  1. Classic example of using real life experience to understand how the lad probably felt? And the potential consequences?

Don't dismiss a valid post, which is a considered point of view if you have nothing better to offer than "classic".

Some feel moyes was right, I think it was a decision made at the wrong time.

    Classic?

You're comparing a kick about in the park to the Premier League!

  2. I think your comment as being one of the biggest over the top statements is one of the biggest over the top statements.

I've played under a manager who did something similar to a lad after a hand ball in the box and he was distraught. This was amateur football and his confidence was shot for a good while. Didnt want the ball, nothing.

He could and should have given him an extra 20 mins, his sheherds crook was that of a manager who could see the team was on the ropes and doing it at the time made Barkley look like he was the reason. Do well to recover? Yes he will. Moyes timing of the substitution stuck out like a bull dogs plums.

  3.

You seem to be missing the point that if we play like that throughout the course of the season then we would most likely be in the relegation zone, if not bottom. QPR who were shite, won fairly confortably and Blackburn who were equally as poor at times should have won 3-4 nil. If you happy with that then fine, but I sure as fuck am not.

Im not saying for one minute I want us to dominate games, play perfect football and win 5 nil, I just want to see all the players & manager show us that they actually want to play for Everton and not like they have there head up their arses. There was nothing in that game that we could build on, not even a glimmer of hope as far as Im concerned.

I didnt necessarily mean Moyes should get the sack, but if we play like that week in week out then he should and lets face it, its been like this for the most part of 2 years. He seems to start putting something together, then reverts straight back to type after that. Both this game and the QPR game show that he doesnt seem to have a clue, yet strangely the Sheffield game gave me some hope. I have no problem with people making mistakes but he makes the same ones time and time and time again. For me that isn't good enough and while I would love him to turn it around and prove me wrong, I simply dont see it. Maybe a game here and there, but he will change it and we will be right back to square one.

Just for the record, we were crap last year against Blackburn with the same problems being evident. We didnt deserve anything from that game, and we didnt deserve anything from this.

I would also look to get rid of Jags on current form, for good money. He did do some decent stuff in that game but he is fucked up in every game and in our current situation somewhere around £15mil would be a cracking price.

We won't play like that week in week out though and we will be towards the top of the league over the course of the season. Unfortunately due to financial constraints that will be seen as a good season.

I don't see much of what Moyes could have done differently re. line-up yesterday...

Should Hibbert have started? I think so.

Should Heitinga stayed CB? I think so but who would have replaced Rodwell in the middle? Cahill needed dropping according to some.

Should we have played 2 up top? Well we should have vs QPR no doubt but Moyes obviously doesn't see Beckford and Anichebe as a combination that is good enough for the Premier League.

Bringing on Cahill at that time was a good substitution - we needed more leadership on the pitch.

People on here are taking out our shit financial state and complete lack of transfer activity on what's going on, on the pitch. Yes we were very poor, but to say it's the worst performance ever is a huge over statement based on a shit summer. Re. QPR any other day we'd have beaten them or at least saved a point - what if Baines had hit that FK 1 inch lower? - different story.

The facts are we have 3 points from 2 games - I would have expected at least 4 from those fixtures but it could be a lot worse.

We played okay against QPR without any finish/ wasted opportunities, we looked lively vs Sheff.Utd, controlled the game and progressed in the cup, we got a lucky 3 points away to Blackburn and played poor - end of the fucking world!!!

A lot of people on here are letting their disappointment of our shocking summer blow yesterdays performance out of proportion - everyone needs to chill the fuck out and get behind the boys. If we can't do anything before Wednesday then let's support who we've got!

Yes I get your point - I just think it's a knee-jerk blown out of proportion point clouded by other activities going on off the pitch.

  4. Having watched the highlights on football first I must say I've seen us play a lot worse. We were poor but we managed to nick 3 points. A lot of the lads looked nervous and 2 of our 'big' players in felli and arteta clearly aren't fully fit. I'm glad for this international break - it'll give key players time and let all involved focus on the next game.

All in all - poor performance, excellent result.

  5. For me the most important player since rooney. Was worried when moyes highlighted he made mistakes last week. For me it wasn't the fact he was subbed, it was the timing and the clear lack of arm around his shoulder. His substitution highlighted his error for me and was poor management. Another 15 mins would have been ok.

The lad will do well to come back from this, I know only too well how he feels.

Moyes gave him a big pat on the back as he took him off.

"The lad will do well to come back from this..." - possibaly the biggest over the top, ridiculous thing I've ever read on this site and I'm a big fan of dave's posts!!! ohmy.png

  6. Fucking disgraceful performance. right up there in the worst performance I has ever seen by Everton. The only way we could have scored today was with a penalty as we very rarely threatened.

