Firstly no one said otherwise....until now is he fuck 😂 Sig Morgan and a fit McCarthy would all be Infront of this lad

He's not a bad player but he's no more than average at this level and as said "aiming for better"

Not that it matters as we won’t be signing him.  But completely disagree with this, he would be an upgrade on any of our midfielders except for Siggy.

The stats say the same in most categories, and he can play DM, CM, AM. He is an above average prem player, and dominated the Championship getting in team of the season.

this World Cup has got me worked up!

Don't know what all the fuss is about. This is a smart move for Lookman, it's clear he isn'ttt going to get regular game time and he could do with the experience.

Leipzig are a good side, they play good football and living in Germany will mature him much faster. I'd like to see more of our young players make these kind of loan moves.

If Everton are going to get the best out of Lookman then he needs to kick on. It does young players no good being in a struggling side that is short of confidence.

Couldn’t agree more. Hoping he gets a decent run of games. More so, getting thrown in the deep end in another culture, witnout your ‘mates’ around you, is the best thing a young person can do to learn about themselves and to mature quickly.

    Well done Lookman.

No doubt he will learn more about playing football than under Allardyce .

Just hoping he is keen to run out for Everton next season.

  3. To me it speaks volumes that Niasse has climbed above him in the pecking order despite his know limitations.

His loosing of footing and loose touches were more prominant and frequent than any moments of quality or inspiration this season.

Can’t see anyone purchasing him on his current wages. A loan to keep him developing would be ideal.

No chance of Sessegnon, spurs want him. ......  Gibson the same as Keane, looked good last season but nothing special. Dont want any more Mancs unless its Rashford.

No idea who Uth is so i cant pass comment.  not sure about Dembele. and if we had the right players in the right positions around  Sigurdsson Barkley wouldnt get in the team.

All in all i'm not impressed with your selections Paul but everybodys choices would be different.

Everton pay more than Spurs and there is a 1st team place at Everton for the taking, Dany Rose to displace there.

Potentially exciting partnership with Onyekuru whoever the post Baines era LB is.

  5. Hopping to see a 4-2-3-1 with the right balance.

We need a winger, an actually real winger that runs at defences and tries to get in behind the Defense and keeps there width, to play at left mid/wing. (Bolasie would be ideal). I really don’t know who in the squad is capable of this role, Mirallas isn’t the answer, maybe Sandro or Lookman?

This means Baines doesn’t need to make overlapping runs all the time, but is there as an option behind the winger.

At right Mid we can play any of Davies/Siggy/Rooney/Vlasic/Lookman with the option for the player to drift in a little more but the RB must make aggressive overlapping runs to push there Defense back and link up with the RM. Make there Defense work and create space for our plethora of midfielders to work the ball up the pitch.

  6. Have a read through of Johan Cruff's first couple of seasons at Barcelona, he brought in Koeman and some big signings in his first season as well as youth players that wouldn't previously be given an opportunity due to there short height.

He adopted his new style of total football, it didn't produce silverware in the first season, but then they dominated.

I see Koemans players his bringing in an adaption of this, Rooney, Gylfi, Klaasen, Gueye, Davies, DCL and hopefully Ramirez. They can all defend deep, exchange positions and move forward into the box and provide a goal threat.

It will take time, I hope he can make it work because his recruiting seems to be to make his variation of total football.

  7. Best display of target man/pressing/selflessness/work rate/engaging the centre halves I have seen in a long long time.

Will be a complete forward in my opinion.

I'm hoping so as well, thinking the biggest area of his game that needs work is his finishing right now. Very promising player.

  8. Took the game to them? We only had three shots on target and they only had 10 men for second half.

Yes that's the statistics, I'm commenting on the tactical flow of how the game played out by watching the game. Not summarising it into a shots on target statistic.

On that stat, I thought a lot of City's shots on and off target had 1-2 defenders passing on the attacker to reduce the shooting angle, and and Pickford in excellent position to stop the shot. Our defence was very well organised, I was impressed.

    ***Edit***

To expand on that, I think this is where Koeman has drilled a lot of work into how Everton defend as a unit, You can't always stop a player, but you can move them to reduce the opportunity to score, I.e Chanel them to the corner rather than opening up the centre of the pitch, to limit the shooting angle with where your body is positioned between the ball and goal.

There looks to be good situational practice as well, when Pickford rushed out shut down a player on a tight angle, the shot was chipped, Everton had 2 defenders on the goal line who reacted to get to that position as soon as Pickford rushed out. This hasn't happen d by chance, it's been taught and practiced.

    Great defending as a unit.
