  1. I think we can put a good IX out there (not great, good). But man we sure don't have depth. Like you said, we put half our starting team on the pitch and draw 0-0 to a 4th string of a weak team to start with. It really seems we have regressed as a unit in the two and a half years since the 2014 WC
  2. That was my first thought Matt, but I wasn't going to take that shot across the pond!
  3. No, that is a fair point. Honestly most of the things we protest or cheer probably don't affect us directly - indirectly maybe - but it's what we think is right/fair as best we understand them. When things do directly affect us personally, that's when opinions can change really quickly. I didn't support gay marriage really, but that wasn't a huge thing to me, certainly not a make or break position on who I'd vote for. Until my social circle expanded a bit more and I got to be good friends with a couple guys that had been together for over 20 years, but couldn't be added to health policy, death policy benefit from job, retirement etc...it become personal, or at least close to home, and it caused me to flip my opinion and become strongly pro gay marriage. So no sir, I didn't take that personal at all, it's a valid observation. My place in society is nothing of note. Middle class, I work, wife works, worked my way thru college, and struggling to afford my oldest daughters first year in college. Drink beer on the weekend and watch football and futbol, depending on season and time of day!
  4. And for the record the stuff on existing green cards, dual citizens, people from these counties who had US ties, those who were in flight etc...that was mess, hurried and sloppy. The groups that have filed suits to correct and address this stuff are the correcting the obvious flaws in the EO , I support.
  5. Missed the Serbia match - which was probably a good thing. Will be interested to see how some of the new pcs fit in this Friday against Jamaica. I'd honestly like to see us use 2 strikers 4-4-2 diamond, 4-3-1-2 whatever. I don't think we have enough quality or the right type of striker to play as the lone, as much as like Jozy. Pair Woods with someone, our attack is so inconsistent...
  6. Moyes can point out that Kone wasn't one of HIS Everton players, so it doesn't count! There were certainly some flashes when we played with 2 strikers that he and Rom worked well together - just not enough of them.
  7. I honestly do not have a problem with the orders he has signed. This is what he campaigned on, and should have been expected. Withdrawal from PTT, border security, temporary halt of immigration from unstable states that are breeding grounds for radicals who are hostile to the US etc...Anyone who is really shocked wasn't listening to him. That being said as Mark and Tonka pointed out he is reaching the limit of those. If he keeps scribbling out EO's, he is going to run into a hell of a firestorm, internally and externally. I did vote for Trump. I do care about immigration, national security and the US economy, so he was a much better candidate for me than Hillary. However, I wasn't at rallies, wearing hats and covering my yard in signs. He is far from perfect, and his does make me nervous from the fact his is not a politician - which was a large part of his appeal too. But it's a 2 edged sword, because he doesn't act or react like a politician, which is predictable and measured. However, that doesn't mean i like or will like everything he does. He's a bit more bombastic and narcissistic than I'd prefer, but we will just have to see how it plays out and hope I'll say this tho, if the left and the media continue to flip out with over the top doom and gloom every time her farts, it's counter productive. Trust me, there are huge percentage of Trump voters that are pretty moderate/moderate-right - myself included. But it's going to be very hard to actually listen to opposition if it's consistently over the top and exaggerated, rooted in the fact they just don't like Trump or anything he does. The real logic and valid points get lost in the noise. Those on the right that flipped their shit every time Obama did something were no better. Fact was they just didn't him, and at some point I didn't care to hear anything they had to say either because it was predictable. Don't misunderstand this as directed at anyone on this board or your point of view, I'm speaking in generalities.
  8. It seems to me that he is just isn't mentally strong or mature. When it was tough sledding, and his form dropped that's when he seemed to be theatrical, dive, and have a fit at the ref when he lost the ball - not getting back up and into play, and his game would just spiral downward. However, when he was on his game he was a terror on the wing and a joy to watch. One of the very early games he and Bolasie we whipping dangerous crosses in left and right and I was pretty excited about what we had going forward. But when Gerri got in a rut he couldn't seem to get himself out of it. That being said he is one of my favs, I'd love to see his consistency improve on loan and have him back at Goodison. But as Mark said above, it seem Koeman prefers a wingback giving width and defense, or traditional midfielders versus and out and out winger. Given the recent run in the 3-4-3/5-2-3/5-3-2/5-2-1-2 or whatever the hell it really is, it's hard to complain.
