    Where did you get the idea AMC is Barkley's best position? Frankly he has been quite poor in that position and doesn't seem to have the qualities either. His best position is playing deeper in the midfield where he can make runs with the ball.

    25 million euros as well. Even a swap deal with Mirallas would mean paying extra on top of that and we'd just be replacing him.

    If his last name was Smith people would call him shite and a donkey. Not exactly profilic even in a much weaker Portuguese league. 38 goals in 142 league matches. All competitions considered just over one goal in every four matches. But as always, I reserve my judgement since I haven't seen him play.

    Both Arteta and Pienaar were journeymen when Moyes bought them. Arteta had failed to make it at Barca, so went to Scotland for two years. From there back to Spain to Sevilla where he didn't exactly shine before Moyes bought him. Pienaar played well at Ajax but never settled at Dortmund. Pienaar was actually the same age when he joined on loan as Cleverley is now.

    You can make a pre-contract six months before your current deal runs out. And Milner has just signed on a free to RS so I'd say it is possible. Unless they have their own rules.

    Of course he can sign a contract (he could have done it January), it just won't start until July. There have already been other deals.

    On the other hand he only scored five times in 12/13 and ten times in 11/12 in Ligue 2. And he's 27, so the question is did he take a massive leap in ability or did he just have a season where everything went his way?

    Problem was, he had all the abilities but he usually wasn't arsed. And then he could do something really stupid that cost the team the points. His scoring record during his first stint was decent, but not that remarkable (107 games/42 goals). Second stint was quite bad (123/25), but of course he had plenty of issues.

    Dunc is held in such high esteem precisely because we were so shite at the time. I hope we have moved on.

    This. There are tough players, but Shawcross is dirty. I'd leave that type to the neighbours, they are known for dirty f***ers, not us.
