  1. Early in the season their pitch should still be in decent shape, so if we go there with a mind to play football and put them under pressure we should be fine. Think it should be the same 11 if their fit, unless Gibbo is back. Still not confident we can keep a clean sheet though. 3-1
  2. Good win, boring second half. Need to be more lethal if we want to stay near the top of the table. A better opposition could've made that hairy for us, and Southampton nearly did with that Lambert header.
  3. Why bring on Distin? Would've thought that 70th minute in a game like this would've been a good opportunity to give a young lad a few solid minutes in comfortable surroundings.
  4. We're letting them stay in this game and we could yet pay for it. Need to put this to bed. Hate to see us get slack like this when we should be destroying teams. They're in tatters but we're just strolling.
  5. Amazing. As soon as my stream situation sorted itself we began to dominate and I barely had to watch use putter aimlessly through the first 15. Outstanding from Coleman and great finishing from Jelly. Love the way the midfielders are all interchanging, great stuff. Need to see a professional second half now, no let off for Southampton, who we could, and should, put 4 more past.
  6. My stream is absolute garbage, but it looks like Howard just came flapping at a corner and we're 1-0 down?
  7. Speaking of which, I'm starting to look at tickets on StubHub for the Wigan and Chelsea games over the holidays. Where are the best views/seats? I've not yet been to Goodison, but I understand there are quite a few obstructed views. Is Gwladys the place to be? Cheers -- Back on topic. Think we'll concede at least one. The clean sheet at Swansea was completely deceptive and Lambert looks like scoring every game. I fear we still haven't sorted out our best CB, and I suspect we'll be back to Jags and Distin for this one. Not sure we saw enough from Coleman at RB to keep that going at this stage, expect Tony back there and Neville back in midfield, joined by Pienaar, Ossie, Felli and Kev. Jelly up front. Standard fare, all depends on the attitude and Neville not driving us backwards with every touch. I'll be up at 7 am again for this one and hope to be kept awake by our fluent, attacking football, and not by screaming at my laptop for us to wake up. 3-1 for me as well. Would love to see Kev go on a little run in the league, so him, Jelly and Baines.

Ouch. Got what we deserved on the day. Could have had a couple of penalties, but should never have needed them against Leeds. Aghast to see the lads fall back into thinking they can walk through games for the second time already this season.

Why can't we keep the ball? Why are we playing route one against a team that only know how to play against that? Shockingly bad performance and tactics.

Well, that was never a foul. Getting what we deserve though. Never came to grips with the conditions or the tempo that Leeds has played with.

He's certainly a prick, but Diouf has been the best player on the pitch tonight.

You know, I don't think Anichebe has won a single aerial duel all game. Seems back to his drifting whining ways today.

Finally a good run and cross from Bryan. Would have been a goal from Jelly.

We don't seem to be able to keep the ball in the middle of the park and too many give aways, particularly from Oviedo.
  15. Agree with most of the comments, but thought Jags and Heits were really weak together. Really poor at responding when we lost the ball, just not picking up their marks. A better team or less acrobatics from Howard and we would have been made to pay for not putting in more earlier. Hopefully that partnership is able to get it together, because the ought to have the attributes to give us the solidity at the back that we need to cut the scary moments from our dominant performances. People saying that Coleman didn't do enough going forward, but I wander if he wasn't maybe given a specifically defensive set of instructions for Moyes, what with Kev in front of him and away from home. Hopefully we keep him in there for a few matches. Thought Oviedo looked interesting, quick, good touch, looking to get forward. Hope to see him start against Leeds.
  16. McFadden didn't work out, obviously the idea there was to drive up interest and make a quick buck. Hanneman was brought in as cover b/c Moyes, like most on here, don't trust Mucha. In my opinion Hargreaves is a different deal. We're short in DM. Gibbo's injury is the kind that could come back if we rush him back, which we'd tempted to do without cover. Junior isn't ready and we can't play Neville. Hargreaves for next to free has to be a goer. Best case we sign him for a year, he plays well, we sell in January. Worst case we waste 8 months wages on him.
  17. From the lads that were able to string letters into words and sentences I take that he looked decent, but will obvious need time to work into a massively overhauled team.

