  1. .Here, here to all the above comments, Moyes has acted like a total fucking prick, wait till the bastard next steps foot at Goodison, a damn site difference to his last. Wanker ! never thought I could dislike someone so quickly, especially one I used to admire.
  2. Find myself in total agreement with D.Kane. With an ounce of luck we would be celebrating 6 points, don't forget Norwich took 4 points off us last season ( And we should have won both) a draw there is no disgrace. Today a lot of people thought West Brom would roll over and join in Roberto,s first home game spirit and hand us 3 points. My one big complaint is why Naismith is always brought on, why oh why not Oviedo far more creative and always looking to make things happen. And in a game like today bring Victor on for at least the last 10 minutes, go route one and just bombard their box, he has that fantastic tight turn that has paid off so many times. Hope the lads manage to knock a few past Stevenage midweek to boost confidence a bit. There has,nt been too much wrong and at least we have,nt lost. Moyes was,nt exactly renowned for having flying starts. Goodison seemed primed for a party today and the expectation was a home banker but West Brom were the poopers. Lets look forward to Cardiff , want a win there really badly being a welsh Evertonian.
  3. Had the pleasure of meeting Dave on a number of occasions, so much time for so many people. A true gentleman and devoted Evertonian. God bless you Dave in your blue heaven...LEGEND !
  4. .A very frustrating 90 minutes, hope it does.nt bring out the doom and gloom brigade. West Brom came with a game plan and have to say they executed it well, they stifled the midfield, Olson was like a rash over Felli, and with Shane Long in particular worried our defenced hoping to nick 1. Cant remember the last time Pienaar was so quiet, Barkley again looked the brightest, and wish Jela starts getting the offsides right again caught far to often. But Albion also covered our threat on the flanks really well. A moments luck and we would have won, but credit Albion they got what they came for, im not too disheartened But please blues beat Cardiff for me, hate the gobby bastards, obviously I know a lot of their fans and they are full of it. 3 points and a show, or a last minute own goal, praying we don't lose. Still trying to get a ticket to be there. 2 wins for Liverpool not pleasant either. come on RM, so rooting for you and that first win.
  5. What a negative post, give Roberto a chance for fucks sake, Would ask the person who started this subject, who else would he have had as our new manager. RM has so far gone about his business in an impressive way. We know there will be a bad run, its sods law, lets give the man our total backing. For Christ sake having such a negative view this early into Roberto,s tenure is so counter productive.. .Fail to see the point of such negativity. But of course the poster is entitled to his opinion .
  6. PS Above my picture it says ANDREW COFFEY . Can someone tell me what that's about ?
  7. Big Nev,s comments were the same as ours. Difference being his will be seen by a lot more people which is good. As for Everton treating Wigan the same...Dave Whelan has said himself that Bill Kenwright and Everton Football Club do their business in the right way, as we did when we approached them for Martinez. He also said Everton act with class and respect...Whelan,s own words. Also interesting that United have now officially wrote to Chelsea asking them to stop coming in for Rooney. David Moyes is trying to prove to United staff and fans that he is in the Ferguson mode, non sentimental and ruthless in pursuit of the goals of Manchester United, but truth be known he has acted like a total prick. Today he said he will continue to pursue players right up to the closing of the transfer window . I hate the bastard now, he,s basically trying to bully Everton as if we some small fry, a total lack of class or respect. This business will probably drag on right to the last miniute on deadline day. Praying that Everton holds its ground and fucks United off. Instead of calming down im more pissed off with this every day, when all I want is to watch our games and hopefully see us win. and Roberto get a real good start. David Moyes is dead to me. .
  8. All the great posts on this issue show the depth of feeling it has stirred up. Remember when Real Madrid started chasing Christiano Ronaldo ? Forget Fergusons exact words, but it was along the lines of Real Madrid lacking class, being disrespectful and generally acting in a underhand and unprofessional manner. Wonder what his views are of the way his club is acting. Add to it the hardball Moyes is playing over Rooney, a player desperate to leave Old Trafford, what a fucking hypocrites David moyes and all at Manchester United are. Fine for them to behave atrociously to other clubs then. What an unclassy shower of shit they are. Im resigned to the fact Fellaini will leave either now or January, thought it for a while, and if we sell him I hope its to anyone except Man Utd, and whoever it is for the very top price. Leighton Baines is an all together more worrying matter, just praying that he stays or tells us one way or another. Jeffers, Rooney, Lescott we,ve been down this road so often. Imagine how we will feel if Baines left very last deal of the transfer window like Arteta. Wish I could be just looking forward to our forthcoming games, not worrying about this bastard business.
