  1. Naismith seen at Hereford United ( sorry could,nt resist the sarcasm)
  2. Yes , just as I did that last post, but if theres an ounce of truth in it remains to be seen.
  3. Im only up for Victor going out anywhere if it means Velios at last gets a look in.
  4. Fuck Fellaini and Fuck Moyes, what a mature post I know, but its just how wound up I feel.
  5. Peter H. Ive heard the same but don't count your chickens mate, im shitting bricks over this. Remember Arteta last deal of the whole window. No matter what business we do losing Bainesy would devastate me.....stop press Sky just said we are looking at a Chelsea striker on loan and its probably Lukaku, now that would be mint. And if the rumour about Bill refusing to talk to Moyes is true that's just brilliant.. Twitchy bum time be fucked, my nerves are shot.
  6. To Newty 82. I don't know how to quote properly, but I have to say what a fantastic post, ive seen some crackers since joining Toffee Talk. but yours is the best one ive come across yet. So well thought, balanced, well reasoned and clearly you did your homework, simply a brilliant and very interesting top quality posting. Hats off and respect to you, will keep an eye out for your posts. if anyone comes back with sarcasm over my praise then bollocks to them. your post deserves every bit of appreciation.. Well done mate.
  7. If we lose Fellaini , Baines or god forbid both, the talk is James McCarthy ( who we all agree would be good) and now today Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea ( again can see the sense) and a guy called Bruno Martins Indi who I confess to knowing nothing about. But im thinking more and more about Jermaine Defoe. 1. A player with a proven track record and always looked the business. 2. warming the bench, seemingly not fancied by AVB. 3.Been linked with moves, dying for first team football, and a point to prove. Our strikers Jela and Kone don't look the part at the moment, although I think highly of both, its just not happening yet, Defoe would be a major kick to both of them, and see no reason why Defoe could,nt play along side one of them. And for Everton he could be another Kevin Campbell another player who mostly forgotten, came to us and was brilliant and earned himself life long Everton fan respect. Im half expecting some of you to shoot me down on this, or tell me reasons why we cant that im unaware of or have heard something about Defoe,s situation that I don't know. But bearing that in mind I totally stand by this post, However I don't know his current price some of you will no doubt enlighten me. If we do lose 1 or 2 of our best, McCarthy and Bertrand I think by all means yes. But I think Defoe ( if possible or available) could turn out fantastic for us so isn't he worth looking at ? Might get a barrage of you all over this post for ignorance or not knowing the situation with him, but I would absolutely love Everton to look at Defoe and see what ive been thinking for ages...But again emphasise its just my wishful thinking ,but to my mind its a good idea Load up and fire away at me if you have a mind to...But it does make sense to me.
  8. Thought you all might like to know (or not) but living in south wales, ive heard a lot of Cardiff fans views since the match. Most often heard word on Everton is ' QUALITY' they were impressed by our boys. Also refreshingly honest about Cardiff. They accept they will be outplayed a lot , but hope their grit and tenacity especially at home see them through. But nice to see they rate us.
  9. Its not Roberto, we just have some players off colour for want of a better description. that's the problem and most of us know it. But you are right about the every cloud bit Brett, perhaps our hopes of a flying start were too unrealistic or a touch naïve. People posting positive or negative are only showing they care.
  10. Barkley or distin. Barkley for his effort and not hiding, distin because how often does he lets us down.. Hardly ever.
  11. Just got back from the game, 3rd league game we should have won, all the possession but the lack of punch and end product is a worry. First half fellaini played more like a centre half never seen him sit so deep, Again Barkley our most likely player always wants the ball, does,nt hide or shirk, other than him thought Distin had a good game, and him and jags mostly solid. But the ball went through our midfield too often. Trouble is too many of our players not firing yet. Mirallas, Pienaar and Ossie the main culprits. whats up with Mirallas ? on the fringes of everything, looking out of sorts. Not many teams will give us the freedom of the pitch like Cardiff and we lacked that killer touch all game, really thought Kone might snatch it at the death. It is frustrating and I shudder to think what would happen if Baines and Felli go. Under Walter Smith we had this similar lack of cohesion, although Walter was far more negative. At least we have,nt lost, but Norwich, WBA and Cardiff should have been beaten. My plus point was I managed to get in with our wonderful fans after all. managed to get an away ticket and sort the Cardiff one I first had. We are all worried and a bit disheartened at the moment but don't let the negatives obsess us. must try and stay positive and hope things turn for us. One good win is the tonic needed. The great support this club has will always be there. This post is a jaded one also, im knackered from racing through Cardiff for my train, not a young man anymore early night calling, but I was there to support my lads, and the great company of Evertonians made it not a wholly bad day. Rub of the green, one foot or head in the right place and we might turn around. Come on blues, come on Roberto we are behind you. And a poor performance off me post wise also.
