  1. If only Lukaku had scored rather than Naismith. Then you'd be running away with it!
  2. I think he's on tablets myself. It's unfortunate that McGeady was sent off last night, especially since, as most noted, he took the first yellow on the chin to save the team. Plus, plenty were praising him at half-time for his effort and commitment and contribution. All that was turned on its head when an over-enthusiastic challenge cost him a sending off. There's no doubt that he's inconsistent and can be frustrating, but I can see definite signs of improvement. He doesn't deserve much of the flak he's getting. Maybe Mirallas can teach him a couple of new tricks. In return, he could teach Mirallas the offside rule.
  3. I'm surprised no one has posted to this thread after today's game. I was working and couldn't watch but, by all accounts, Robles played a blinder. He's taken so much flak ever since he joined the team, so maybe it's time to now give the lad credit. He's earned the right to continue in goal, and he even has the chance to keep the position when Howard is back.
  4. Someone posted a message about a week ago about Eto'o potentially being disruptive to loyalty and team spirit. It was all hearsay - someone who knows someone - but it would explain why a move to Sampdoria could be happening.
  5. Beware, though, that there are lot of charlatans in the field. Ask around, and choose wisely.
  6. That won't help. SEO is a science in itself. Indeed, some things hurt your rating rather than benefit from it - and it may take weeks to recover. It's not one of those things to guess at. I've worked with a couple of SEO pros, and the knowledge they have is mind-blowing. Google changes the rules all the time, and they keep up with them and know how to improve a website's rating.
  7. To do this properly, you should contact someone whose job is SEO (search engine optimization). Such people know how to build up your reputation on line so you move up the priority list for Google searches. It costs money, but a good SEO guy is worth it. I tried to do some things myself, learning what I could from the Internet, but, as in most things, it's worth paying someone who does this for a living. All the best with this and with the new business.
  8. The first shot was at a tight angle, and I thought he did well to block it. Immediately, he pounced on the spilled ball as a City player rushed in. Frankly, I think that shot would have been difficult to hold. Agree with you that he needs to be tested, and maybe the next few weeks will allow that. Personally, I think he has considerable ability and just needs the chance to prove it.
  9. Apologies from the US for the absolutely disgraceful attitude displayed of the country's president and vice-president by not bothering to attend today's march in Paris, even though they had no other events on their calendars. The US attorney general was actually in Paris but chose to give interviews to US morning shows instead of attending the march. If Israel's president could march alongside the Palestinian president, and if the Ukrainian leader could march alongside the Russian foreign minister, I would have thought the US leadership could have walked with its allies, instead of simply asking the ambassador to attend. Sadly, this is the latest in a long series of snubs to Western leaders. I would hope that the next US president, whoever that may be and no matter which party they represent, will stand with allies in time of need. Rest assured that, from all the comments I've heard from friends and neighbors, the American people really do stand with Europe at this time.
  10. But it builds confidence and momentum. Two draws in succession where we came from behind. In other threads, most agreed that a few ugly wins and draws are quite OK - and this wasn't particularly ugly.
  11. Two people predicted a draw for this game and secured five points: Romey and yours truly. For January, we are tied with Matt and rusty for the lead. For the season, the TT Average retains the lead, while MikeO tops the leader board for average points per prediction.
  12. BBC claims game is in jeopardy because of part of a stadium roofing blowing in the wind.
  13. I remember this. My dad would watch the wrestling every Saturday on ITV, and they would show latest scores at the bottom of the TV. In sequence, it was 1-0 to Colchester, then 2-0, then 3-0. Then those cheering the underdogs were getting nervous: 3-1 and 3-2. When the score was announced during the 5pm results, it was amazing to see. Leeds at the time were at the top of their form, one of the best teams in England.
  14. There are rumours now that de Gea will be leaving United. Maybe we're planning to sign him?
  15. There was a time when I was one of the principal spokespeople for a big corporation. Many in that position go through extensive training (although I confess that I never did). Analysts and reporters and bankers and investors are professionals, and they know how to get information out of you. You learn over time how to use their questions to get your message across rather than give the answers they seek. I've seen representatives of other companies give away sensitive information and regret it later, so even official spokespeople can mess up. Sometimes you have to be evasive, other times not so because that in itself would be interpreted wrongly. At other times you must stonewall and say you can't comment, but that too can be reported the wrong way in the press. It's all a game. In general, it's better to answer a question other than the one asked or to repeat what you've said before. Here we're talking about players, not trained spokespeople. Yes, they're given instruction, but they aren't a match for a good questioner. They'll sometimes say things they shouldn't, but so be it. They learn from it, the manager deals with it, and you move on. In this light, there's no way Martinez should react angrily. Neither should he raise the issue to clarify. If he's asked, he can trivialize it and move on. For me, this is a complete non-story.
  16. 1) Leon Osman 2) Tony Hibbert and Tim Howard (joint) 3) Joe-Max Moore 4) Victor Anichebe 5) James Vaughan 6) Tomasz Radzinski 7) Mikel Arteta, Gerard Deulofeu, and Joel Robles (3) 8) {I screwed up the question!} 9) Duncan Ferguson and Richard Dunne 10) Slaven Bilic
  17. I completely miswrote question 8. I should have asked who is the only German player to have been capped for his country while an Everton player. It's Shkodran Mustafi.
  18. That's probably because he wants to play Besic, McCarthy, and Barkley over the weekend.
  19. Lukaku, but Robles deserve a mention given how much flak he's been getting of late. His save was crucial. Plus, he stopped a near post shot earlier that would have proved difficult for Howard.