  9. I cant remember the last time ive felt such anger as I do today, ive been raging about this all day. £28 million for baines and felli. The clubs response was magnificent, keeping it quiet over the weekend not to say until now and the statement calling the bid derisory and insulting. Add shameful, offensive and any superlative you want. What happened to the mutual respect and special relationship with Bill kenwright ? His admiration and regard for the traditions and all Everton stand for ? And his respect for the fans who backed him 1OO per cent ? The answer to all the above is bullshit and more bullshit. Ok the United board made the bid but it was Moyes who instigated it, bainesy even taking his age age into account is worth at least £15 million, and combined with Fellaini even a £38 million offer, would,nt be enough. I expect Felli to go, he,s been making come get me noises for a few seasons now, so it would not be s shock. I would love Leighton to come out and say I want to stay at Everton, really would love to know his thoughts. But if he asked to go, favourite or not I only want players who want to wear the royal blue shirt. But if any of them leave we must screw every damn penny out of United or whoever. This could have massive implications for our season, and once again we face a transfer window with trepidation. Us fans have our gripes with the board, lack of investment, our joke commercial side, but we have earned the right to with our loyalty. But we all try to be constructive because we love Everton. But when an outside party comes and insults Everton Football Club, then we rally as one. I have lost all my respect for David Moyes, still have the grace to say he did mostly a good job for us. But he more than most knows out financial situation, and thought he could use it for Uniteds advantage forget the emotional farewells and sentiments. David Moyes is now our enemy, him and Manchester United have offered massive insult to all that is Everton F.C and in my eyes no fucker is allowed to do that.
  10. Cant remember the last time I felt as angry as I do right now. Heard about the joint £28 million bid for Bainesy and Felli in work, and ive seethed and raged all day about it. Our club,s response magnificent, hats off for not making it public at the weekend to shadow over our first game, and the statement saying Derisory and Insulting is just spot on. Add to it Shameful, offensive and any superlative you like. Its a vile insult to Everton Football Club. What happened to the special relationship and mutual respect with Bill Kenwright then ? Or your so called regard for the fans who backed you 100 per cent ? Or your admiration and regard for the traditions and pride of Everton F.C ? Answer to all the above bullshit and more bullshit. Leighton Baines, even taking his age into account is worth at least £15 million, and with felli combined the starting bid should have been at least £35 million, and even that would have been turned down. David moyes knows damn well the offer is laughable. Imagine he was still our boss, he would have been full of offended indignation and told united to stuff it. Ok it could be argued that the united board tabled the bid, but moyes instigated it, and who is more aware of the financial situation at Everton, he,s dealt with it for years. Fellaini to be honest, has been making the come get me noises for a few seasons, and I expect him to go, but if he does I hope our club hold out for maximum top whack fee. Would love to know Leighton Baines private thoughts on this, want nothing more than for him to come out and say, I want to stay at Everton. All this speculation does him no favours either, but he came out and said he wants to play for Man Utd then again screw the bastards for every penny. If bainesy ever says he wants to go, then he must. Fav player or not im only interested in players who want to wear the royal blue shirt. Forget the emotional send off, still have the grace to admit he did a mostly fine job for us, but make no mistake he is now the enemy. As Evertonians we all have our gripes with the board, lack of investment, pathetic commercial side, but we have the right to earned by years of loyalty. But when an outsider insults Everton Football club, we rally around our club and fiercely defend everything it stands for. Moyes will find this out when he returns to Goodison with them. Today I have lost all respect for David Moyes, and feel contempt for Manchester Unied.
  11. Decided this is part of our forums ive got to keep quiet on. I have this massive superstition about predicting Everton wins. Been like it for years, convinced that if a predict a win its bad karma. Always strong gut feelings about our results but saying we,ll win a massive no no for me. Any other club and their results easy no problem, cos they don't matter to me Our results mean so much to me that im afraid to say when we should win. I,ll be the first to say its daft, bottling out, or just plain daft. All week I think about our next match and how I think it will go. But my Everton superstitions are so old, and I cant shake them off. All my friends know what im like on this, big piss takes over it, but even against Stevenage in the cup, I wont predict. Is anybody else like this ? I doubt it. im a stupid sod, first to admit it.
  12. To Mike O, Thanks for the info mate, but there is a South Wales branch and the minute I could go more regular I'll contact them. Still trying to get a ticket for Cardiff, and I was due to go to Goodison for the Newcastle game, but bloody Sky picked it for a Monday night. Now a trip is planned for the Hull City game. Want nothing more than to go as often as I used to, but until then I go when I can. Again Mike O, thank you for thinking of me.
  13. Barkley really put in a shift, a mature an influential performance glad RM Gave him a start. Distin also had a good game, what fitness for an older player. But hate the fact that we always seem so vulnerable after taking a lead, and age old Everton problem But a lot of us predicted a draw, and it was a really entertaining 2nd half. So overall a decent first match.
