  1. Yep - they cost too much hard cash and the results a club gets from them is usually shit... Only really United and the RS that have produced anything decent over the last decade. Okay we have had rooney and we got £20m for him - but we also invested in all his youth team mates (who are now emptying bins) and the likes of Daniel Fox, Tony Gerrard, Gavin McCann, John Connors, Peter Hill, Guillaime Plessis - all made headlines, but never featured. RS have had Fowler, Mcmanamanananaman, Owen, Gerrard... Man UTd - butt, scholes, beckham, giggs, fletcher, O'shea, etc.etc. When you produce this many 'first teamers' you can only profit. But one decent player every other year is not good enough to justify the cost of an academy - especially if your not a prem club or do not have the same cash as the english game (i.e. Scotland).
  2. although somewhat biased towards BT, its rather true... Crouch is a misfit (no pun intended) and he aint gonna survive at world cup level. Internationals is one thing (and he was shit) but the worlds top tournament - giev me a break (Around knee height). Owen - although once a RS player, cant take away his ability, although another injury, this time a break, could hamper him and Sven may not play him (although he will be there!) Rooney - obvious choice...unfortunately Defoe - something about him that I do not like at all. Arrogance. Bent (as in the good one, daz to his mates!) - I wouldn't mind seeing him there at the expense of our Beats...fair do's to the lad, he's stepped up to the big stage and not showed signs of any nerves...fast little fucker too! That leaves our Beats...and I didn't realise that he was soooo close to a possible call up. You never know...you never know. I would love to see him at the world cup - although he would probably score 10, win the goalden boot and we'd secretly sell him to Man Utd for a buy now, pay ya when we feel like it deal. Phil Neville should also go - especially now that Alan 'the twat' Smith is tied up - literally.
  3. Poom obviously realised that we have a shit boardroom and decided that he was content at missing out on a possible premiership return to sit on the subs bench for Arsenals reserves...i mean, who would turn down the arsenal reserve bench for Everton?!?! Sander ... please, please change your mind too
  4. Think logically - home grown talent costs a lot of money... you have to nurture them train them teach them show them pay for them! plus home grown talent always ask for more wages. Foreign players cost of nurturing them, training them, teaching them, teaching them how to deal with the media etc.etc. is already paid... no investment but you get the player - thats worth a lot more than the transfer fee that you will pay for a player. So lower clubs and skint clubs benefit more by buying players abroad than developing their own (especially if they turn out shite!)
  5. How can anyone even suggest at dropping hibbo at the moment - he is playing the best football this season - its like watching him last year. Quality tackles - and I doubt that joey;s distribution will be any better. For me the defence has to stay put and Joey and Ferrari have to work harder to get into it.... Valente (apart from the Chelsea game) has been excellent over the last 10 games. Hibbo - superb lately Weir - with Stubbs, excellent stubbs - solid as a rock (apart from getting Turner sent off!!!!! ) Ferrari was fantastic against arsenal until he picked up his injury. Joey has been superb until he was sent to the mickeymouse international third world cup. WE will have to wait and see...but dont change a winning side. not yet anyway!
  6. Ferrari deal.... please dave, please Bk....dont dither on this one like you did with Arteta - because Ferrari wont be as kind to hang on... Sign him up - he is a good player, young player and has the chance to shine for his country also....sign him!
  7. Fuck him. I hate him. He is, alongside Savage, the worst and dirtiest player in the prem... How many other players do you see put two footed tackles in every game, get booked for it and then stand either over the injured player or face to face with the lucky bastard who escaped the tow footed lunge and scream at them.... the guy is a twat - pure and simple. I wouldn't wish a career threatening injury upon anybody - but I can smile at the pain!!!
  8. DURRRR Moyes, your only a month too late.... January transfer window means just that....JANUARY!
  9. Scotland has called Naysmith to international duty because he is fit... the guy has played 5mins of football since his horrific injury - - and he gets a call up. Scotland must be soooooo desparate!! Madness surely?
  10. Before you lot reply - it cant take player trading into account due to the terms and conditions that are imposed i.e. buy now pay later. Our revenue was calculated (if you remember back to the AGM in October) without player trading. Therefore the Rooney money has had little, if any bearing on the revenue taken by the club. We had £12 from TV rights this year another £12 from finishing 4th plues extra sponsorship (£2m a year from Chang etc.) Plus merchandise and ticket sales and increased season ticket sales. - Normally - without the TV money and finishing 4th we manage to generate a revenue of around £40m (£44m 2003/2004) so with our prise money and tv we have increased our worth and entered the deloitte. there is no way that the rooney money (or any other transfer money) can be included in our £60m revenue figure.
  11. JUST FOR INFO.. the Deloitte rankings does not take into account revenue from player purchases
  12. Sit in the park end or Gwladys street for a memorable atmosphere. (Try and sit further back than ROW M - everything else is too low down, in the Park end that is!) Match day - make your own fun on match day - stay near to Goodison to get the views of fellow, loud talking evertonians and laugh at some of their bizarre suggestions and chants. Wilmslow is always a good place to go - pay the guy on the door (£1) and he will let you go upstairs (if you smile and ask nicely). Plenty of Beer - plenty of grub...hopefully a win for the blues (but be aware, Fulham are our bogey team!!!) and a fooking good day! Pop into town and get wasted!