  12. So gutted, so sick of this whole business, im at a loss for words. Was dying for Baines to say, no I don't want to go, I want to stay at Everton. But the signs for him and Felli are ominous. Will we ever see the likes of a Matt Le Tissier ( Southampton) or a Steve Bull (Wolves) again). 2 players who despite constant and numerous offers, stayed totally loyal out of sheer love for their club, Both won no honours, but both played for England. I know Hibbo Loves the club, but those 2 I mentioned were 2 in demand players could literally take their pick, and yet they stayed We just will not see their like again ever And before anybody says what a naïve post, I,d say its just the hope that one of my favourite players stays out of love for Everton and us fans. I am a fool to think it. One bright spark today, got a ticket today for the Cardiff game after I had all but given up. Going with a decent Proper Cardiff fan and I,ll have to control all urges and sit quietly in a Cardiff stand. But I,ll be watching Everton so im happy. Players come players go, but that royal blue shirt is forever.
  13. Bit unfair there Zoo, they are a league 1 side who have lost 3 out of their last 4, they were aiming for the pen shoot out and bar one terrible error nearly got it. Good luck to them and their fans who made the journey. Yes we should have had a hatful, but we got through that's the main thing. But Stevenage made us work till the end. Still totally convinced we need a target up front be it victor or Felli (if he stays) to play alongside Jela or Kone ( who still looks rusty to me) Tons of neat approach play and passing, but need the plan b, when we cant play our way through.
  14. Thanks for the edit on my post Mike O, Once again our lads put us through it against a lower league side. Did we expect anything else ? Always been the Everton way in cups, not good for the hearts of older guys like myself.
  15. For the 3rd game running, Ross barkley,, Have we seen Johnny,s last game at Goodison ?.
  16. Just sheer relief, was dreading penalties with our record. Applaud Stevenage for their magnificent effort. They made one mistake all night for Felli,s goal. must say Ossie the player I thought our new passing style would suit most seems to be the one finding it hardest.
  17. Notice a lot of you talking about the Europa league a lot along with the Capital cup. To me the Europa league is the side issue. Wish to explain myself with a perspective from an unsuccessful then a successful Everton. Bear with me and you,ll see what im getting at. 1. Take Mick Lyons the unluckiest Everton captain ever, one of my earliest Everton heroes, a true stalwart who would run through walls for the club. Captain at a time when Liverpool were winning absolutely everything and how hard that was for us fans. A, In 1977 we lose the league cup final to Aston Villa after 2 replays. B. Same year F.A cup semi final, we are drawing 2-2 with Liverpool. Bryan Hamilton scores a perfectly good goal. Infamous ref Clive Thomas calls it wrongly offside, we are thrashed 3-0 in the replay at Maine Road. C. 1980 F.A cup semi Final replay Elland Road. We are 1-0 down 10 mins left, Brian Kidd equalises we press forward. Then in extra time right at the death Frank Lampard breaks our hearts. Total and utter despair, awful to take. D. No medals in his whole career for a great Evertonian. Ditto, Andy King, Terry Darracott, Ronnie Goodlass, George Wood ( loved him, great keeper, great bloke) In fact my best memory from around 1975-80 and the only consolation was the Andy King screamer that beat that legendary Liverpool team at Goodison in 1978. Another great sweat blood for the club type Mark Higgins in the early 80,s ..No medals. Now the success, one of the best days of my life. Sat May 19th 1984 F.A cup final v Watford.. From my point Went to Wembley along with a mate no ticket, went in hope. About 12.15 on the day we bought two £5 terrace tickets for £30 each. Bear in mind you could have a good night on £5 in those days. They were Watford end tickets, so we went shouting around the mingling Watford fans for a swap. We exchanged with a father and son who had Everton end tickets. Behind the goal where Sharpy scored the first goal, Andy Gray got the 2nd.. seeing Kevin Ratcliffe lift that trophy, hard to describe the elation, the heart bursting pride, the sheer magic of it. We of course went on to be fantastic, but nothing will ever beat that day. So special, so proud, the sheer joy among our fans that day was unbeleiveable. You might think ive rambled or think whats my point, but its simple. We now gone 18 years without silverware, we are not of the stature we were, to us fans Everton are the biggest and best club on earth. But around Europe we are not thought of that way. So the Capital One and the F.A cup are our most realistic chance of doing something, and hope we go full tilt for both. People go on about your 4th place ,and your Europa league all they like, but I want to see an Everton captain (hopefully Jags this Season) climb those Wembley steps an lift a trophy for Everton football Club. That's what is remembered, that's what matters. Take hibbo for instance, imagine him getting a medal before his career finishes and what it would mean. When players retire they want to say to their grandkids I won that medal in a cup final for Everton. The Europa league is a bonus or not, but the traditions we love, the if you know your history, everthing we treasure about our clubs heritage comes from the Everton teams that won trophies. To any younger Evertonian, who has,nt seen it happen in their lifetime, I would say. Keep loving the club, keep you faith good times and bad. cos believe me Everton winning a trophy is the most fantastic feeling on this earth, and I hope we,ll see it again. Long post but hope you all understand why I had to say it.
