  1. Heard some good things about the kid at Chelsea. Worth a gamble. Bendtner is definitely of interest at that price too. Apparently quoted as saying that he wants to go to a club where he is guaranteed to be playing week in week out, so not necessarily one of the big CL clubs. The exact quote on SSN made me think of our current position in the pecking order of the Premier League.
  2. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11683/8769416/League-One-David-Weir-named-Sheffield-United-manager-as-he-leaves-Everton Also on SSn
  3. Just watching a a game on ESPN and saw Obafemi Martins playing for Seattle Sounders in the MLS. Was very good at Inter and Newcastle. Still looks to have pace to burn and wouldn't cost much I reckon.
  4. Plus the new Arsenal kit is going to be made by Puma isnt it?
  5. Bentley and Bostock from Tottenham Alex Pearce from Reading Danny Simpson from Newcastle I'd take a punt on Arshavin as well. Think he still has potential for 2 yrs or so. Pretty sure Sanchez Watt was supposed to be the next big thing at Arsenal wasn't he... Finally.... Ross Turnbull and Benayoun from Chelsea. Not saying get them all, but some could add depth at the very least to the squad.
  6. Some really good well thought out posts on here today. I was unsure about Martinez if I'm honest, but the interview today has given me some real optimism. He seems to be ambitious, enthusiastic and aware of the expectations of fans and I hope that he really goes on to build something special for us.
  7. Not sure whether it belongs here or in another thread, but there seems to be a lot more managers making moves at the end of this season than I remember before. Everton, Man U, Citeh, Stoke, Chelsea Bayern Napoli Real, Malaga, Valencia Walter Zenga been sacked from one of the bigger jobs in UAE as well Mostly pretty big jobs on the face of it, and I'm sure there's more that I've missed. Lots going on on the managerial merry go round.
  8. They should romp Ligue 1 next season. Used to quite like Monaco years ago when they had the likes of Giuly and Morientes playing for them, but can't be doing with another team just going out and trying to buy the league.
  9. If he hits form again, he's worth much more than £8m to us although having seen his fall from grace last season I agree it's doubtful he could regain his touch quickly. £8m would be a decent little wedge for the incoming manager to find a gem from somewhere.
  10. Like the look of the away shirt. Home is very ordinary looking, but agree that the motto is a decent touch on the collars.
  11. Rangnick is defo an interesting name in the mix. Did some good stuff in the Bundesliga and had a few other clubs after him in the past. Reservations about his health concerns, although if they're behind him, he's definitely worth a second look in my opinion.
  12. Had a look at some of the templates from Nike and not massively inspired if I'm honest. We're likely to get the template (Revolution II) United used for their away kit, and I wouldn't mind the Barcelona (precision II) template in a different set of colours for the away.
  13. I was going to post about the Poyet rumours after I just herd he'd been suspended from Brighton. I wouldn't mind him if I'm honest. Has a good footballing philosophy, and has managed to turn a poor team into something decent without a huge ammount of money. I'm glad it's not me making the choice though, so many positives and negatives for each and every candidate.
  14. I like the article about Pereira in the Echo. Sounds experienced in the scenario we've become accustomed to. No money and having to sell to buy. The more I read and hear about him, the more I become convinced he could be the man for the job. Nothing against Martinez as I think his teams play good (but not winning) football, but I don't really want a manger who has taken his team into the championship. For comparison, look at the impact Mcleish had at Villa after taking Birmingham down.
  15. If I was a gambling man, I would suggest that United won't bid for any of our players next season UNLESS somebody else comes in for them first. I think Moyes worked too hard to build something here, and create a legacy of his own to go and tear the heart out of it within 5 minutes of leaving.
  16. Got a sneaky feeling that it might be someone coming in under the radar, and none of the leading contenders with the bookies. Wouldn't mind someone like Poyet, who has done a great job at Brighton, but dear God please keep Martin O'Neill, Neil Lennon, Mark Hughes and any of the other has beens away from our club.
  17. Downing: overrated everywhere he's been. Lucas: just poo.
  18. Mate of mine is a Villa fan and says that he'd be happy as long as its not another 5-8:0 humping. Reckon we'll win 3:1, Jelavic with 2 (if he can stay onside) and Distin (because they can't defend corners).
  19. Thought Mirallas was the best on the park when he came on. Vic worked hard as has become custom now. Think it was actually Jelavic that cleared up first half with a goal line clearance and then hooking away after Howard block. Think everyone else was pretty disappointing and ineffective.
  20. The barcodes are after Youan Goufran from Bordeaux. 6mths left on his contract, and looks likely to be going for less than £1m. Could be a good addition from what I've seen of him before.
  21. I can see how the press have gone... erm 2+2=23
  22. Not even on the bench tonight. Defo on his way out I reckon, and just making sure he doesn't crock himself.