That's because Jelly is always looking to, and often does, strike clinically with his first touch. Vic always tries to control with his first touch (can't remember a first time attempt from him, ever) and often bobbles it away. This coming from a perennially misguided Vic supporter. On the Jelly front, ESPN included this in their post match analysis: EVERTON VERDICT: The win they deserved would have put them in the top four and, with this level of performance, they would not have looked out of place there. But they were uncharacteristically sloppy, with Phil Neville starting the game with a series of misjudgements. They also lost Jelavic, who banged his knee against the post; an injury Moyes does not believe will be too serious. Not sure where they're getting that from, but good to hear.

Even if Jelly is out for a while, I don't think we'd rely on Vic up front. Even today we swapped him and Kev around, and I bet we would move to a very fluid front three with Vic, Kev and Nais all interchanging. That said, we obviously need Jelavic back as soon as possible. From what I saw of the collision and injury it didn't appear to be a twist or tear, but I wager he has a mean bruise and probably serious swelling. I'll be surprised if he plays this weekend, but I think he'll be back by the end of the month.

You can see that he knows that too. Completely misread the shot, which was poor, and let it dribble past him. Think he'd tell you that one was on him. Second one, not much he could have done, it was a brilliant chest on and very deft little flick from Ba.

Robbed twice by the linesman and still nearly won it. Our defence always looked liked conceding once Ba came on, we simply could not deal with the two centre forwards, lucky us they didn't start that way. Howard and Pienaar both out to lunch for their first goal. Jagielka simply didn't compete for the long ball on the second. Gutted we haven't take the points and frustrated that we couldn't keep them out for 3 minutes. Shocking defending. Well done Vic though, battled hard. Still needs to improve his touch, but should have had two goals today and been the hero.

If Neville is going to add nothing going forward he at least needs to avoid giving the game away. Now that we have a few options on the right of midfield we're going to have to retrain some of the lads out of their 'always go left' mentality. Saw a couple opportunities when Mirallas or Hibbert were in acres of space but no one looked right, just straight out to Baines/Pienaar. Obviously nothing wrong with feeding those two, but they'll be much more effective if we don't let teams press numbers to their side by maintaining an attacking threat down the right. In that vein I think our next real priority has to be a more attacking right back. If Coleman isn't going to be trusted to do the job then we need to bring in someone who can. I like Mirallas' attacking intent, but as others have said he needs to just have a quick look up before pulling the trigger. That or at least go for the far post so someone can pick up a rebound or get a touch. Also think his passing technique is going to need work. You can just see that he seems to lift it a bit quite often making it tough to control his passes. He sees the right ball, but the way he hits it makes it hard for the receiver to play fluidly as the pass arrives. Great goal by Baines with a lovely flick from Pienaar. Should really be about 4-1 now, and we need to finish our chances or we will let them back in. They're playing shite, but still a team full of match winners. Come out second half like we started the first and we'll cruise, but we need to get that second goal. Don't think Howard has had a save to make, hope we keep it that way. Fellaini looking good without really dominating, popping up quite a bit on the wings and I wonder if he isn't a bit wasted there. Would rather keep him parked between the 18 yard lines whenever possible, as I reckon Anichebe will be in rather greater need of his support than Jelly was. COYB, 3rd in the table beckons.

Really hope to see Felli sitting deep with no Neville/Heitinga in midfield. Not sure Heitinga played much for Netherlands in the qualifiers, so I'd be surprised to see him start. I'm fairly certain Moyes will play it safe and start with at least one of our new attackers (Nais/Kev) on the bench and Coleman in front of Nev or Hibbo. Howard Hibbo Jags Distin Baines Felli Coleman Osman Pienaar Nais Jellyfish Don't see either team keeping a clean sheet and I think their absentees will tell more than ours. 3 - 1 with the third coming late after a period of them being on top Jelly, Baines and Kev for us, Ba for them.
  24. Rumoured to have been dependent on us getting Vadis, which appears to have fallen through.