  9. Just watched Wolverhampton finish it out. That's > politics!
  10. I don't disagree with that at all. Stopping the immigration so it can be managed is more of a security issue - but I has no effect on stemming the flow. That's a much larger problem that all of the West is trying to figure out. The simple answer is "make it so they don't want to leave their home" but with the chaos and state of those countries right now, we are talking a long process for sure
  11. Tempest in a teapot. The only deportations will be the illegals who are in jail/prison for committing additional crimes. Not speeding, parking tickets...but crimes. By the way, that's an existing law. Some one comes into the country illegally, commits a crime say rape, murder, breaking and entering, we are going to put them in prison for 5 years, 10 years, life...pay for their medical care, feed them house them...when they aren't even a citizen and shouldn't be here? Fuck that, send them home. Dropping the racism card is a straw man, and is crap. All the screaming hysterics marching and protests about this racism is manufactured. There aren't in mass deportations aren't coming, there won't be Mexican restaurants closing left and right. But no one is going to march in protest of the reality, but by drop the racism card and Nazi references and the sheep will follow. If the policy was really to start loading up ships and planes and kicking everyone out, yeah I'd have a real problem with that too. But that's not what's happening, hasn't been proposed, and no order has been signed to do such. I do have some concerns and worries about Trump and how he is going to do things. But this I have no problem with. Nor do I have problem with made up stuff contributed to him. If people want to march because they hate Trump, nothing wrong with that. But at least be honest. Remember when Obama gave free cell phones and service to blacks on welfare? Remember how upset people were about that? Yeah that didn't happen either, but people who hated Obama were just looking for a reason to bitch, even if they had distort the truth to whip the sycophants up into a lather.
  12. He is like a full speed unguided missle. If Koeman can get him guided a bit, I think he has a lot of upside. He is one of my favorites, I'd love to see him kick on, hopefully for us.
  13. Yeah they just put like 2 screws on top and bottom till it grafts itself to the bone - the screws still show up on X-Ray lol. I was a high school jock, 4-5 years from being "fit", but I was back playing in basketball leagues less than a year later. Had it done in '93 and really haven't had an issues. Have some arthritis, but that's due to having torn cartilage removed in each knee in high school, then again in my late 30's, not directly from the ACL replacement. I just have to limit myself. Play golf, but don't walk the course, don't play in the field, limit myself to playing 'keeper and don't ref more than 2 matches on a given day - follow with ice, aspirin and a few adult beverages Still pretty freaking amazing that it "works" 25+ years later.
  14. WIth ACL itself not so much. I had a complete tear - as in it no longer connected. There is really only 2 methods to repair a torn ligament, both require it to be replaced, it won't "heal". You can cut a new one from the patella tendon (what I had), then attach it and rehab, or one can be taken from a cadaver (as some friends have had), attached and rehab. It's typically 6-9 months for the graft to take and to strengthen the muscles and joint itself, but it's pretty much the same rehab schedule. I mean if there are 2-4 ligaments torn, or other damage to parts, yeah that's a different kettle of fish, but basic ACL reconstruction has become pretty commonplace and routine. -ps, I'm not in the medical field, but I have had 5 knee operations!
  15. And politics makes us assholes. In our personal lives, we try to find common interests. This board is an example. We have a common denominator - EFC - and then we find other stuff that interests us or to discuss. Same way with friends, co-workers, stranger at the airport, at a pub or such. Yeah, we know we are different, but we seek to find other things in common with people because it makes life more tolerable and enjoyable. Think how many things you and best friend really don't agree on - but you're friends in spite of that, because of the things you DO have in common. But when it comes to politics, more and more, we seek to find the things we disagree about, and then with a broad brush paint those people's ideas and opinions on everything else as "unworthy". That's so back-asswards, from day to day life.
