awarded Pen's this term. Or will Steve Bruce or some other 2nd rate manager start fuelling the Media driven Diver claims again. Be interesting to see what emerges. Quote
Blue4Ever Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Cech, Terry, Riise, Gallas, Bale. Not too shabby? Good idea about the cheap strikers and goal scoring defenders,I always have 1 striker you no will get 15 goals but Vaughan would have been a good un. Quote
StevO Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 i went for players with max points, rooney, ronaldo, gerrard, drogba. then fill with players who wont play many games so i dont get penalised for bad defenders or keepers. from what i remember last season beattie was on pens, with arteta seconds and aj third Quote
adamcoffey Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 ^ god knows why because he doesnt miss them Quote
CraccerC Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 he isn't a good pen taker.... and charlton Quote
J*A*C*K*E*L*Z Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 I would recomend lesscot to anyone doing a fantasy football team he is going to do big things this season. I expect him to end up playing central this year also with baines on the left hopefully or if not someone else Quote
Ard1 Posted August 24, 2007 Author Report Posted August 24, 2007 Alright fellas, thought I would ask the experts - who would you expect to be taking ver the penalty duties now the Yak has joined? I know he took them for Boro, but surely Arteta wouldnt want to lose his goal bonus!? Quote
GoldfishMemory Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Not gona take them of Micky unless he misses IMO Quote
