Someone on twitter has put the deal is off as Evertons interpreter misunderstood 30 mil for 3 mil. Loads have jumped on it and tweeted it all not realised we have a Spanish manager so wouldn't need one.

The lad who posted it is pissing himself laughing at all the itk dickheads who have fallen for it.

I see RM playing Barry - McCarthy - Barkley (AMC) and Cleverley from the left in the Ossie role, with Deulofeu in the other side.

Lots of free movement in the left side with Baines going forward and a more traditional right side wing with Coleman - Deulofeu.

Many experienced players have cost us and many other teams over the years the difference in most cases is he's still young and still learning

People would seriously turn their noses up at a very talented and potentially great player who is costing us peanuts in todays world when we lack massively in flair and creativity? Baffling

If he gets so good that Barca is willing to take him back he'd have propelled us to or around CL places single-handedly. If he's not close in quality to Messi, Neymar and Suarez Barca won't be interested. They'll just buy someone else.

Balague - A cheap fee 4 Deulofeu means a cheap re-buy option for FCB. But he's still miles away from being a FCB player. He needs work, consistency...

He's on his way down, has always been very fragile and, although powerful, he's far from clinical in front of goal.

If Lukaku leaves -which is a massive if, because I think RM will never sell below £40m- then I'd want to see young talent.

It's hard to find a young, promising striker...

4.3m for a very much unproven, yet potentially immense, youngster is too good to be true. I've ummed and aaahed about this since the initial whispers, having not bought into the hype because I don't think he did enough, and I've always said it comes down to the price. When I heard 8m I thought that was good, if this figure is accurate, I'll be beaming!

    Different positions, different valuations.

Also Lukaku had proven quite a lot before signing -West Brom, loan here-, Deulofeu so far has only failed consistently to deliver and lives up to his "potential". I don't really want to make another Lukaku thread, but other unproven strikers have been transferred for ridiculous amounts of money compared to their performances -Ideye Brown, Connor Wickman, Morata...-. A striker can be much more decisive and deadly than a winger, therefore a big valuation based on potential.

Also, as Matt says, not £28m.

Ironically it'll only be that price if he improves and wins things, which would mean he becomes value for money.

4.3m?! Our board may be shit at business deals but their transfer dealings are some times simply incredible!

If this is true, mind you....

From the article... Because if the past two seasons have proven anything, it is that Everton are a far better team when James McCarthy is playing.

It's plainly obvious for anyone who knows the game - he's a massive part of what's good about us. He's not going to win matches all by himself but he is vital to our success. See Carsley when we got 4th. See Makele and Matic in those Chelsea teams. See Gilberto Silva in that Arsenal team. None have been THE stand-out player but ask those who know and I'd image they'd speak highly of each.

In my opinion, McCarthy and Stones are our 2 most important players.

100% this, there isn't another young CB like him and he will only increase In value.

the scouts identify the targets, not Roberto. He will review for sure, and give his go ahead or not. Following that, a delegation will contact the players team (I concede, this can include the chairman occasionally, from what I've read), asking for permission to speak to the player. If yes, the players agent is contacted and negotiations begin, sometimes in parallel with the selling club over the transfer fee, usually after a transfer fee has been decided. The negotiating team at Everton will review their progress and update Roberto asking who they should prioritise. If all goes well, Roberto will sit with the player to see if his decision to sign him is the right one. Regarding contract length (new to the argument) of course he has a say. Transfers have been going on long before this waste-of-time position that is Sporting Director.
There was an article about how the whole scouting network worked at Everton under Moyes, it was fascinating.

We've been crying out for players who are a bit different and can create something themselves. We're linked with one and people turn their noses up at him :dont know: .

You can throw names out their like Yarmolenko and his Ukranian mate, but we're unlikely to be an attractive option for players who are the finished article (or close to). Deulofeu knows the club and if reports are correct he wants to play for us. He will frustrate (if he comes here), but he's so young that he's got plenty of time to grow and I'd love him to do that growing here, because if he fulfills his potential we've got a player on our hands that will blow those Ukranians out of the water.

Inconsistency is what you get with youngsters. But his flashes of brilliance are enough to show the lads got it.

We're not going to sign Yarmalenko, we won't even have a chance of that. He'll go where the money is and that isn't with us.

I've seen numbers that have ranged from 3-10 million, regardless of what number it is, you definitely bring him in for that fee.

I have no problem with moments of selfishness on the field, within reason. Selfishness implies confidence, and confidence is part of the toolkit of the brilliant. I'm all for signing Deulofeu and think he could help ignite the team, especially in the big games.

Young talented with fairly huge potential knows the club and in todays world would be relatively cheap or we could spunk a fairly large sum on an unknown quantity

Get the lad playing regular football and to adjust his work ethic and attitude slightly and you've got a potential world beater it's not that people think he did fantastically when here it's what they know he could become

Depending on cost and wages I'd much rather him to Evans. He would be worth signing to a decent contract in case stones leaves in a year or so as well. I like this move.
