  1. Redundant, I know, but just wanted to emphasize their common country of origin.
  2. Some may hate RM's optimism, but he can win people over when it matters.
  3. You just watch him become the next Luis Suarez from Uruguay.
  4. A bit below the belt, Mike. These guys are heroes and most likely saved a lot of lives.
  5. What a difference two weeks can make. Back then, it was all doom and gloom after the draw against Watford, how we won't be bringing in new players, and how we'll be bottom of the league after the next few games. I think it's called "momentum", combined with the British penchant to always be depressed (the weather, maybe?).
  6. But you might not be around to take it. http://www.livescience.com/58-study-optimists-live-longer.html
  7. What's his fitness levels? Hope he doesn't run out of gas. We don't want him running on funes.
  8. These guys just shouldn't be paid. A total disgrace to put such little effort into it. For the sake of the crowd, at least try and pretend the game matters.
  9. I doubt at this point that the striker will be Austin. My guess would be a loan deal from Europe.
  10. Seems it might be announced later today. Whoohoo!!
  11. Here are more. Mirror: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-open-talks-dynamo-kiev-6288593 Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3205202/Everton-closing-15m-Dynamo-Kiev-midfielder-Andriy-Yarmolenko.html Echo: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/andriy-yarmolenko-signing-would-represent-9899636 As several articles state, it would be a "major signal of intent" by Everton FC.
  12. The BBC: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/34012486 ESPN: http://www.espnfc.com/everton/story/2572658/everton-bid-andpound%3b15m-for-andriy-yarmolenko-dynamo-kiev FutbolUkraine: "Everton and Dynamo Kyiv management are currently meeting in Monaco to discuss the transfer of Andriy Yarmolenko." As I've said from the beginning, this one has legs.
  13. It's a business. Putting money into the club is an investment, and any owners will expect at least a 10 percent return. The principal different I see with Everton is that the CEO and marketing team are totally inept. So much more could be done to generate cash from the team's proud history.
  14. Wouldn't it be awesome to see him play this weekend?
  15. Nope. We should be demolishing them, just as we did United last year. You don't make it to the top except by believing you deserve to be there and can outplay every team in the league.
  16. That's the key point. Of course, no one wants to lose exciting games about teams near the bottom, and no one has suggested that. But when playing City this weekend, I say go for it. It's why, incidentally, the league changed years ago from 2 points for a win to 3 points, because too many teams simply played for a point and were making football as exciting as watching grass grow. Now, teams that go for it and win every other game secure more points than teams that park the bus every week for a single point.
  17. That's a very sweeping statement. It's not usually a good idea to tar everyone with the same brush, and I too would hope he's wrong.
  18. It'll more likely be "I disagree with dad."
  19. It's not a one-off, at least from what I hear.
  20. I shall take the hook, if only to make clear what I've said before and not have words wrongly put in my mouth. Apologies to others reading the thread for this short digression. Here's what I wrote when introducing myself over two years ago. Do you get that? Let me repeat, "I'm learning all about the Blues and intend to follow them. Undoubtedly, some will claim I am fickle for switching teams, but I don't see it that way." Clearly, two years is not long enough for you to accept that. So be it. And all credit to MC for remembering that, in my childhood years, I used to support Spurs. "Nice one, Cyril" and all that. For the record, my oldest son has since switched from red to blue - and posts on here from time to time. I won't give away his username.
  21. Sell the team's soul to the devil? No way! Prove to the world that it can be done the right way. We don't need to be some selfish billionaire's plaything.