Moyes really can fuck off now. He doesnt have a clue and Jags can fuck off with him if he doesnt buck his ideas up as he was shambolic at times.

That's pretty much all I'll need to read in this thread!

I know lets dominate, play some nice football and lose!? All that matters today is we got 3 points - 3 points against a team who needed a performance as they'd lost their first 2 so were more than likely fired up for this one.

3 points - we've got something to build on. Fuck the performance - I seem to remember playing dreadful a few times in the 2004-05 season and winning - where did that get us?

For me the result is a strong foundation to build on after the international break... this will be a distant memory as we set-up against Villa, it'll just be 3 points from 2 games.

People need to remember we dominated Blackburn and played some good football at the beginning of last season - I know which result I'm happier with...

Oh and Liverpoo are playing really well and winning 3-0... Moyes out and sell Jags!!! - BORE OFF!!!!

  7. Will Everton prove Rovers bark is bigger than its bite or will it be all ®Over for the Toffees by 5pm.

Will probably see a few changes from the last outing with injuries to Becks and Cahill with Rodwell a possible doubt.

    Howard

    Neville Jags Distin Baines

    Barkley Fellaini Arteta Bilya

    Ossie

    Saha

    Rovers 1 Everton 2

    Why no Heitinga?

  8. We dont need wingers who cross the ball to play 4-4-2. Look at the Arsenal unbeaten team - they played 4-4-2 mainly as a defensive structure, when in posession they became 4-2-3-1, with Begkamp dropping behind Henry looking to spring him in. A brilliant counter attacking team.

The same can be said for uniteds recent formations, very effective and versatile. Is the 4-5-1 in effect a 4-2-3-1? No, because we only play one striker. When I have seen Saha and Beckford we look far more dangerous. Saha likes to drop deep, beckford advanced.

    The invicibles...

Bergkamp = world class forward - what we lack

Pires/Ljungberg = natural wingers - also what we lack

    Man.Utd...

    Rooney = world class forward

    Young/Nani/Valencia = natural wingers

We need wingers to spring attacks and if we want to play 4-4-2 we need someone who can drop in a link the play - Arsenal had bergkamp, united have rooney. We need wingers with pace and a forward.

  9. Arsenal and Everton are locked in a battle to sign Freiburg striker Papiss Demba Cisse.

Cisse, 26, is rated one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga after scoring 32 goals in the last 18 months.

The Senegal forward is producing the best football of his career and has already scored four goals in just three appearances this season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his forward line following the departure of Samir Nasri and has been impressed with the performances of Cisse.

But he faces stiff competition from Everton who are also looking for a proven goalscorer and want to bring new players in following their shock home defeat against QPR last weekend.

Freiburg are looking for around £13.5m for his signature and Cisse, who has also been linked with Fulham, has opened the door for a move to England after revealing that he would love the chance to play in the Premier League.

Cisse said: “I have a contract with Freiburg but I want to play at the highest level. The Premier League is a big league and I want to leave.”

  10. It's not negative, it's just reality. We need to be able to mix our play up and Barkley for me has the right 'get it and have a go' attitude which may pay dividends for our very rigid team. I do not want to see him lose that.

A lot of what you say is very negative which clouds over some very valid points you make. Try mixing it up with the odd positive posts... maybe not about Everton as you're very negative about that interest but what else are you into? Dogs, cars, home baking? What about a nice post (and picture) about a lovely cake you baked for a special occassion - then there maybe a rosier picture painted of you because at the mo and ever since the pax episode it's been as if you've been on your period. SteveO has got over it - it's now your time to shine...

I look forward to the home baking thread!!!

  11. We don't have to play 4-4-2 to play 2 strikers. We just play one less midfielder in the same system and instead play a holding striker.

So a 4-4-1-1 with a striker as a attacking midfielder? Exactly what our strikers do already as we haven't got the supply to attack high enough up the pitch.

Once again I hear what you're trying to say but we simply don't have an Aguero, Rooney, Tevez, Van Persie or in old currency Beardsley, Cantona, Zola, Bergkamp, Sherringham etc. or forwards to do this, we basically have 'target men' and 'poachers' - we have not got the complete forward who can drop back and create something from nothing like all of the previous mentioned have the ability to do - that's why we play midfielders there - I would say osman is our best make shift 'forward' in our current squad.

  12.

Arteta in the right team will open enough eyes to get a call up. He was given the nod before he was injured. I'm sure that will happen again if he can find form, especially if he plays for one of the best footballing sides in the world.

He was watched - never given the nod.
