We had £11m in the pot for Fernandes/Gonazalez last year £4m for McFadden Leaves us with £15 and we must be able to afford £10m from next years budget in the summer. So in the summer.. Pienaar £2.5m Fernandes £11m Diarra now £6m! Leaves us 6 or 7 mil to play with. Not sure what we need after that to be honest (nothing urgent springs to mind).

Something like £12m. The boy has a lot of talent he could be top draw but certainly isn't the finished article yet. He is quite a lump which is nice to have in our tiny midfield too. I remember reading a forum with a portugal supporter saying that he has the most talent of their up and coming players. A bit lacking in pace but we should be able to pass through teams with that midfield.

He is one of the only players in our team capable of beating a man and creating something out of nothing. He isn't not great and painfully inconsistent but for £2.5m he's worth keeping! I do think he is improving slowly. If only they could get him some sprint training...

I'm sorry. You need to provide for AJ - he isn't the kind of player like Henry that create out of nothing. He provides the goods if you provide him. I still think AJ is one of out best players but we have to play to his strengths. Yak was awfull in the first half especially. Cahill needs to be either a midfielder or a striker. If its the former then he needs to contribute something else - we can't afford to carry him especially when our backs are against the wall. There are certain players on Toffeetalk you get done for directing any criticism at i.e. Lescott, Arteta etc. Rant over.

Did Cahill play today? Ok great scoring record but that is the only thing he brings. Was really impressed by Faddy tonight. Perhaps its time to give him a run out on the wing. Lescott is greatbut he seems to make one howler every time I've sen him play. I'd say Joe is the most consistant.

What annoys me is that we seem so closeto get a result against the top teams but we just keep falling short. Thought Neville was excellent tonight along with Faddy & Hibbert.

Man threats are SWP, JC and Ballack. If Baines plays then awe will have some pace to defend against SWP. Ballack is a big threat though. With Lampard out of the squad he is starting to find his feet. I do agree that he isn't as 'direct' as last year. However, these stats are basically useless. If Arteta beats 5 players and passes it to AJ who nudges it onto Yak to score then AJ get's the assist. I stand by the fact that most of the goals stem from something good by Arteta (and increasingly Pienaar).

I'm seriously amazed people are even comparing the two. I can se what you are trying to say - you are saying that although he doesn't have the tricks the end results is the same. However, I just don't agree. Arteta's tricks allow him to beat a defender or get room to get a cross in. How many assists does this man get? Nearly all of them! I don't think Arteta has had a great season to be honest but on top of his game he is almost unplayable.

I'm not sure about this tracking back issue. Do you think Ronaldhino tracks back much? Ok to DB isn't in the same class but you can see where I'm coming from. My point wasn't that we need a few players to strengthen but more that we are having reached the pinnacle of what we can afford. For example, how are you going to improve on players like Yak? You need to be shopping in the big names market. We can strenghen in one or two areas but for me most of the team rebuilding has been done. There is still a little way to go granted. Phase 1 - safe from relegation Phase 2 - mid table security Phase 3 - regular top 6 & europe Phase 4 - regular top 6 & europe, win something Phase 5 - top 4 & champions league Phase 6 - the world! I think we are midway between phase 3 and 4 at the moment. I just think to get in phases 4 onwards we will struggle because we can't afford that level of 'super-player'. But as I've said before, Wenger seems to be able to do it. Just look at Fabregas (absolute quality). World Class player and was 'affordable' because of his age. So in other words. I've totally contradicted myself.

We have got good players and every position now and there isn't an obvious weak spot. Its only the dynamic midfield general we really need. But where do we go from here? The likes of Yak, AJ and Mikel are some of the best players in the league outside of the big names i.e Torres, Drogba, Fabregas, Lampard etc. We can't afford this level of player so where do we go next? What I mean is: First class ======= Drogba Torres Rooney (spit) Tevez Gerrard Lampard Ronaldo Fabregas Second class (best of the rest) ==================== Berbatov Keane Benjani G Barry Muntari Anelka David Bentley Maybe we dont need to. Its not like Wenger has bought big name players.

Well done boys. Thought Hibbert was excellent tonight. Doesn't much praise and was MOM for me. Also thought Jags was good. Anichebe excellent too but Wessels looks very shaky He also looks far too much like James Blunt. Faddy & Grav were poor. Great result though. Well done.