  14. Exact same prediction as Cornish Steve 1-1 Jelavic. 2.30 as I post this, usual butterflies starting. Come on blues our dreams are with you.
  15. Welcome to the site buddy, always had respect for Villa see them as very similar to us> Great club, great tradition but Struggling to compete with the money boys. Feel that Villa and Everton are 2 clubs that still have their soul, if you get my meaning. Hope you respect our beloved blues the same way. .
  16. Welcome Ernie ( If you don't mind being called that), Be interesting to hear your views. Would like to hear what are the most welcoming grounds in the Championship, best atmosphere etc.
  17. Replying to a question off Coffin dodger about who,s the best Everton ball player ? Thought long and hard about this, and could,nt pinpoint just one, so had to pick the ones that stood out for me. And there are a good few. So in order of time heres mine. 1. Duncan Mackenzie. A superb natural talent, he oozed skill and a great entertainer and had that unpredictable genius. He had that charisma, added a touch of Hollywood if you like. Trouble was he was to individual for a disciplinarian like Gordon Lee. Well loved and still is at Goodison. 2.Dave Thomas. One of the unluckiest players ever, could have been an Everton legend. He was the idol of QPR when we signed him. Fit and at his best, what a player. When he raced down the wing the ball was glued to his feet, left opposition players for dead, and would have been an England regular. Sadly Dave was cursed by injuries, ruined his career. In full flow a sight to remember. 3.Adrian Heath. When we first signed Inchy I among many others was,nt that impressed, but how wrong we were. Great first touch, could turn in a flash and had such a deceptive pace, so quick over short bursts. He caused havoc running into penalty areas, mazy runs, tight close control. Him and Sharpy my favourite Everton front two without a doubt. I,ll never forget that awful day he got that long term injury. I was at the game v Sheffield Wednesday on a horrible rain lashed day. Happened in front of the main stand and you could instantly see it was a real bad one. If my memory serves me right it was Brian Marwood who knobbled Adrian with an atrocious challenge. Game finished 1-1 but it was irrelevant. We then signed Andy Gray and Inchy was never the same player, still good but he was brilliant before that injury robbed us of him. 4.Trevor Steven Mr cool. so comfortable on the ball always seemed to have time and space. Great with 1 2 passing and never seem to be ruffled. Didn't even seem to break into a sweat, didn't have to cos he was that good. And on the other wing Everton,s all time king of free kicks Kevin Sheedy. Why is it that whenever pundits talk about the great teams of the past, ours is never mentioned ? Best Everton team ive ever seen an honour to watch them. And I think one of the best teams of all time. Totally pisses me off the lack of respect todays so called experts give them. All they remember is sodding Liverpool. 5.Andre Kanchelskis. What an amazing first season he had with us. So fast, so athletic, skinned defenders alive, tremendously exciting to watch, always had Goodison on its feet We signed a world class player, the excitement when he first came was awesome. Sadly he seemed to fade just as fast. But for a time he thrilled us all. 6. Peter Beardsley Besides having such talent beardo was a grafter, a totally unselfish but great player. Unmarkable, all over the place, a man who really put in a shift and never let us down and an eye for the goal. It is the measure of the man that he is totally respected at every club he played for, and that is a rare thing. Modest man let his talent do the talking. 7, Thomas Gravesen Does this surprise anyone ? it just might, But ive saw Tommy play like a Brazillian, he could be breathtaking..Passing, setting off on runs, dribbling like a Maradona and breaking up every opposing play, ably assisted by the workhorse Lee Carsley. Trouble with our Tommy was the very next match he,d turn into a lunatic, hacking people down, getting carded constantly and generally playing like a headless chicken. You would not believe it was the same man. A real Jekyll and Hyde character, but at his best a great Everton player. 8.Kevin Mirallas. Of the current team, he,s the one that excites me, always looks like something is going to happen, crowd favourite and again a very skilful lad Some rough edges, does,nt always make the right decisions but he has all the attributes in place. Hope we can hold on to him. I also rate Bryan Oviedo very highly, and want to see a lot more of him. Well there you are Mr Dodger, hope it was,nt to long for you, but your question required and deserved a well thought response. And I just could,nt mention 1 player. PS Thought of Mikel Artete, but to be honest sick of how he,s become Mr Arsenal like he never played for us. Just don't like it. Wheres your trophies them Mikey ? Forgive me my bitter blue, but he pisses me off.
