  1. Literal translations are deceptive....and your grandfather is horrid! No need to get personal about my dear departed relatives . Bloody Welsh !
  2. Not a duplicate thread honest . I unexpectedly (long story) find myself with a day to kill in Madrid in June....anyone ever been? Hotel's only three miles from the Bernabeu so I may well take in a tour but any other suggestions on filling the day would be welcome. On my own btw so it doesn't need to be child or wife friendly .
  3. Glad to hear from you Sporting....I was a bit concerned you may have thrown yourself off a tall building after your little German difficulty .
Allez France (or COYB) !
  5. A good point, our team at Wigan, which must have been the lowest point, was... Tim Howard Phil Neville Joseph Yobo Joleon Lescott Phil Jagielka Tim Cahill Marouane Fellaini Mikel Arteta Leon Osman Louis Saha Ayegbeni Yakubu Not much wrong with that team on paper...only Pienaar missing through injury I guess. And the only two contenders for MOTM were (I think) Howard and Baardhi .
  6. They might not have been two goals down if they'd put out a decent team in the first leg . I still think it's daft. Redknapp whinging on about not being able to take his players on a break before the final like "in the old days." Six games in seventeen games is "crazy." Try Everton in the old days of '85....nine games in twenty-three days including two finals.....and neither of them the Mickey Mouse Cup. Should always play your best available eleven in my view, teams used to be penalised if they didn't.
  7. Interesting man Cage, my favourite of his is 4'33". It's the one piece I can play proficiently on the tuba . "4′33″ is an experimental musical work by avant-garde composer John Cage. It consists of just over four and a half minutes of silence. Though first performed on the piano, the piece was composed for any instrument or instruments and is structured in three movements. The length of each movement is not fixed by the composer, nor is the total length of the piece. The title of the piece should reflect the timings chosen, and could therefore be different at every performance. The modern performance tradition of 4′33″ is to keep the total duration fixed as at the first performance."
  8. ....and another thing! Crap Spurs team (Gomes, Gunter, Chimbonda, Huddlestone, Gilberto, Giovani, Palacios, O'Hara, Bale, Campbell, Obika) playing against Shakhtar so Redknapp can keep his top players for the Carling Cup final.....a completely meaningless piece of silverware useful only because it qualifies you for the....er...UEFA Cup .
  9. I presume that an optimistic view on next season is it ?
  10. You should know better than to respond to Reg by now Jock . Waste of type .
  11. Can someone explain to me why, having put out a full strength team against us in the FA cup, Martin O'Neill has chosen to field a weakened team in the UEFA Cup in Moscow tonight? He obviously thought the FA Cup was worth winning, but the UEFA is apparently not . Wants to concentrate on the league I suppose (they do, after all, have a tough fixture at home to Stoke on Saturday), but I think it's the wrong way of going about it. Davey showed last season that if you play your best team the whole time it works. Continuity, team spirit....if pro footballers get knackered playing two games a week they should try living in the real world, it's not a lot to ask. Hope they go out (it looks like they're about to) and finish sixth in the league.
  12. http://evertonfc.com/news/archive/cheaper-...t-goodison.html
  13. Wanted by FC Rubin Kazan apparently.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...r.html?ITO=1490 Two words spring to mind, and the second one rhymes with cough .
  14. Good story, nice to see. Hoffenheim (who we had a thread about a while back) still hanging on near the top of the German league also, despite a dodgy run recently. Different circumstances as they have a bit of money but still nice to see the traditional top dogs challenged.
  15. The Riverside Bill. And we may not sell out but I can't see us getting only 15,000 whatever form we've been in, think you'd need to go back to the dark days of '83/'84 to see us getting that few.
  16. It is. More than half. 15,602 people there which leaves 19,386 seats empty. Dreadful.
  17. Did anyone see any of the game tonight? I didn't but it beats me how a side as ineffective as Liverpool were against us can go and win in Madrid....without Gerrard and with Torres apparently struggling before being subbed. Are Madrid just poor or is it just that we're really good?
  18. On the face of it an easier game for us....'Boro are pitiful away from home this season (not much better at home). West Ham have the odd decent performance in them, happily settle for 'Boro .
  19. Understandable for the winner of the player of the first preliminary qualifying round in about June last year . Hopefully Mikel will be there anyway.....watching with about 40,000 other Blue "guests" .
  20. Love that shirt Taxi . (With apologies to those who've heard this before) I bought mine an hour after the Wimbledon game in '94 .
  21. Or simply wear an Everton shirt and... 1. Make your team-mates wear psychedelic glasses or... 2. Slip them some hallucinogenic drugs pre-game. Sorted... Disclaimer. Option 2 might have some negative consequences for the team's performance .
  22. Inside out ? Either that or play in goal (badly) .
  23. Barmby was long gone when Davey arrived . And I think there's arguably only one in that list who'd improve our current team, even if they were all at their peak. Maybe another two or three that I'd have for the squad (Campbell, Carsley, possibly Rhino for the passion). So, apart from the obvious one, DM's never sold our best players so I don't think he'd start now....barring an insane offer from City.
  24. Hallelujah....Bill's had a revelation on the road to Domestos, welcome to the brethren of the blessed mate !
  25. They'll have to get past me first :jerry: !