  16. (War and Peace incoming) 1. I disagree the HRC's platform/promises were the exact same as Ronald Regan's. Besides some common sense points they may have shared, their driving ideology and method of getting there are polar opposites IMO. That being said, I'm open to being enlightened on that if I'm misinformed - seriously. 2. I did not say democrats were in and of themselves far left. I said the on the national level, the dems go left, the gop go right. It's a relative term - but they go to opposite sides and work against each other on their behalf, instead of together. The left thinks the GOP has gone way right, the right thinks the dems have gone way left. The truth is somewhere in between, but the distance between the parties, nationally, remains about the same to me. 3. You can't say the tea party/religious right hi-jacked the party with out a point of reference. From when - the GOP of the 70's? 90's? Did they "pull" the GOP back to it's roots, or did they "push" it away from it's roots? It depends on your perspective - and I honestly can't tell you which is correct. I will concede that the religious right has a tremendous voice within the GOP, and has for the last 30-40 years, for better and worse. I'd generally agree with you about BHO being moderate, and maybe in the other party at a different time. Ditto for Trump, he's a lot more Bill Clinton than Bush philosophically. Obama further left than Bill Clinton, Reagan more right than Bush Sr etc but all basically "moderate".Those on the far left or right don't survive their party primaries because they can't get the nomination without working the factions in their own party. And they have to work with an opposition party to some degree, once they are elected. Look no further than Sanders. He was the furthest from center (not saying that as a positive or negative) that almost won his party's nomination in...a long time. And it appears his own party machine may have undermined his chances. Trump had the same problems - he is pro gay marriage/rights and wants to build infrastructure of the inner cities, which upset a lot of the Good Ole Boy wing - because that's dem territory. He did NOT have the support of the RNC until it became obvious that the base was overwhelmingly rejecting the RNC's preferences. The RNC is still pissed.
  17. Question - Can we not send Bolasie (and Browning) to the same surgeon or physio we sent Besic to??? I mean Mo torn an ACL, and looks to be back to fitness in 6 months (I believe 6-9 months is typical). Bolasie (and Browning) are looking at in excess of a year for same injury! It would sure be nice to have him working back to match fitness this summer.
  18. Here is what I don't understand. Why is it when the democrats have the votes to pass legislation without republican support, it's because they have a mandate and the republicans are being childish by trying to block legislation. But when then republicans have the votes to do the same, it's draconian and the democrates trying to block the legistaltion is patriotic and a moral high ground? It's either both or neither, but it can't be both. Here is the biggest issue (to me), our congress doesn't govern moderately. With few exceptions, the democrats in congress vote and support issues too far left of center. And the republicans in congress vote and support issues too far right of center. And most of those in the senate likely won their elections by 20%, the house by 35% - and that is number is falsely inflated because many incumbents run unopposed or basically unopposed. When there is an open seat for whatever reason, they tend to be much closer. My point is when they get to DC, they tend to go way left or way right. That's ignoring 30-40% of their constituents off the bat. And the 51-70% majority that did vote them in, probably are not all far left or right ideologues. They end up representing the wishes of the national party, vs the majority of their constituents the were elected to speak for. That's not a good scenario. Most Americans are generally moderate in their day to day lives, in my opinion. Lean left on some issues, right on others. But when it gets to the national level it becomes a black and white hypocritical clusterfuck with little tolerance. Due in no small part because it's profitable for organizations to create divisions for their own self-interest at the expense of the publics. And that's bullshit.
  19. I'm pretty convinced that he is really just a centerback wearing Hamburger Helper mitts. He's not a keeper. "But he is good with his feet" hahaha
  20. That was very cool to see - and watching Lookman latch on to Rom after the goal and the 2 of them talking.
  21. Doesn't get much better than that! No one had a poor performance. And I think Clattenberg had a very good game - not just the lack of PK early, but kept game under control. interacting well with players after calls and let the match flow. And flow it did...
  22. Absolutely - it appears they like each other and like playing together, that bodes well.
