  1. On review, Drenthe got the ball for his first yellow, he back heels it like but still gets the ball. Harsh.

Although it wasn't a foul so ref got that wrong, the yellow itself seemed to be for a few niggles and the reaction to the fk being given. The second yellow was just plain silly on Drenthe's behalf, we looked like we could snatch it at that point with Drenthe and Coleman running at them.

  2. Felli as usual played well vs them. Royston would have had it but his 'divaness' got him sent off - give the ref an excuse and he will vs Chelsea! Rodwell was very good once again and Coleman looked lively up to us going down to 10. Very disappointed with how scared we were at 10 v 10 the game was there to be won but we seemed to want pens.

  3. I think it's more to do with Barkley being 17 and naturally playing centre mid where we have numerous options and Moyes protecting him. No conspiracies just easing young talent into the first team - Barkley will make 20 appearances throughout the season, a long, hard season. It's up to Moyes as his manager and us as fans to give him the time he needs to fully develop.

  4. Then I remembered I fucking love Goodison Park at night and we're going to spank the Chelsea rent boys and I'll spill my coke in a plastic cup all over myself in celebration!

    Can't fooking wait!!!

    Favourite night game?

Chelsea 2-1 (Saha 2 and missed pen)

    Fiorentina 2-0 (lost on pens)

    The Shite 1-0 (Gosling)

The Shite 2-0 (Royles first game and my first derby!)

    Man.Utd 1-0 (Big Dunc)

    I must have missed loads!!!

  5. Well we better watch out for us buying another keeper then, seeing as we are obsessed with bringing keepers to the club.

Maybe we can bring Ruddy back, now that he gets rave reports playing for Norwich.

I hope we have a buy back or sell-on or performance related bonus with him - I've been impressed... that's what happens when you're given a chance! (although I'm happy we've stuck with Howard as they're aren't many better).

  6. About SkyBlue: I dont think he understands the Everton mentalitity that is why he might come off a little mean.

Exactly (1st bit) - he doesn't come across mean he's just in a totally different place to us right now yet he appears in pretty much every topic writing an essay in each when a sentence would suffice and every time managing to give the topic a Citeh comparisson or twist! - I sensed this from day one and I think others did but didn't voice it like myself - I don't see it as a coincidence as some of the better posters (in my opinion) - you may call them old guard - they haven't quoted and encouraged his posting. I like them have chose to ignore him - I like some other opinions on here - redside/ xavier are great posters, but they do it in style where they're not in your face and not posting in every fooking topic.

If skyblue stays I will continue to skip past his posts (as I don't want to read about Citeh on an EFC forum) but if he's gone then I look foward to talking toffee again.

...and Avin... I agree with a lot of what you've said in this thread - just back from a few days away so only scanned but sometimes you get some unfair critism (often from myself) but I hear what you're saying in this thread!

  7. We usually win up here and they usually win down there, but we broke the mould a couple of years ago with as you said a 2-0 win down there, I think Osman scored the goals.

Correct - last day of season a couple of yrs back, we needed it too as Villa would have overtaken us but they still sent the barcodes down that day. I remember feeling gutted I had to support Villa pre-match but wanted newcastle down so a good day all round!

  8. Coleman has only ever played as a winger for us really, he had a bad game yesterday so he's not a winger now but he had a stormer vs them last season and he was a winger then! I'd like to see him at rb but he's doing a decent job all the same. Osman has played the majority of his career out wide for us, he's better in the middle but he's got more than enough experience out wide. As for Saha, when fit he is still our best striker, Velios is an emerging talent which will take time - he'll be given his chance but away to Chelsea it's a no brainer. All players seem in strong positions to me - I bet united fans weren't moaning about jones in cm and smalling rb - some players are versatile.

  9. seriously? does that account for the fact he constantly plays people out of postion though? we can all moan at Kenwright and the board for the lack of investment, but blue Bill does NOT pick the team, thats down to Moyes

Everybody played in position yesterday - we lack options as we are skint. Yes he has played players out of position e.g. heitinga, cahill, fellaini, hibbert but I'm sure if he had true quality options then they would play. It all comes back to no investment in the playing staff means we don't have the quality cover and more importantly the quality on the pitch. Not moaning at Kenwright, just stating facts.

  10. I'm sure if I was to dig through the archives I could find a 'Brazil formation' post by me maybe 3 or 4 seasons ago!!! Got deja vu half way through posting the previous!

    I'm officially a broken record...

    I want the brazil system... back 4 - 2 holders - 3 roamers supporting 1 main striker...

    ..........Howard............

    Nev...Jags...Distin...Baines

    .....Rodders...Felli........

    Arteta.....Cahill.....Pienaar

    ..........Beckford...........

I would actually say beckford/vic would be the best in this role, Yak/Saha don't work hard enough as lone strikers - no coincidence beckford had 5 clear chances yesterday (wish yak or saha had them though!!!). Arteta isn't working in the middle for whatever reason - I'd like him and pienaar to roam with the confidence that rodders/felli will be keeping it solid!

    I would like to see...

    .............Howard.................

    Coleman....Jags...Heitinga....Baines

    ........Fellaini...Rodwell..........

    ....Arteta.....Cahill....Pienaar....

    ...............Saha.................

This is Brazil's system - Coleman and Baines would provide the most width - Arteta/Cahill/Pienaar would inter-change.

    Felli/Rodders - 1 breaks - 1 sits.

...and I'm sure there are earlier versions of this!!!

  11. I hear what you're saying and it would seem a good idea in theory but we need to be trying stuff like this pre-season.

I personally would like to see Coleman as a right-back - I believe this would help us play further up the pitch with him and Baines pushing on down either flank.

    Something like this...

    .................Howard....................

    Coleman...Jags...Distin...Baines

    ................Felli...Rodwell...........

    ...Drenthe....Cahill....Osman....

    .....................Saha..................

It's how Brazil set-up in recent years with Carlos/Cafu at LB/RB with the 2 'sitters' in CM allowing the full-backs to bomb on. We are not Brazil but this formation would enable us to put round pegs in round holes. Drenthe/Osman/Cahill would (should) rotate and drift and we have Bily, Barkley, Gueye who could fill these positions too, to change it a little.