  18. You are quite right Matt every Everton Game is a huge event, but the Cardiff one is not just my personal thing Because of the international break the morale boost of a win would be tremendous, on the other hand two weeks is a long time to stew over a defeat. Then Chelsea a team who always give us a hard time. That's what I was mainly concerned about. PS Just watched Man United Moyes come out at Old Trafford, was he ever our boss ? Pass the sick bucket.
  19. Thanks a lot tonk, matt, pete, just an amateur finding my way, but joking aside isn't Cardiff a huge fucking game Desperate to win, so badly my guts are tensing even now. Everton Football Club put you through every emotion there is but that why we are so proud and love the club so much. Life and a lot more.
  20. Sorry to post again here, but as you can tell, I don't how to quote any of you properly, or getting the spacing right but iam trying. ( Very some of you may say).
  21. Fucking hell PS again, meant non Cardiff fans cant stand them, still learning lads as you see.
  22. It was just to a newcomer some of you guys look like you are war, bear in mind us newbies cannot tell it just looks a bit daft ( A what the fuck is this about kind of thing) On the plus side, this side has some great contributors, people like Rubes, Zoo, Matt, Mike O, Haf, Cornish Steve. Ive come to really enjoy what they have to say. And many others. And yeah you and your sparring partner Dk, good lads when you aint bollocking each other. Cardiff away is a damn huge game, with an international break ( hate them) and then Chelsea we need a win sooner the better. Credit Cardiff they battled like hell against City, and this neat play we are testing will be a worry against a team that defends with 10 men behind the ball, plus that cauldron atmosphere. Im tense, I want a win here as bad as if it were the shite. Thought Caulker was outstanding, keep him fit and they,ve got a gem. Still no luck on the ticket front. Imagine my beloved Everton playing 30 miles down the road and I cant get in ( hard to take) To let you all know all none Cardiff fans in wales cant stand them. Cardiff as a city means no more to me than say Leeds or Birmingham the only welsh club I don't mind is Newport, We got drawn in cups 3 times in the eighties and I was there each time. remember the one in the F.A Cup 1-0 down with 3 mins left when Sheeds equalisied. Back to Cardiff and they are convinced they are going to hammer us and are very obnoxious about it. I,ll have hell if we lose. So come on blueboys, make me so happy, turn it on, show what Everton are about, please, please win this match.
  23. Don't worry we,ve had a few players off the red shite, namely Peter Beardsley and Gary Ablett. Both did a great job for Everton. Hope your start improves along with ours, all the members will welcome you once they read your post, but it can be a bit caustic on here at times. stay out of the nonsense and talk Everton and you will find it a very good and enjoyable (and addictive site) Im hooked myself.
  24. Avinalaff.. If you have an issue with DK that's your business, I just commented on a good well put post and I happened to agree with it. And I have no idea if he,s been to Goodison don't know the man, that was a bit of a low blow no need of it. Ive been to watch Everton about 400 times not near enough I,d go every game if I could, but when I can afford it im there. Im only interested in the the football issues, the personal stuff im not, although I,ll comment on posts I disagree with. And mate I really hope you take a joke in the sense of fun it was intended not see it as an insult. So here goes.. Have to say your crest looks like a Mosque. (Only a joke your name is avinalaff after all. all the best.
  25. Hello Alguna welcome to toffee talk, must be exciting to have Almeria in with the big boys, will keep an eye out for their games and results. Everton are facing a big season of transition and I along with most Evertonians are totally behind Roberto Martinez. 2 draws so far, should have won both but very early days, playing under a new boss and a new football philosophy. Be interesting if you keep us posted on Almeria, like to know their history attendances etc. All the best for the season, lets hope both Almeria and our beloved blues exceed expectations.
