Analysis of Yerry Mina for fantasy football, looks at some stats for Everton’s entire defence and provides opinions.
Interesting read.

No idea what this lineup will look like now, lots of new faces, not much time with the new manager and there teammates though.

Great transfer window Marcel.

A lot more goals from set plays this year if we sign Mina.

Echo confirmed that Holgate is suffereing from achillies tendonitis which has hampered most of his preseason and is likely to continue into the start of the season.
If true, can take 6-12 months to get full recovery from that type of injury.
Hope he's back sooner than later

Trent Sainsbury available as a free agent as CB coverage. 26 years old.
Did well at the World Cup, solid against France. Can play in a back 3
... Turns quicker than the truck
“ Australia's man of the match. His positional sense, distribution and general leadership at the back against some of the most expensive players on the planet was heroic at times, and set the tempo throughout for a fully functioning back line.
Always in the right place at the right time in first half when France tried to thread balls in to the box, including a fantastic last man intervention on Griezmann as France briefly threatened to overwhelm the Socceroos.
One tackle on Ousmane Dembelle on the half hour was so hard it burst the ball. “

He won't do that. Not everyone is driven by making the most money possible. He's earned enough to live comfortably and to enjoy his music and other hobbies. He's earned a great reputation here, and I'm sure he'll want to remain a Blue to the end of his career. Good luck to the man, whatever he chooses, because he's earned our respect.
Baines won’t go this season.
Silva has stated the need for competion for places, LB is finally a position of real strength in depth for our club again this season.

For me too, maybe alongside Gana who would be told to just sit back. Ramsey could play box to box, further up or deep lying playmaker in my opinion, and he’s better at those than anyone else we have.
He’d sit in the physio room taking up a table. Great player, but can’t stay fit.
No thanks

Have watched a couple of different 15minute highlights now of the game.
Granted it’s only highlights, but this pre-season has confirmed one thing for me.
Schneiderlin has to be sold.

With Barca signing Malcom, I presume the pressure is back on the non-EU players requirements for them.

If he is that adamant in going then sell him with an option to buy back at the same price
If forced to sell, great option.
Like a Barcalona clause Everton have been subject to, option to buy back in 2-3 years.

Big week coming up. 2 first team signings. (no LB).

Had some alarms raised reading an article on Dowell.
Maybe the reason our youth players are not making the step up is the coaching there receiving on lack thereof on the tactical side of the game.
We did see Unsworth get found out tactically when stepping up to the PL. Perhaps his lack of knowledge is showing in what’s is been imparted on the young players as well?
Speaking to Everton TV Dowell said
“That was the plan when I went out on loan – to get that experience under my belt and bring that back to Everton and use it to push into the first team.
“It was my first experience of proper football. I played 40-odd games last season and off the pitch I grew up a lot living on my own. Every week, I had that need to win.
“I learned about changing the way you play depending on how the game is going. If you are winning 1-0, you are less likely to try stuff – you try to keep hold of the ball instead.”

Is he an upgrade on Keane or Holgate, because I can’t see him displacing our first choice CB Con Ouzounidis

Everton senior squad sorted at CB for the upcoming season now, happy days.
Move on to focussing on cover for Baines.

Question to ask is. At the rate Everton’s transfer business is going in the current era. If we continue to sign 25m highly rated players, how many can we afford to fail v work out.
At a younger age profile, the risk is minimised due to sell on value. If he works out, the fee is negligible, but not ideal.
If he doesn’t, it slows down the progress of developing the squad.
The value can only be compared to the alternatives, because the LB position is a must this window.

Anyway moving on, Daniel Arzani is the only Aussie I hope Everton go for. Very close with Cahill so there is a vague link there , and has stated he’s looking for a move to Europe.
Would need to play U21 for a season (not farmed out) to keep him tutored under Silva, but he has potential.
Will be far cheaper than the young English talent Everton has been spending big on the past seasons.
