What a farce. He was under investigation for 9 months. Then he gets banned from Tour and all of a sudden it is resolved in 3 days. Other riders with lower levels of Salbutamol did get a ban in the past and UCI nor WADA have given any reason why this time it is allowed. UCI shooting itself in the foot on this one, in a sport where they have to regain publics confidence with all doping trouble of past (and present).

He's been cleared by UCI .. most likely will be allowed to start.

England has to get past Colombia, and probably Switzerland and Croatia. Belgium have to beat Japan, and probably Brazil and France. England will only have to play one other tournament favourite, in the final. France, Brazil, Uruguay and Belgium all have to go through eachother. If the price for your path to final is Colombia as first game in the last 16, I'd happily pay it.

Yes but ASO has clashed with UCI before. They own the biggest races and can pretty much do whatever they want. A lot of other riders think he shouldnt be allowed to race, and the head of UCI is on record saying he wishes Froome would just take himself out of the race until he can explain and prove why he had to use Salbutamol.

Maybe the VAR shouldn't be allowed to intervene, but each team could get 3 challenges like in Tennis. If your challenge was correct, you don't loose one of your 3. isn'tt there a similar system in the NFL, but with only one challenge?

I like the VAR system. Players know the incident will be reviewed so no point in trying to fool the referee. System needs some adjustments but definitely a positive evolution.
