  1. Not sure what was wrong with that tackle from Browning
  2. Well we're definitely going to be passing out of the back this year. Going to be an adjustment for the lads.
  3. Guardian saying it's done, still not on OS though. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/jul/10/everton-sign-gerard-deulofeu-barcelona
  4. During his OS interview, Jags was talking about how things are new and different now and said: "a new style, new schedule you know it can transform some peoples careers, so now maybe the boys who were feeling a little bit jaded or whatever it have had a little bit a buzz" Any thoughts on who he's talking about as being jaded?
  5. Also highly relevant, his last name appears to be some version of "God of Fire".
  6. Think it's actually aimed an audience looking for an excuse to look at naked girls.
  7. Don't think we have the resources to move right now and don't think we'll be rushed into anything, so if the 3 days bit is accurate he won't be coming here.
  8. Be awfully surprised if he doesn't have at least two really good seasons with us. Is 6 million more than we wanted to spend? Of course it is. Was anyone else available in that range that would slot in and improve us? Don't think so. The question was asked on here repeatedly and I for one didn't see a single viable answer. I am curious about his wages though, hope he's on more or less the same as he was at Wigan. If Alcaraz comes in next for free I won't be too bothered either. We may well be trying a few different things at the back and will need players with different skill sets. Hope Johnny is going out, and the balance of the pre-sales kitty combined with wage savings and 2-3 mill for him could land us someone reasonable in midfield. Also, don't think the board has a damn thing to do with us not landing Honda, if that happens. He wants to be in Europe, I realize Milan aren't there this year, but I'd put more money on them being there next year than I would on us doing the same.
  9. Going to register in the stay category. He has a price, as all do. Nothing we've heard this summer, however, quite registers. I don't think he's at his full value. A year under Martinez would only take him to 26, and it might just bring out a world class player. I have a suspicion that Martinez might just be the man to deploy Fellaini properly. Base an entire defensive system around him. He can play several positions at once while gifting steel and composure to our central areas. In front of a 3 man defense, breaking up attacks, calming possession, then moving the ball from D, through the midfield, and further forward when space opens up. Played as a distributing and marauding wrecking ball, I think Felli might just be unrivaled. Show him as that, and then proper bids will come in.
  10. Been coming around to him, but I think it's a stretch to say he's better than what we have now. I think he's different than what we have, but I reckon end of the season goals tally between him and Jelly comes down to the kind of service from the midfield more than anything else. Strikes me as a different kind of striker than we've had of late, and I think he could potentially work well with any of the lads we already have up top or on his own, so for that versatility I think the 5 million is reasonable. Seems to have overcome his injuries and doesn't appear to have an attitude problem. Few folks on here saying he has a good scoring record, and for the most part seems true, but looks to me like he notched a grand total of 1 goal in 40 games while at Sevilla. Be curious to know what kind of system they were playing there or what went wrong. As we all know, we can hardly afford a 1 million dollar gaffe signing, let alone 5. We, as a club, have decided to take a jaunt down the Martinez road and he thinks this lad is worth the price. Fair enough. My real concern is that Bobby hasn't had the time to really get to know our squad before deciding who to bring in (assuming that we're as close to completing this deal as Coyle seems to think). Suppose I'm still in the camp that would like to see a real focus on getting the most out of Jelly by improving service from midfield. We definitely need more options up front though and 5 million on that position isn't bad in the medium term. I'm pleased that he's proven in the league and I don't think there's anyone else we could get in at that price with his pedigree.
  11. Not sure being a full international for Kenya counts for much of anything, but agree with you otherwise.
  12. Collar okay, hoops: why oh why? Think they look completely wank, don't understand them.
  13. Tongue in Cheek. We never jump on signings early, and can hardly see it happening with RM off on ESPN duty. Whenever TT unanimously acclaims a potential signing Everton are duty bound not to sign him. As MikeO says, blind optimism.
  14. I think he'll be here as well. Would really hate to see him at Chelsea. If we have any power over the situation we should look to move him out of the country.
  15. Looks like a much better version of Arteta to me. I assume Bobby is tying up the paperwork as we speak. Also didn't realize that Colombia are ranked 7th in the world. Didn't look a large lad, and according to Wiki he's 5'7 1/2. Might struggle a bit in the Premier league with the pace and power would be my worry, but if we keep Felli or have another monster in the middle to do the dirty work Torres certainly looks like he could play the distributor. Bet Jelly would love to link up with him. Through balls remind me of the stuff Modric plays through for him with Croatia. No work permit issue, 2 million, seems as safe a gamble as you'll find in today's market.
  16. Hey ThatDaveCh, I'm out in VIctoria myself. Glad to have another Cannuckistani aboard eh.
  17. Do not want the white bands on the sleeves, think it looks cheap garbage. Quite liked the solid blue, light white trim collar and a white patch running down from should to chest.
  18. This math only assumes that all the youngsters will be included in the full squad. Can easily see a few of them being loaned out.
  19. Don't think we could get anyone established for what we would get for the Jelly fish. Need to give him at least 6 months with the new system. If he's still not doing it by January then ship him out, someone will be willing to take the risk based on his history.
  20. Don't really think you can put a proper market value on this type of player. Needs a season of starting more or less every game. I'd hope Osman becomes the backup. With Fellaini and Gibson in behind, Ross would have a free hand and could play far enough up the pitch that we could afford the inevitable mistakes.