  13. I think that we should forget it - its only a pressure move from the board room. 2006 summer - isn't that when the world cup is being played!!! So any players that make the world cup squads (where a midfield finalist is said to run a distance of 58 miles! over the course of the competition!) will be knackered and in dire need of a break - Especially Cahill. It means an extra couple of games in closed season - when we should be training to get ready for the prem. Look at Newcastle this season - they entered it and the players have never been fit this season. Its too much for a nothing competition that puts you in the VERY early stages of the UEFA cup. Too many games in my opinion - we should forget that idea.
  14. In this article, I mostly like the last line about players staying fit - especialy BT - coz he's a sicknote...if you read between the lines that is!!
  15. New stadium - okay, lets for a moment at least, believe that this is possible. Lets believe that Peel Holdings are interested and lets believe that the council will give us the stadium... its at Switch fuccking island. Its like a car park at the best of times! and its miles out of the way for ....almost EVERYONE. Bah! Whats the fooking point!?
  16. Goalkeeper 44 CB 34 CB 34 LB 31 RB 24 (25 this month) Combined age of 167yrs old. Average age of 33.4yrs old. oh dear!
  17. THe first goal was NOT offside - BT chested the ball BACKWARDS to cahill - which is allowed. if you play back towards your own goal, as long as their is an opposition goal keeper, then that is not deemed offside. Alan Hansen and Linekar (MotD) and Andy Gray (Sky-the last word) all thought that it should have been given. The other two disallowed goals where valid decisions - one was offside and one was a push in the back from Stubbs. BUT...we should have been given a penalty in the second half for an aerial challenge on Arteta - the ROvers defender wnet right over the top of him.. However, if we include those goals in our 'not allowed because' tally, then this year we have had 9 goals disallowed. tututututututtutututuututut
  18. After the Rovers game, it was possibly the first time I left the ground looking at the table...at the teams ABOVE us and wondering how their results went... Instead of looking at the teams BELOW us and praying that they got beat... Nice feeling....
  19. Firstly, Turner will only get a ONE match ban, not a three match ban. He is a goalkeeper and the foul committed is delibrate handball, not discent, violent conduct etc.etc. Ruddy was confident against Rovers and he made two good saves that I can recall and he was good in the air, taking the crosses and the ball from a dodgy headed backpass from Phil Neville, that very nearly allowed Bellamy a chance - but for ruddy's quick movement. Ruddy good him! Ruddy brilliant!! Hibbert - man of the match - easily. Valente - storming game, 2nd contender for MoM Arteta - Skills electric - only NOT MoM because I am coming to expect that type of performance from him Cahill - bit quiet at the start, but picked up when things got a bit heated. top quality from then on in. Weir & Stubbs - solid at the back, cant fault the performance although Stubbs fault for Turners sending off. Beattie - cant fault the performance - another contender for MoM - but he ran out of steam with 20 mins to go - but hey, he did do a lot of running when we were a man down. McFadden - looked very sharp - shame that he had to go off for Ruddy. Osman - looked like he took a knock early on - but his touch was still superb and some of his passing....reminds me of Sheedy. Phil Neville - panicked a little for no reason in the 2nd half. Not his strongest game but he did a professional job. Carsley - Didn't really do much, got himself about a bit but thats about it. Good to see him back. Although I dont think that his face will fit in an ever 'better' looking EFC. (Where almost as 'pin up' as the RS team). Overall...nobody can deny that this was a great performance. BT's goal was fantastic and straight off the training ground (although I am surprised that the ref gave it as Arteta took it very quickly). the referee was very poor, adding only to the atmosphere and intensity of the game. the linesmen were equally as poor and seemed very slow and struggled to keep up with the game. Blackburn were...well....shit really. One man advantage for 80 minutes. Against a young keeper that has never played in the Prem, Centre backs with the combined age of 68 and they didn't even really have a decent chance....shite.
  20. If he was any good, surely Moyes would have signed him, given that Moyes signs a load of people all the time....sarcasm, lowest form of ....
  21. I look for the RS result before the Everton result on the TV - why? (i hear you all ask) - because I already know the Everton result - I was at the game!
  22. To be honest - its osman who is filling the vacant strikers role when we push forward. His run in the first minute against city was electric and his pace didn't squander for the whole match. He reminds me (fozzie, dare i say it) of Kevin Sheedy....(not quite as good yet, but he plays in a similar way!)
  23. did Robben Dive - I thought that he had been shot dead.
  24. Leon has been the difference in the Arsenal game, Portsmouth, Man City, Chelsea (although McFudge was good too). I agree - since he has had a regular place, we have been a better team and Neville has someone to feed the ball to.
  25. Firstly - the tackle from Reina was fine and I would have clapped it had it been an Everton player who had done it - he got to the ball and tackled the Chelsea player fair and square. Had the ref been competent (which for some reason they just aren't lately), a free kick would not have been given and the resulting melee would not have happened. The linesman did not flag for a bad challenge and it was right in front of him. I hate the RS - really hate them - but I hate poor referring just as much as it ruins the game and the sending off was dreadful in my opinion.
