i thought pienaar and baines did great together down the left flank again. i gave it to baines though, thought he contributed more all round.

baines has said he wants to take over set pieces, so im sure he'd put himself up for this. his long range set pieces have been a bit poor though.

hes already had his wedge from the club so far. in the pre contract agreement they had a clause stipulating if he played six games for everton his wage would be higher than agreed in the first place. they didnt say it had to be first team, and gazumped the club when he'd played for the reserves and youth team a while back. but hes signed on anyway, just hope he develops well.

like with rodwell, i dont think he'll be a midfielder. the only down side, hes supposedly signed with stretford.

take him as a squad player for free, no other way.

i can see us losing a player or two, but i dont think stevie will be one of them. vdm, jacobsen, castillo, victor maybe, probably kissock, but i dont think we expected rodwell and gosling to step up this year, i expect baxter to do the same next year.

i think yobo is a very very good centre half. i dont worry about him really, he will never get done for pace, hes solid in the air and his timing is pretty spot on. hes unlucky to be out of the team, but competition is good for the team. we have three very good centre halfs, im happy to see any two play.

to be honest if we lost the ten point gap we have now, then i'd be very suprised. but ive really missed europe.

selling a player for a profit should not be on our agenda anymore, i thought as a club we were past them days now. stabilised is what the club call us now. if a player is in our starting 11 week in week out we should not be considering selling them, unless there was an obviously ridiculous offer on the table. im not talking about £15m for lescott, im talking like £50m for one of our top players. we need players on the pitch, not just money in the bank. i dont see how he could be a replacement, he normally plays on the left (and looks quite natural there to me, considering hes right footed) id have him here in an instant, and 5m would be a bargain. very very good footballer imo and would be a good addition.

the biggest problem with a big squad is we have to pay them all. we cant afford to have 30k a week players on the bench. our income is too low, our costs are too high. long term problem, from long term mismanagement.
