Where do we go from here? The best teams only make 1-2 changes to their starting XI. I'd like to see us do the same assuming you don't consider signing Zouma and AGomes as new signings, who I'd like to see sign permanently. For me we should be focusing on RB and ST this summer. Completely disagree with you on that last part. The manager has to be enforcing his system at all times and choose the best players available to implement that system. None of this wishy washy shit where we change our overall shape/style based on the opponent. Nuances sure home/away, top 6/not but the system needs to remain the same. That's the mentality all of the top 6 clubs have.

Every year the FA cup loss stings more than any other. Even before the season starts we’ve no shot at winning the league, the league cup is dumb and I’ve come to expect bad results in the derbies. Our season rests on the FA Cup. Our season is once again over early and it fucking stings like hell.

Not sussed at all by the lack of signings. Was hoping, however, that there would be more sales. Take advantage of desperate teams. Bolasie would be a great start but Schneiderlin and Browning should be sold. Can we not convert the loans to permanent deals for Sandro, Pennington, Mirallas, Martina and Tarashaj at least? Williams and Garbutt are free agents in the summer.

We often ridicule players who want to leave, it's only fair to say kudos to Yannick for wanting to fight for his place here. His mindset shows alot about his character, frankly that's something some our current first XI could learn from.

Southampton 2 - 3 Everton Richarlison

Same XI as Bournemouth. Too often guilty of hyperbole and this is impossible to prove but I really feel this game can define our season - or at least January and February. Win at Southampton and the sustained momentum carries over to Millwall which carries over to the now manager-less Huddersfield. Then you're in or close to 7th with Wolves, Watford and an FA 5th round tie before Man City visits. We could be rolling. I always come back to this - it's the hope that kills you...

Mostly repeating what’s been said... hope we can look back on this game as a turning point. We very very rarely win these types of games but it’s so encouraging when we do. The grit, heart and team camaraderie made this my favorite game. So encourages by Lookman being influential for 90 mins. It’s the first time he’s been able to do that. Needs to start until further notice. Richarlison is not a striker. DCL is the answer for this season at least. Give him the remaining games and see if you need to buy a new striker in the summer. Tremendous team defense today. Keane is incredible as long as you don’t pass him the ball. So dominant in the air. Digne is just pure class. Zouma’s celebration leaves me wondering if he’ll want to stay long term. Lastly, I’ll disagree with others in that I don’t think it was that bad of a performance from the ref. Not good sure but far from some of the Moss/Mason games. I hate those two. The card disparity was deserved. The only thing I was discouraged by today was our childish behavior towards the ref. Schoolboy immaturity.
