Pip playing center back and Rodders in midfield . Looks the better option.

    Malaga

Howard, Hibbert, Lescott, Rodwell, Baines, Neville, Osman, Fellaini, Cahill, Pienaar, Saha.
  4. Again, others have more faith in us than (most of) our own fans do...good realistic unbiased piece I think. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2009/aug/07/premier-league-preview-everton
  5. Australia batting like it's a 20/20 game . 57-1 off 8.2 overs.

    Oh right. Missed that .

Squad for tonight... Nash, Howard, Turner, Neville, Hibbert, Yobo, Lescott, Rodwell, Duffy, Baines, Osman, Gosling, Pienaar, Cahill, Fellaini, Wallace, Baxter, Vaughan, Saha, Jo, Forshaw, Arnoux, Jutkiewicz, Agard. Not seen Forshaw in there before, is that a first?
  8. Had a word on an Aberdeen forum to ask their thoughts on Sigma...
  9. Great! Everyone round to yours then! How many tickets can you get ?
  10. My mistake, it was one of five. The UEFA announcement on the procedure gives no indication of how the groups were arrived at... "The 76 teams have been divided into six groups (groups 1 to 6) of ten teams, and two groups (7 and 8) of eight teams. Within the eight groups an equal number of clubs will be seeded and unseeded in accordance with the club rankings established at the beginning of the season." ...so you have to assume that it was done randomly, other than keeping sides of the same nationality separate .
  11. It was one of six, the draw was randomly divided up into groups of six and seven, same as it was last year (and probably before that). Irrelevant now....the groups were for the purposes of the draw only. If we qualify then the draw will be made for the group stages.
  12. And a very fine analogy it is Hafnia. Sums it up beautifully!
  13. Headingly is traditionally low scoring in tests isn't it? But 72-5 is still very poor.....least our tail is a bit more dangerous now (touches wood).
  14. http://www.sigmafotbal.cz/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SK_Sigma_Olomouc All Czech/Slovakian players bar a couple of Brazilians. I hope Aberdeen are really shite this season, or we could have a game on our hands!
  15. Holy shite....Villarreal are unseeded ! Prayer mats out . So are (according to UEFA) Galatasaray, Brugge, PSV, Lazio, Zenit, Villa, Valencia and Benfica! Hearts are seeded . How do they work that out? Mistakes surely? http://www.uefa.com/live/competitions/uefacup/draw/2010.po/draw_basic.html
  16. And another thing....the squad was no bigger in 07/08 and the players thrived on two games a week! During the group stage we were unbeaten domestically....took seventeen points out of twenty-one in the league and knocked Luton and Wet Spam out of the Carling Cup .
  17. I defy anyone "wanting us to go out" to be cheering the opposition at any stage during the tie, let alone extra time or pens if it came to that. You just won't be able to do it . I'd like Toulouse.....because it's the only game where I could get a ticket for the away leg (although I'd be in with the French, so I'd have to keep my mouth shut ).
  18. ....and that patience has been hugely rewarded recently hasn't it ? Newcastle fans haven't had to be patient, or Leeds before them. Bought their way to...er....success, no haggling, no messing about, pay the asking price and give them the wages. No problem.
  19. I think (if you look at the respective teams) we did well to get 0... Arsenal: Lehmann, Lauren, Campbell, Senderos, Cole, Pires (Fabregas 64), Vieira (Flamini 45), Edu, Reyes, Bergkamp, Van Persie (Henry 45). Subs Not Used: Almunia, Toure. Everton: Wright, Hibbert, Weir, Yobo, Pistone, Carsley, McFadden, Watson, Arteta (Ferguson 75), Kilbane, Beattie (Bent 45). Subs Not Used: Stubbs, Plessis, Turner. That was a hell of an Arsenal team (and how in the world did we get fourth)!
  20. Is it over yet ? Still hiding behind the sofa rocking gently with my hands over my head. Can someone let me know when it's safe to come out .
  21. Just watching the funeral on the beeb news channel (met my wife in the building next door to where he lived and used to do voluntary driving around Wells, went into Fletcher House many times around the time he moved in). Personally (and with no disrespect to Tom or any other current servicemen) I think there is a bit of difference between the conscripts of Paschendale (my grandfather was one) and the professional soldiers of today. The opportunity for heroism is the same perhaps but the circumstances under which they went to war, and the conditions in which they lived are not really comparable for me....and neither are the death rates. My grandfather didn't die until 1957 but he never recovered.
  22. Very tenuous link.....fortunately .
