  1. A lot of players made uncharacteristic mistakes in that game. wright dashed clear out of goal to get a ball he had no chance of reaching. hibbert dithered about while kewill took his time teeing up a shot and all that kind of thing is down to the players being wound up like springs. paralysed and unable to play the kind of natural flowing game that we want to see from them. even the referee was affected. some of his cards were ridiculous.
  2. He's a good enough p;ayer. for liverpool. but the only good striker soton ever had was THE MIGHTY BT!

  4. dunc is, or was, a great asset. its a pity he never learned to control his temper, he would have been a greater player. having said that i think we all know that last season he won us a lotta points. often coming on for the last ten or fifteen minutes he could make a goal and salvage a match. his career is now over, and i think he must know it. he's been his own worst enemy. and he's not the only one in the game. look at george best! i think he deserves our thanks for the great performances he's turned in, and perhaps a little sympathy for his temperamental weaknesses.
  5. gerrards first tackle was a fairly innocuous foul. he was yellow carded because the ref wanted to establish some kind of parameters in the game. his second tackle was criminal. it well deserved a yellow. and 2 yellows makes a red. so thats that. if the tackles had been the other way about he would have got away with it. the ref could have overlooked the first tackle, but not the 2nd. vdm was a straight yellow. no way a red card. that was a criminal decision. and the ref got carried away after that giving out cards for no good reason.
  6. all defenders screw u from time to time. on saturda it was the usually reliable hibbet that allowd the kewell goa. yobo is far from perfect. the superb bac pass to rooney in the manu game is legendary. when moysey thinks he's ready he'll be back. not before!
  7. based on the game against us at the weekend lpoop have no chance. we gave that game away. chelski wont be so charitable.
  8. if the dont like it they will lose the 18 biggest clubs in european football - then they would be fucked. or those 18 clubs would be! how many of their own fans i wonder would despise such a move? i know i despise corporate greed, and thats all this is! an attempt to monopolise our sport for their own financial gain. anyone who would support that is an asshole! and quite frankly i would be delighted to see these rich bastards get their come uppance. and i suspect that they would! soccer fans are working class. not snotty, rich conservative bastards. if they wanna start their own league, go right ahead say i. they will be banging on the door of the premier league withing 2 seasons pleading to be re-admitted.
  9. its time for everyone, including the media to stop creating so much ill will and bear in mind that its only a football match that we all want to enjoy to see some great football. when its over-hyped, as it has been, it doesnt do the players, the fans or football any good at all!
  10. we have to sign a goalie and a striker. some of the existing squad wont be offered new contracts. players we havent seen in a while are:- martyn, lie tie, carsley, pistone. david weir is 36 so this could be his last season too. wouldnt be surprised if they all went. stubbs will go i expect. i think would be a good bet for a back room job if there are any available. vaughns injury looks serious, he's in the u.s. seeing a specialist. hope he makes it back, but who knows! so the situation is that i would expect us to shed a at least 5 players that are at the end of the road, and sign a goalie and a striker at least.
  11. the goals we gave away were pathetic. wright had no business charging out from his goal all the way across towards the edge of the box to try and get a ball that was too far, it was much too close to the forward. he was never gonna get to it first. the kewell goal was as bad. he had about half an acre of space, no-one tried to tackle him as he casually took all the time he needed to tee up his shot. the nearest defender, hibbert looked like a nervous kitten. he completely lost the plot for that crucial moment. as for the own goal it was just one of those things. it went in like a rocket and the goalie never had a chance. and wright also made a brilliant save later from a powerful point blank shot inside the box. he got down on it like a ton of bricks. it was a defensive shambles. as for the referee he was way over the top. the red card against vdm should have been yellow, and we could have done without most of the other yellows as well. gerrard got his first yellow for a fairly innocuous foul tackle but the second was well deserved and he got his marching orders fair and square. we gave the game away, is the best we can say. lpool didnt win so much as we presented it to them. another factor, and an important one, is that there is far too much hype about this derby. it winds the players up like overwound springs and they dont play the game as well as they should. both wrights and hibberts errors wouldnt have occurred in a normal match. its time for everyone, including the media to stop creating so much ill will and bear in mind that its only a football match that we all want to enjoy and see some great football. when its over-hyped, as it has been, it doesnt do the players, the fans or football any good at all!
  12. sporting life Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and Newcastle counterpart Freddy Shepherd have rubbished reports linking Toffees boss David Moyes with the Magpies. All of Tuesday's national newspapers claimed Shepherd has been so impressed with Moyes' efforts at Goodison that the Scot had been added to the shortlist Newcastle have drawn up in their search for a new manager. But Kenwright told evertonfc.com: "I know David Moyes. I know Freddy Shepherd. The story is fabrication and total nonsense - it should be discounted immediately". And Shepherd added: "Bill Kenwright is one of my closest friends in football, and I have phoned him to say that Newcastle United have not approached David Moyes and will not approach David Moyes." good news. moysey is one of the best!
