  1. Its a bit like a boxer, they train with an intensity and then closer to the fight they train light in order to be fresh. In the fight they are then prepared for the later rounds. I'm not sure as to whether our ability to be better at the latter part of the season wasn't down to less games versus other teams around us.
  2. Not sure did the stroing finish mean the players needed extra rest? but I do think that Moyes boot camp methods hit us hard with early injuries and as I say players looking laboured.
  3. I think a few players have been a little way off fitness pre season. Lets see how they do.
  4. "When you have players coming back from the World Cup you have to decide if you want the players straight away or do you give them a bit of time to refresh and be ready to play for 10 months?” said Martinez. “It will only be Kevin Mirallas and Rom who might not start the season. For Romelu, it will depend on how he adapts to work from now until August 16. “There is a degree of risk if you put them into a situation so early. They’ve been training really well and are accumulating a lot of work. “Playing in a game would have stopped them being able to get in a lot of that extra work and we didn’t want to do that. “They’re not going to be a part [of the team] but they will get three sessions in while we’re out here. “That will accelerate the process of them being ready as quickly as possible.” I think it is how Martinez wants to prepare them. Don't get me wrong I want them playing but I want them right. The Moyes era of seeing overtrained, leggy players in August has taught me that.
  5. Naismiths goals per game time ratio last season was better than Roms. Not saying he's a better goals scorer but the lad can finish, I'm quite encouraged by the emergence of Long also, no doubt he will get some time when we are comfortable.
  6. I think his previous goal scoring credentials were ok to be honest. Barring his troubled stint at Sevilla he has averaged a decent return. Personally I think he will offer a lot. A good work rate and excellent hold up play.
  7. Martinez has his own views around detraining. Between 2 and 4 weeks off means that the body declines in fitness and muscle but it also allows the body to bounce back stronger than it was before the break. Its important that they retrain before playing. 10 months of a long season ahead, its important that they are 100% right.
  8. I think he's quickly become the victim of some pretty over the top criticism, it all started with his transfer - £6m for a 29 year old when many wanted us to be a little more "spectacular". From the off I think a couple of missed chances affected him, but I see a decent hard working player there.
  9. Its a "blank" from me, I think past the age of 18 it starts looking a bit childish unless for example there was deeper meaning - i.e having Foe on the back of a Man City shirt. But... each to their own, if Lukaku goes and gets us 40 prem goals next season I will go and buy all 3 shirts with his name on them.
  10. He is the back up striker along with Naismith. I'm fully confident that he will change some opinions on here just like Naismith did.
  11. He's a bit like Bellamy with regards his attitude, but get him onside and you have a quality player. There is a risk with him though - he has a very quick temper.
  12. He looks a player that could be a £20m plus asset. I'm pleased with what I've seen.
  13. I'd never heard of christiano ronaldo till United signed him. Young talents with potential is where we need to be focused.
  14. Me too, I think the lad has class though. Tremendous record in majors without winning. Put money on him as an e/w, won't go far wrong.
  15. I've got money on Fowler, credit to the game is that lad.
  16. Never knew that. Quite ironic. Suppose he was like the US marine dad in American beauty.
  17. A horrible situation all round. Hope they get all support they need.
  18. I like the look of the lad. Spikey with real mobility and bite. Potential legend in the making.
  19. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/real-life-stories/frank-maloney-sex-change-telling-4030932 Wow. What a tough life he has lived with that. Top marks for bravery. Sad story.
  20. I like westy, he doesn't walk round like he's owed a major. Monty just bottled it. Westwood can at least argue he's played more in the tiger era too. Btw got my first eagle the other day, par 4 320 yards drove the green 7 foot past pin, holed the putt.
  21. Talented is an understatement, has real ability but also a questionable attitude. For anything under £3m says bargain. Martinez just needs to man manage the lad.
  22. In all seriousness people were saying sign lukaku as an investment, the same can be said for Richards. If he gets fit he's England's right back for me. A player touted in the£15m plus market a few years back.
  23. Correct. Bookies trying to entice people into betting on players who are under contract, do they refund if the player remains at current club? I doubt it. For me it's a very much controversial market that allows ITK to make a small fortune from insider betting. I.e agents.
  24. I agree but we need cover at right back and an another option at centre half is always good. Potentially enormous amount of games and a big squad is needed. Would Richards be a free?
