Some good points here, but it don't quite get the Kone bit. To me he is the perfect bit part Striker. Even if we add another striker with more quality I would keep him as he can do a job when required but I can't see him rocking the boat over lack if game time like Eto did. The worst part of this season has been the lack of chances the younger players ( Garbutt, Browning and Galloway ) have been able to get because of how poor the "first" team has been.

I think the 3 in the midfield did what it was intended to do, Arsenal really didn't threaten to much until their opening goal which was a set piece - if we could defend set pieces and had Rom gone round Ospinna and scored it could have been the perfect away day. Didn't happen obviously. In saying that, against stoke I'm praying for 1 sitting, fullbacks getting forward with pace on both wings or even 2 up top.

It all depends on how we are approaching the game, if we are looking to go toe for toe in a quick attracting game then it has to be a midfield of McCarthy Gibbo Besic Let Gibbo sit back and play the ball whilst the other two cause havoc through the midfield, Barry will be a passenger in an end to end game. If we're looking to dictate the tempo and control then Barry plays over Besic. IMO atleast

Gibbo, love him on the ball always has his head up. The whole back four played well I think and Rom looked a handful too!

Okay this is my third everton game, first two being west brom and then Leicester, I swear if I leave Goodison dissapointed ( as in us losing the leg ) in going to neck myself. On another note, public transport in this country is disgustingly exspensive!!

Exactly what I was thinking off him. He has it in his locker. Once he finds consistency and understands his game, then maybe he will deliver that on a once every 3 games basis.

Mate I agree, he has held it up and created chances. I wouldn't say we have played the ball to him any different, he has just been on his game tonight and this is how we can play with a striker who can hold the ball and distribute.

Okay for the record, Rom has deserved the slack he has coped, Haf has simply stated what has been in front of our eyes, which is that Roms hold up play has been average at best all season, no one can deny that. I didn't agree with the sell him pleas because I think he can develop with age. Tonight's proved the player he can be, which is an incredible player. We need him to be Consistant. Taking the piss out of Haf isn't fair because he is finally playing to his level.

Haven't seen us play this well for a long long time. Fluent attack. Shame about the one conceded but we got done on the counter. Rom has been immense, every bit the player we know he can be.

The only other option I can see would have been grabs in for either Naisy/Ross and push Oviedo up, I can understand him going with this team with it being the first game away.. Still a strong strong side, should get the draw atleast

Haf you're being far to critical of a young man here. where was deigo costa at his age. struggling to make it into Athletico Madrid. Rom will have 20 goals come end of season. Vault me if you wish

I know it wont happen, but I would love to see Gibson get a run before Barry. Annoyed that Barry will walk straight into this game because of his suspension, however I would rather see Gibson get games and hopefully get fit before Barry plays.