  13. ACCORDING TO SPORTIN LIFE Everton are set to launch summer raids for Crystal Palace striker Andy Johnson and Norwich goalkeeper Robert Green. Toffees manager David Moyes is keen to boost his squad when the transfer window re-opens and is willing to offer £6million to land England striker Johnson. Moyes sees Johnson as the man to solve his side's problems in front of goal as Everton have only scored 24 times in the Premiership this season - the worst record outside the bottom three. But Everton may face a battle to land his man after Johnson admitted he was content at the Championship club. He said: "I'm happy at Palace. There is a great bunch of players, and I would be more than happy to stay." Moyes is also keen to secure a long-term replacement for 39-year-old stopper Nigel Martyn and has identified Canaries goalkeeper Green as his top target.
  14. theres been some comments about dunc. dunc is, or was, a great asset. its a pity he never learned to control his temper, he would have been a greater player. having said that i think we all know that last season he won us a lotta points. often coming on for the last ten or fifteen minutes he could make a goal and salvage a match. his career is now over, and i think he must know it. he's been his own worst enemy. and he's not the only one in the game. look at george best! i think he deserves our thanks for the great performances he's turned in, and perhaps a little sympathy for his tempremental weaknesses. <_<
  15. on current form you'd have to rate bt over crouch. if he can keep scoring in every game i think he'll get a chance. and if he gets a chance, with the class support he'll get in the england squad i reckon he would get the goals. then we could sell him for about 12 million!
  16. there have been a few questionable transfers. and thats something that needs to be sorted. with our budget you can't afford too many mistakes in that area. but generally he's done a good job. were no longer struggling to avoid relegation every year and we seem to be in for a reasonable season after a lousy start. we arent doing as wel as say, spurs or bolton, but then they were never relegations avoiders like us to begin with. now we seem to have consolidate the team we should rely on him to finish the job and start competing for a regular top 6 finish.
  17. stubbsy is a competent player who can still do a good job. but the fact is he's at the end of his carreer at the top level and we took him back out of neccessity rather than desire. if we could have afforded to buy rio ferdinand, or someone like him we would have done.
  18. I'd love to see BT get a run out with england. with the backup and support he would get there i think he would be great.
  19. maybe is the team that he played for that count of course. if you are playing for a club with a negative goal difference it isnt gonna look good on a strikers cv, is it?
  20. I think the main problem with Moyes dealings is his inexperience. Signing a valuable player like this is a collective decision. if the player signed was not the one the scout had recommended then an apalling error has been made somewhere in the chain. there should be consequences. whover made the error should resign or be fired. if it was the md he should stand down. and if its true we signed a player without any member of the management going to see him play, either moyes or his assistant, that is totally unacceptable. this may be an individual error, but more likely its a corporate mistake. in either case there should be consequences.
  21. Agree with Rob here plus he has score 40% of our goals this season... unfortunately that says as much about our other 'strikers' as it does about BT! weve still gotta negative goal record! thats not a great reference. but he's putting in the effort and i hope he does get a lot more goals and a chance to get into the world cup.
  22. Yep - they cost too much hard cash and the results a club gets from them is usually shit... Only really United and the RS that have produced anything decent over the last decade. tony hibbert, david unsworth, francis jeffers, leon osman, & off course rooney. ALL recent academy products. Promising youngsters on the current payroll from the academy nclude, Mark hughes currently captain of the reserve side. Patrick Boyle, Laurence Wilson, James Vaughn
  23. "Experienced former Liverpool goalkeeper joined Portsmouth in July 2005 after a four-year spell in Spain. Helped the Reds to a cup treble before leaving Anfield in December 2001. Spent three years with Real Sociedad and then one at Real Mallorca prior to agreeing on a return to English football by signing for the Fratton Park club. The Holland keeper is an excellent shot-stopper who is well organised and has a commanding presence inside the box. " He sounds like he can do the job. we'll have to wait and see of course. he's gotta a lot of the right experience and he may see this as a big opportunity to show off his ability.
  24. BT is a workhorse. but thats not enough to get him into the england sqad. goals are what count. if he can start scoring more prolifically he has a chance. i suspect that he has potentially greater ability than Crouch, but he's gotta prove it. and quick. the world cups not far away!
  25. <_< i think that there should be a fans association that can raise our concerns with the FA!