  18. Thanks for the welcome off most of you, appreciate it. Want to say a few things. 1. I joined Toffee talk to read about, join in debates, and add my bit to all things Everton. 2.I appreciate my first post was poorly laid out and not spaced right, but im new to computers and didn't really know how to do it. But im learning as I go along. 3. Really shocked at the arguments and bickering. Will never get involved in that nonsense, what is the point ? 4. If anyone likes my posts and finds them interesting, fine thanks to all who commented. But if you don't like my posts, also fine, everyone entitled to their opinion, but just leave me out of the bullshit. 5. One thing I don't do is lie or make up yarns for the sake of it, people who know me trust me, Got a great bunch of friends, and looking forward to our annual lads Blackpool trip on Oct 4th, about 16 of us going. Point being I don't slag people off, always say things to peoples faces. So I,ll never criticise any one on Toffee talk. If I have a different opinion to a fellow members post, I wont resort to insults or point scoring. 6. Lastly and most importantly we are all fans of the best club on earth, we all love Everton football club and at the end of the day, isn't that all that matters ?.
  19. Yes Matt he is a Jack Russell, his name is titch and he,s 10 years old. As for the debate, I accept Baines is the more all round player but still think Pat the better defender, and best left back ive seen at everton.
  20. Thought some of you might like this one. about 20 years ago I worked for a firm making riding and safety helmets in Pontypool, gwent. one day an insurance rep called in the factory touting for business. I thought I know you from somewhere, and was chuffed when I realised who it was, had to be sure so I asked excuse me is your name brian harris ? yes it was our former classy player from the 60,s. had a great long chat to him about all things everton, his part and experience of the 1963 championship team and that incredible F.A cup final of 1966. he told me about his devastation on being burgled and having his medals stolen, and how after playing for both Cardiff and Newport county and how he fell on some hard times. At the time he was living in Chepstow. Obviously I was too young to have seen Brian play and to be honest didn't know that much about him. but I instantly recoqnised his face from old Everton photos, and his face was just the same .Grey hair the only difference. What a tonic on a normal old work day to meet an ex Everton star and perfect gent. He was so proud to have worn that royal blue shirt. a really memorable day for me. Is Brian still with us ? Could anyone tell me or is he sadly no longer with us and I have,nt heard ?
  21. Been a worried during the transfer window, always am, thought of losing Bainesy is a sickener, paying it doesn't happen. but it got my thinking who's the best left back we've ever had. I aint bringing ray Wilson into it because it was before my time.so is it Leighton Baines or Pat Van Den Hauwe ? Baines has a more all round game, with his superb crossing and free kicks, but my vote just about goes to pat. what a player's brilliant tackler, fast as a whippet and hard as nails. I really cant remember anyone really skinning him, or getting the better of him over 90 minutes. Had the pleasure of meeting him just after he signed from Birmingham, he was at Goodison for our next home game v Southampton. we were 2-0 up in 10 mins, but the match ended 2-2. I was there early and welcomed him to the club, wished him well and he was with his stunning first wife Susan. one of my favourite Everton players ever, and as older evertonians know, he was the original psycho, long before Stuart Pearce. so he gets my vote just ahead of Bainesy, but it would be interesting to know what fans who remember Pat will think.
  22. and I,d to add a bit more about the emotional side. This club is in my heart,im delighted when we win, gutted when we lose and furious when the lads don't do themselves justice like the wigan cup game.cos like a fool I allowed myself a dream really thought our name was on that cup. I get the same buzz around goodison now as I did at my first home game,a 1-1 end of season draw with Ipswich (1980 im think.but of course im getting on,my memory aint what it was.the lowest crowd ive been in at goodison was a 4-1 win over notts county when Adrian heath scored a hat trick and there was 14,ooo there. The 84 cup final will always be my special memory out of so many, because It was our breakthrough after all those years, and the shit I put up with off Liverpool fans.being there and seeing rats lift that f.a cup was incredible and I was just so dam proud. and those who remember it will never forget the pain of west ham in 1980,and the 1 Welshman I hate clive Thomas and what he cost us in 1977 against the enemy. and old Trafford fa cup quarter final 1983,when both our team and fans were magnificent, but lou macari haeded down to stapleton in injury time and we were robbed.to make it worse I was in the Stretford end with 3 jubilant united friends. well, think ive explained myself to you all,i don't intend to ever get into arguments and bickering on toffee talk. I just joined to read and share my love of the best club on the earth..im just very proud to be an evertonian. ps just noticed I spelt headed wrong earlier,..us old guys eh !
  23. well iam amazed that the im 49 but supported everton 39 years bit caused a bit of a stir, let me explain,i was 10 years old when I started to get into football big time.i wanted to follow a team different to everyone following bloody Liverpool ( even then I knew a bad lot when I saw them).and I don't like the colour red,so it was everton for me cos no one else I knew ( at the time) followed them. as you all know everton are addictive and a life long thing. also someone commented on my lack of paragraphs etc.well put it this way a computer buff I aint.must admit surprised to see fellow blues squabbling about it.that stuff belongs to fans of the other lot. anyway hope ive cleared things up a bit and my computer use gets better..cheers all...mike
