Like De Gea, you mean. :irony:
Everyone in goal has their off days. Also, quite frankly, I don't believe he could be blamed for any of the goals last weekend.
Me neither, it seemed like purely defensive mistakes.
-
He's never really matured. Shows that in his play and tendency to get needless cards.
-
So does anyone else still actually see anything in him?
Confident lad off the pitch, doesn't do anything to actually back it up on the field.
This match and the derby aside I don't think he's been that bad. I think he's got a future here and really just needs to add some bulk.

Furious at Rom right now. His last 15 cost us the game.
It did, we needed an outlet. Those shots from impossible distances/angles are just selfish. Especially after the effort from everyone else.
-
Very interesting...
Apparently lukaku shusshed Williams after he rightly had a go at him for not holding the ball up/giving an option.
Ian wright and Rio saying it's not right.
Lukaku then apparently referred to him as a son of a bitch in French to pogba.
Not good at all.
They said it wasn't right that Williams said something to Lukaku? He was right, he sees it better than anyone in that position.

Now that my heart rate has slowed, it's obvious that a draw was the obvious outcome of that match. Great performances and some abject ones. That's what you get.

I'm sure Rom publicly wished Seamus the best in his interviews while on international duty.
Can't remember which one, but I'm sure he did.
He did, he basically said "I wish him well and we'll look after him when he gets to Finch Farm" He may be preoccupied by his own ambition but not to the point where he's disinterested in the well being of his colleagues/friends. Not even Davies mentioned Coleman on Instagram, so there's really nothing in it.

Agree, so what you want to sign him again for Europa rotation and cups?
Fact of the matter is we will need bodies next year. He seems to get along well, koeman likes him, he's been able to contribute a few goals and assists and doesn't bitch about playing time. Sounds like a perfect bench player to me albeit a little pricey.
Yeah the price is the sticking point but you can't say he hasn't performed when called upon. He's aware we play a single striker down the middle yet still wants to be apart of things.

Played well today. Was always trying to beat his man and looks strong even though he's so skinny.
If he puts on some muscle mass; the right balance in order to maintain his speed and athleticism, he'll be really dangerous. I'm sure the physio staff is thinking the same thing. He still looks very much adolescent in the upper body, but his legs are pretty much filled out. He has the desire to scrap but once he has the tools he'll be even better.

Got his first goal, pleased for him, also was impressed that he has some steel about him. Looks bigger than 5'7''.
He is so much bigger than that. It's funny you mention it. I was looking him up and the info said that height, along with being 142lbs, which is hard to believe. I'm 5'10" and roughly 160lbs. so I see his combo being a little counterintuitive. When you look at photos with him and Barkley celebrating you can see they're roughly the same height. Google tells me Barkley is 6'2". I think DCL's info is just old via Wikipedia or something because he's certainly taller and heavier than those numbers.
I'm excited for his future, he's impressed me thus far. Especially considering he came here in August.

Depends what your definition of footballer is.
For me Rom is a great footballer, he scores goals, creates chances, stretches defenses. What he does not have is great ball control which Bergkamp did have. But Technique is not the be all and end all of being a great footballer.
I agree. And for what it's worth, Rom is huge. For such a physically imposing athlete to move at the speed he does is impressive. The second goal after latching on to the stray back pass; I watched that step over a few times. He's made it his own and I love his confidence in 1 v 1 situations. His strong mentality is key to his play.
I used to be frustrated that I wasn't a fan of our striker; he just didn't play in a style I enjoyed. That has changed over the last two seasons, but especially this one. It's a majestic sight seeing him in full stride around the half way line, and even from there having the fans rise in anticipation of a goal. That's awesome. I'm just gonna enjoy it and leave this thread alone for a while, haha.

Always a good point of reference:
Shirt to the fans doesn't look like a goodbye to me, it looks like a sorry, of sorts.
-
Great shout!
Seriously
-
Good on Rom for wearing them down. Maguire and Co. marked him close, but Rom kept at it all match.
-
Who just won that bet?!
-
Err, yeah, Lookman should be in there...
-
Shitbag ref. Classic card happy refs these days ruining the game. Poor form in the tackle but not enough force to be a red.
Agreed
-
I would like to see Barry in a coaching role.
-
Aye
-
Coleman sure is aloof sometimes...
-
We are dominating and look fairly comfortable however we don't really look too much if a threat either. Has Rom even had a shot yet?
One, I believe.
-
Nervous play; we needed that break.
I really like the look of Dom. He's a technical player.
-
Timing could come down to his agent twice spouting off "oh he's signing" in recent times, maybe Rom has done this as everyone just keeps asking him when is he signing and he's had enough of the questions, or maybe he doesn't want to lead the fans on that he is about to sign? I don't know, just like everyone else.
See I don't see him being impatient as such, how many times has Everton pissed us all off in the transfer market? We are still taking our time with everything, yes we are moving forward but an example is how long it took for us to sign Morgan, we missed out on targets such as Gabbidini. Last summer we only spent money once Stones was gone. I do fully understand what you mean by he is being impatient as we are heading forward, but at what pace?
I can see the argument for him using this as his "good guy" excuse for pushing through a transfer as well mind, I just thought I'd offer one possible side to all of this.
I understand the perspective for sure. As a supporter I never assumed this transition would be lightning quick. But then that's the difference between playing and being a fan obviously. His career being only a moment in a long view spectrum for me. It'd be great if he wanted to be apart of a club that I believe does have the ambition he speaks of, but if he doesn't it's no matter to me.
Mostly when I speak of timing I'm referring to the comments coinciding with our good form.
For what it's worth, everyone seems all good:
I check that weekly because it seems like a nice behind the scenes glimpse.

Not the place for it but I definitely think he's a vile human being, so yeah I'd be insulted if someone referred to me as such. I generally don't think you grasp the weight and detriment of his character or appointment as president.
*that's not to say I think it's a clever analogy, but I get the point he was trying to make...
