  1. ive said it many times, it's how you stop us and it's not hard to do. Can't believe you're criticizing Stones either, thought he looked very comfortable and was always offering an outlet. When he went off, we completely abandoned the right flank, mostly because McGeady kept falling over himself.

Stones is an awful RB going forward. We've been lucky to have an exceptional RB who can defend and go forward just as well, it's part of the modern game. An old School RB would at least get the crosses in. It's just doesn't exist from Stones. I watched him get into a good position time and time again

Stones gets into a crossing position and passes it backwards without fail.. So frustrating!

  2. who other than the shite? we won the game, stop spreading your doom and gloom and be a real fan and be happy we won.

Spurs at home did exactly the same

I'm a real fan mate. I was at the game like always, where you?

It's not spreading doom and gloom it's highlighting where we are weak. Nothing wrong with that.

  4. Great result from an otherwise awful display.

Bailed out by the quality of Mirallas.

Villa pressed us high up the pitch in the first 45 the same as Liverpool did on Tuesday and it worked again. There has to be a plan B.

Another mention on how limited John Stones at right back is. We played much better when he went off and funnily enough McCarthy slotted in there.

It's the constant passing backwards from the lad. He won't even throw a cross in no edge going forward! The weak link! He should not be played there again, he's awful there. I'd rather have Hibbert... Really!!!

  5. ...and a few bad touches can blind people, regardless of the many, many positives.

Rooney had 17 goals in 77 games at Everton, his first 2 full seasons in the first team (granted, he was a couple years younger). Lukaku has 26 in 58 and thats in 1.5 seasons. Yet hes worth less than half of the price you wouldve put on Rooney? :dont know:

End of the day, its each to their own, I just think people are being far too harsh on the guy...

You can't even compare Lukaku to Rooney. Rooney was and still is twice the footballer Lukaku will ever be. Without his goals what does Lukaku offer? He's not "technically" good.like Rooney. He has an eye for goal and that's about it.

He's worth £20m because he's a big name in Europe and has massive potential. Right now I'd say he's worth £12m - £15m face value.

  6. My point doesn't have anything to do with the timing of the coin throwing.

What I am saying is that the conduct of the players doesn't help eradicate things like this. I seriously doubt if John Flanagan went over to take a corner he would be pelted

    Spot on mate.

  7. This loan thing doesn't sit well with me. We've seen players go out the door for a lot of money. We've spent a bit but not all. It seems as though money is being held for a special purpose.

I hope that special purpose is not Lukaku. He's been ok. Some really good performances. But the majority sub standard. For the money being touted £20m+ I think we'd be stupid to throw it all that way.

Loaning players as a majority of transfer business does not seem a good idea for the long haul. Martinez talks about having a strong core of players plus loanees. The majority of loanees will most likely return at the end of each season. We have a couple that's fine but loaning 4-5 players a season isn't a great idea for me.

We need to sign our own players. Don't forget loans cost money. They aren't free favours.

  8. Matt - not writing Stones off he's a good player but last night proved he is not the sort of Right back we need as cover. The team plays with attacking full backs and without Coleman or someone a like we are hindered. I thought he got into attacking positions well but was fruitless there once he received the ball. Couldn't get a cross in or beat his man. He's a centre back and was a major contributor to the second goal.

  9. I think all the money is being saved for Lukaku in the summer. But now, if this injury is a long term one ( which it very well could be). We need to sign a top end striker with it. There is no use relying on traore who has had a fair share of injurys himself and Naismith. It needs sorting and although Jelavic wasn't doing much I think his sale could come back to haunt us.

  10. This is not a knee jerk but an assessment on tonight's performance.

I don't think that performance has done him any favours in terms of a starting place for the World Cup. Everyone has bad days at the office but I'm sorry that was shambolic.

I'm all for Jagielka he is a great player, but he needs pace around him. Without the pace he looks like a headless chicken. I mean the fourth goal, come on that was a primary school boy error. It's just not good enough from a captain and full international.

Tonight is not the first time I've seen Jags tore a new one at Anfield either.

I'm not sure what everyone else thinks but we can't play that back four again. It was so vulnerable it was awful to watch.
