  1. Ofcouse this belongs in this thread. Matt had the right to work in Switzerland thanks to his EU citizenship. Now that a voting majority in the UK has decided he should loose that citizenship, he loses his right to work there. I think the issue the EU still have with the British guarantee of settlement for EU citizens is the fact they have to pay 70£ (?) per person.
  2. The will of the people is a tricky argument. Latest Survation Poll: — Referendum on final deal: 48% yes / 25% no — A no deal Brexit would be: 47% Bad / 32% good — Soft Brexit 43% / hard Brexit 37% — Remain 53% / Leave 47% I realise polling is often very wrong so I would disregard the Remain-Leave difference (basically country still split down the middle), but the spread on referendum on final deal (+23% for final say) is very big. Also, much credit to the right wing press and the Jacob Rees Moggs of this world for still having 32% of the British populace believe a no-deal-brexit is preferable.
  3. The rest of the world should just let him blow himself up. This is a great point by one of Autralia's former trade negotiators (Dmitry Grozoubinski): Trade 'War' suggests countries shooting at each other. That's not what's going on. The correct analogy for tariff hikes is blowing up your own cities and wafting the resulting smoke across the border in the hopes it will sting their eyes.
  4. I don't think, on this, it's OK to just wait for the next elections to try to change this policy of traumatizing children by separating them from the parents and putting them in cages. This is definitely in "Wir haben es nicht gewusst"-territory.
  5. https://www.propublica.org/article/children-separated-from-parents-border-patrol-cbp-trump-immigration-policy I cant listen to that for more than a minute without feeling sick fury. Every American should hang their head in shame.
  6. England playing best 15 minutes of this WC so far.
  7. Panama seems to be the kind of team that once you score the opener, its easy to score many more. Tough to get the first though, took a superb strike from Mertens.
  8. I don't know about the rest of Europe but we celebrate this on the second sunday of June, ie last weekend. Happy Fathers Day. Love my kids, but took some convincing by my wife to start a family; in the end gave in convinced I was infertile due to years of smoking and alcohol (aka life as a student).
  9. They add up to 48,5 .. one team with 5,5 players?
  10. Concacaf only gets three countries, right? WC18= costa rica, mexico and panama.. so if mexico, US and canada qualify automatically there will be no concacaf qualifiers?
  11. He says to your face that everything will be OK and exactly the same and anyone who says otherwise is Project Fear, while at the same time moving his and his clients' money to the EU.. How does that not make your blood curdle? Maybe brexit can be a success in the end, I don't see it but I don't know.. but you can guarantee failure with hypocrites like him (and BJ) leading the way.
  12. Moggster https://www.irishtimes.com/business/financial-services/irish-investment-vehicle-linked-to-hardline-brexiteer-rees-mogg-warns-of-brexit-risks-1.3529280?mode=amp&__twitter_impression=true
  13. You can't take credit for the civil war idea. Farage already said months ago he'd pick up a rifle if Brexit is thwarted.
  14. George Galloway says a million
  15. I wonder what they'll say in a 100 years time of those who were on the side of Farage, Johnson, Fox, Trump, LePen, Wilders and Putin in the brexit debate
  16. Pretty sure all fridges are electric, Mark. The cooling mechanism uses gas (freon?).
  17. German manager plays German goalkeeper.
  18. yes I think it's bad for cycling he is winning races when at some point he might be erased from the result. I hope Dumoulin overtakes him. I guess Yates today proved he's clean
  19. Well even the brexiteers are doing (something like) that .. https://www.forbes.com/sites/francescoppola/2017/11/12/british-lawmaker-advises-investors-to-take-their-money-out-of-the-uk/amp/ The official term is 'disaster capitalism' .
  20. I don't remember who it was, but one of the financial backers of Vote Leave made money by betting on a sharp drop in the value of the pound after June 23rd. I think his name was Crispin Odey. It's interesting to see what a lot of these Brexiteers think the financial consequences of Brexit will be by looking at what they do with their own money or what advice they give to their clients. (See John Redwood, etc). I'm not saying they don't think the financial hit is worth it (probably because they can stomach it). The point is they're lying to you because they know a lot of people voted brexit thinking it was the financially safer choice. Look at Mike's link. HMRC says the governments preferred customs plan will cost the UK economy 20 billion every year. Roughly comes down to 350 million a week. I'm betting leaving the Single Market will be a much bigger hit than 20 billion a year.
  21. oops, I always assume British = Sky.
  22. His (twin) brother is very good too. Both very talented and great fun to watch. Allthough I have to say, racing for Sky, I really hope they're doing it clean. Froome shouldn't be allowed to race anymore until he manages to clear his name (most teams would have benched him already). After all the problems with Wiggins, Team Sky is becoming synonymous with shady practice.
