Lescott 7 - did ok, not his fault the first goal as had to cover the gaping hole in the middle of the defence
Totally agree - I think he has become the scapegoat for our bad performances this season. Today he wasn't at fault at all for the first goal. They broke from a Neville mistake down the right and the defence all pushed over and left Lescott with the choice of two boro players. He went towards the one in the centre (rightly) which left the player that scored. I thought he linked up well down the left today and there were definitly worse performances! All in all we created enough to have won this one.
-
why he has waited until there is less than 10 minutes to go to take off Saha I'll never know, he's been useless again, he's not even looked like scoring since he signed for us. Yak has been lazy as anything again, why not play both Vaughan and Anichebe and drop Saha and Yakubu as there is absolutely no movement up front.
Carl I don't agree with this. Last night especially in the first half I saw more interchanging play between the two that I've seen up to now. Saha had a decent finish from Yaks back heel and the goal shouldn't have been disallowed IMO (granted the keeper stopped). All partnerships need time and it was apoor performance by all last night. Can't just moan at the front two because the balls into them were awful. We had numerous crosses but until the goal none went near our front two. That said if its not happening changes should be made but they need tobe given a chance to gel!

howard
neville yobo jags baines
castillo
pienaar cahill fellaini arteta
saha
lescott and yakubu need droppin, lescott looked like he'd never played football in his life against utd, and the yak only had a 5 min good spell.
saha looks a quility signin, and fellaini was the best plyer on the pitch in the 2nd half. a reckon we'll win 3 or 4 nil with saha gettin 2, and hopefully/finally a clean sheet.
He's not had a great start to the season but I don't agree with that! I thought he played well against United especially in the second half. I would stick with the Yak and Saha partnerships don't happen overnight!

LOL.
well, if the belgian kid works out, i don't think u'll need him in january, unless you get more injuries (knock on wood). cuz i honestly can't see who'll take out to put him in.
Any or all of them!

It could be a blessing in disguise! Hear me out..... So far the 4-5-1 hasn't worked and with Timmy out I could see us playing 4-4-2 with Saha in (who has looked impressive). Only a thought and I think the appeal will be a waste of time, knowing the FA they'll probually stick on an extra game ban for appealing.
Never a red card challenge though!
-
All this said he hasn't been an instant hit (I think we all agree there!), I would have still liked to have seen the extra few million for Mountino! I bet he would have made a difference to our poor start.
-
1-1 Feed the Yak! Neville and Lescott having a mare.
-
Tim Cahill I'd have to agree. Lets hope we will be talking about Saha and Fellaini in this bracket in a year or two
-
It can only be one goal! Barry Horne Vs Wimbledon 94! If you take in all that was going on, the timing, the situation, Tina Turner sums it up 'Simply the best'!
Others I enjoyed at the time Rooney Vs Arsenal (what a run they were on at the time!)
Ferguson against Man U
I am I just making this up or can I remember a goal in the last few seconds, I think it was against the shite where it hit our midfielders backside from a free kick and went in however the ref claimed he'd already blown for time??!!? - If I'm not making this up it gets my vote.
-
I think we have paid over the top for him and would have rathered pay the extra for Moutinho. Still that said WE HAVE SIGNED SOMEONE!! Its on OS so I'm off to bed. We didn't quite get the 7 DM wanted!
-
We are obviously building for the future!
-
Could allways just take a nice comical cardboard cut out
^^^^^Genious!!!! --> Everyone bring a cardboard cut out of who we would like to sign. I'll bring Kaka
-
Welcome aboard! Sorry dont know about the DVD I was only born in that year!
-
Realisticly this isn't going to happen now! It seems to have lost all momentum.
-
We can't even sell a player normally! Take Bentley for instance all its gone through in about a tenth of the time and he's even scored on début!! If we start negotiating now at least we might get to sign the player in the January window

From the Echo following the Chicago defeat:
Moyes when asked if he could see any imminent movement in the transfer market - Sporting Lisbon’s Joao Moutinho tops the wanted list - Moyes replied: “Not at the moment, no. We are in a poor, poor situation regarding going forward.”
Slightly worring or is he playing it cool? I hope the latter!
-
He won't have failed the medical if so they woundn't of had him at the Fulham Vs Palace game! Even though he has CP connections.

Translated with a little online help to:
"The Sporting intends to soon receive the 25 million euros for the transference of João Moutinho for the English of the Everton. Although the express will to keep the medium in the breeding of Pablo Bento, the cm knows that the lions admit to leave to leave the player, by means of the immediate presentation of the money or of bank guaranties.
The club of Alvalade rejected already offers of 15 million euros of the Everton - it delivers for the entrepreneur Pini Zahavi -, but the arrival of new a proposal is imminent, in the value of 17 million euros. Toffee had received about 16 million euros for venda the advanced Andy Johnson to the Fulham and now goes to concentrate its efforts in Moutinho, of 21 years.
However, according to that the cm selected in England, the desire of the Sporting hardly will be materialise, a time that the immediate payment of the totality of the transference goes against the politics of the English club.
Collated for the cm, the technician David Moyes it was excused comentaraeventual acquisition of the leonine captain. " I do not say on athlete of others clubes" , it said.
The continuity of João Moutinho in Alvalade remains, thus, in doubt, as its iron brace of captain. A definitive decision still does not exist on this substance, but the cm knows that the destitution of the medium is a real hypothesis."
This alone needs some translating, but I'm reading good into it along as KW departure doesn't add a spanner into the already mangled works!

OW MY EFFING GOD!!!
when are we finaly going to start building a squad instead of selling to buy every time
we sold mcfadden in january then moyes decided a month later ow we shouldnt of sold mcfadden when really yes we should but you should have brought in a replacement
Anichebe-olimpics
vaughan-fitness doubts
cahill-fitness doubts
Yakubu- if come the first game of the season the yak picked up a knock and moyes stil does not have a replacement how much of a nob is moyes going to feel ?
I'm sure Moyes won't be the one responsible It'll be BK and Co!
-
nah neville will be released for free and lescott will be made captain
You got that one really wrong ANT#1!!!!
-
As well as not probably signing some of those players there is no chance that Neville won't be in the squad. Moyes will not leave out his captain
I agree with Jamie there is no way Moyes will leave him out. Doesn't mean I agree with it though! As long as he's not in midfield.........Can he captain from the bench????
-
Agreed...if you go back to the dark ages when I was playing as a kid 10 was "inside left," which involved (in the classic W formation)
Sorry Mike but when I was kid it was always 4-4-2 and I was the tall number 10 a kind of Bret Angel figure with half the talent I will start a campaign this isn't America next a goal will be worth 5 points and 10 if scored outside the area. Maybe I'm taking it to far...........
-
I for one still like the traditional numbering. 9 and 10 should be for he forwards and no one else IMO and Howard is our No.1 so why No.24??? I don't get it
-
The panic is we only have three midfielders in the squad this is ridiculous at any level of football. This said we don't want panic buying of crap midfielders!
Waterfront Stadium?
in General Everton Discussion
Posted
Update : 8th December 2008, 10:00pm : These images, after much investigation, have been found to have been drawn up by the previous owners of the land, prior to Peel Holdings buyng the entire Liverpool Waterfront, as part of their potential plans for redeveloping the area a number of years ago. Judging by the fact that they included a stadium, they clearly felt that the site could cope with a 55,000 seater stadium.
