I think he's a decent enough standard defender for where we are now even if he does seem to divide opinion a bit. My only problems would be not paying too much for him (if we have the case for that to be possible) and also isn't he an international that could be missing come the African Nations start of next year?

Surely that can't be it, a selection of games at this stage for all English teams have been on a combination of ITV4 and channel 5 at least the last 2 years so why not this season? Unfortunately I clearly remember watching the Liege game 2nd leg on tv at home but I never had Setanta and surely they wouldnt have let these terrestrial channels show the games they had rights to instead! These sum up my feelings on the matter perfectly, Being from Gloucestershire I'm the only blue who regularly drinks in my local and I've constantly been asked this week on my opinions to which I've replied, 'couldn't really care less if he goes or not now but either way he's a tosser for handing a transfer request in so close to the start of the season' does that really show much respect for the team thats helped you become a player that Shitty would pay over the odds for??? However if he does stay and doesn't let all this affect his game then I'll be fully behind him, he'll still be a tosser for doing it though!!!

This is what really annoys me now, don't they realise that top players don't automatically adapt to playing in a different system than they did before etc.... Did they never see any of Real Madrid's games during the 1st wave of the so called 'Galacticos'?? They had several players who many would put in the top few in the world at the time but hardly set the world alight did they?? My thoughts exactly!!!!! It's way too close to the start of the season to have to fuck about replacing players when what we should be doing is strengthening the squad we already have! Unfortunately as per usual this doesn't seem to be happening much either, but I'm relaxed about the whole transfer situation as long as we aint selling!!

Firstly, I must say I'm not a massive fan of the new away shirt mainly cos of the pink I think but I'm sure we've had worse in the past (can't remember an example off the top of my head though) but I wouldn't say it was a bad shirt. What annoys me most is to read in the papers them saying that it's worse than the Newcastle banana kit, that is absolutely hideous so no comparison! I'm not saying I'm likely to go out and buy or away kit but if bought for me as a present or something like that then I'd have no problem wearing it occcasionally.

I agree, I wasn't able to watch the game tonight, shame it's taken other people's problems to give him a better chance of starting but the more experience he gets in major competitions the better for him and for us, best of luck to the lad!!! I shall be definitely watching the next games against Spain and Germany, I can't see either of them being shit at this level so it will be a good test for the team as a whole and for someone I see as our next big thing coming through the ranks

I disagree, the majority of our 1st team are decent players that we could only get better than if we had some billionaire owner. The squad size has needed to increase for several seasons now and the chance to get 2 decent options as back up to what we already have for a reasonable price should be jumped at in my opinion!!

Just seen on SSN his agent has claimed that us, Arsenal and Villa have made enquiries. Unfortunately I expect he'll end up elsewhere but depending on the price I'd definitely have him here, he'd feel right at home with us already having a strong Nigerian presence and he is one of the few barcode players thats decent. Maybe we could do a swap for Vic eh?
