  1. De Rossi has just gone up in my book (old but I hadn't seen it till now). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCdKLS3bfpI
  2. He has 96 goals in 194 premier league games which is just under 1 in 2 (0.495). Take his 1st two seasons away as he was converting from a midfielder to a striker and it shoots up to 0.597 goals per game (86 in 144). Not including Rooneys 1st two seasons he has 129/251 (0.514). Rooney averages 16.13 per season compared to RVPs 14.33 less than a 2 goal difference with Rooney averaging 6 more games per season in a better side. Imo Drogba and RVP have been class above the rest of the strikers over the last 5 years. Both of them scoring worldies against us.
  3. He played every game last season. Only risk is his ankle going again, but think all his injuries have been from contact (not helped by his recklessness) so less likely they'll reoccur as he has somewhat calmed down. Only missed the majority of games on one season of the last 4.
  4. If he stays fit he will be a bargain. He's better than Rooney who would fetch over £30 mil. Agree prices in football are ridiculous.
  5. Arguably the best striker in the world, and he's in his prime years. One in two goals to game ratio, which was closer to 1/1 last year. Leon Best has just been sold for £3 million, I'd expect RVP to be closer to 30, drop to 15 in Jan (Bolton managed to get £7 mil for Cahill). If he signs a new contract he would be close to £50 mil.
  6. Good signing if they can get him on the pitch, much better than his brother.
  7. Looks great covered in snow. a Woodison sign would have been perfect .
  8. Ezequiel Lavezzi has rejected a move to Man City, in favour of a £21mil with PSG, signing a five-year deal worth £77,000 per week
  9. Did there used to be another shed thread? I hope so as its very sad if I remember this one from 5 years ago. Any how know one or two of you like sheds so thought I'd post the she dof the year. It looks better on the inside, never though I'd want to visit a shed but I do now. http://www.shedblog.co.uk/2012/07/01/the-winner-of-shed-of-the-year-2012-is-the-pub-shed-woodhenge-owned-by-john-plumridge/
  10. Good deal if they can convince Kaka to come, rumoured* Sahin turned down being part of the deal. *Guillem Balague ‏@GuillemBalague Modric possible move to Madrid goes cold. Sahin doesnt want to go to Spurs in exchange. Spurs dont wann sell to PL teams.
  11. Miranda Kerr, phwoar! Fair to say I'd stick it in the pink
  12. As his job was to hold up the ball and allow Johnson to get forward. As was Parker for Gerrard. Englands tactics revolved around these 2 players to attack and Welbeck (another joker there to eventually compliment Rooney, Sturridge should have been there) to make space for Young and Gerrard. Accommodating the 2 kopites was is the main reason England failed, should pick the best players that suit tactics that are best played against the opposition. Only way to excuse building tactics to accomodate a player is if they are so much better than any other option you have eg. Portugal with Ronaldo. Would England of played that way with Osman in the middle and Hibbert/Neville at the back, nope... it would have been a more balance team and allowed for more flexibility and give the nation a better chance of succeeding than the piss poor show they did.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG8f5vv64v0&feature=player_embedded#! Beckham kicks the ball at a player time wasting, feigning an injury, the player then jumps up to have a go. Beckham got booked, should be the other way round as the opposition was blagging it.
  14. To give Johnson credit is ridiculous, he had Milner do the defensive work allowing him to overlap. Makes Johnson look good but you have to give Milner credit for doing the job to allow Johnson to get forward... or moan at Hodgson as it was an awful tactic.
  15. Who picked Terry? Sweden game aside, I think he had a good tournament. Still a chocolate starfish though.
  16. Arsenal - Giroud, Podolski Aston Villa - Holman Chelsea - Hazard, Marin Man U - Powell QPR - Andy Johnson, Diakite, Green, Nelson West Ham - Diame, Jaaskelainen Out Fulham - Murphy Man U - Kuszczak Spurs - Corluka, Kranjcar All free or undisclosed.
  17. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7858603/Black-Cats-capture-Cuellar Cuellar signed for Sunderland. Thought he would have found a better team.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdI-AF_KaBQ&feature=player_embedded#! Top tekkers, so good even Jo can score thanks to it.
  19. He's free so we may be in talks with his agent still just finalising the final details. I think a player needs permission for a medical with another club so under usual circumstances a team would be close to finalising a deal. There has been occasions were players have passed medicals then the parent club has pulled out of the deal.
  20. To include Johnson and Gerrard you need Milner and Parker for babysitting them, the turtle has obviously had his head in his shell and just listened to the kopites on the radio. My team Casillas Piszczek/Selassie Pepe Lescott Alba Dzagoev Pirlo © Moutinho Ozil Mandzukic Rosol* Hard to include many Spain players as other than the final no player other than the keeper and maybe Alba have stood out imo. Note worthy (some just for one game) Di Natale, Ballotelli, Bendtner, Agger, Diarra, Lewandowski, Shirokov, Khedira, Salpingidis, Shevchenko, Mellberg, Lahm, Bender. Flops Szczeny Rami Mathijsen Mexes Boateng Robben Poulson Andrews © Rooney RVP Gomez
  21. Just to extend on StevO's post. That would reduce the base price as well as the brand (which would incorporate the players commercial value), but on the positive side of putting a figure on the club it would reduce our debt to equity ratio. The true value of a player would be one that keeps the ratio constant. But there are many papers on calculating the value of a Sports team as putting everything into monetary terms is difficult. The main problem is that players are both tangible(you can touch them) and intangible assets(you can not directly put a value on ability). Personally I'd include players as their wage plus their market value(problem: difficult to calc unless actually sell). On top of this there is the club's tangible assets. Then there is the problem of measuring a brand value eg. how much is someone willing to pay for a cup compared to how much extra they would pay for an Everton emblem on the same cup. To do this you would also have to incorporate growth as the pool of fans increases the market for Everton goods (this presents another problem of how long you should factor in growth to calc a value for today). Same goes for revenue streams, plus factor in shocks eg. the huge boost from tv, or a European campaign. The academy (coaches and scouts) would be a ballache to include as there is no way to guarantee another Rooney. Best way would be to analyse the % of footballers produced within the allocated boundary and divide between the clubs in that boundary with different weights according to the success of the scouts. Basically 100s of variables to include that may need to be converted from non monetary value so is an estimate that no matter how well worked out, someone will disagree on as they may disagree on discounting factors, what side of the balance sheet something should go on, wether a variable should be included ect. I'm going to finish here as I'm boring myself so more than likely you as well. Point being it is very difficult to put a price on a club that everyone will agree with.
  22. Fourth Official ‏@Fourth_Official Steven Naismith booked in for a medical early this week at Everton's Finch Farm, Everton return for pre-season on Tuesday
  23. Di Natalie looks lively, possibly worth a punt.
