  1. I think DCL is a work in progress with a lot of the right tools. Perhaps his finishing isn't where it's supposed to be, but he works incredibly hard and makes some really great runs. He also wins a lot of aerial duels.

  2. I was saying to some friends yesterday that Mirallas has some new incentive this season with better players around him. If he doesn't perform he won't play and it won't be because of his relationship with the manager. I think these are the right conditions for more consistency from him.

  3. Great business so far, but still spent no money. I really hope we have a couple of big players to come. Although happy with deals, still not happy with the apparent 'sell to buy' attitude.

I feel like that's more coincidence than anything, no? I mean, there needed to be wholesale changes in the squad and the Lukaku/Barkley situation was transparent to all of us. Players were always going to be leaving and now we have more competition. I personally think that's more circumstance than anything. Our 'sell to buy' model has worked in reverse in the past...usually only on deadline day, surely things are different now.

  4. I was watching the Premier League avidly some years ago but considered myself a neutral fan and then I saw Arteta's performance and goal against Fiorentina. Obviously a shame about the result, but when that goal went in I was captivated by the crowd's reaction. It made me take notice because I hadn't seen or heard anything like that thus far. The goal was beautiful, but the people drew me in.

  5. I felt the same about DCL last season and in the under 21s. Lots of effort but just seems to not have the instinctive finish. I hope I'm wrong but it's something you cant teach.

Didn't he have a goal wrongly disallowed?

  6. I think at times, to me anyway, it feels like some peeps use his goals as a get out clause for his other behaviours.

It feels like we/you/they would still have him here just for his goals and totally disregard all the other shit.

To me, personally, this feels wrong. I struggle to get my head around why fans would want to accept such things from any of our players.

I don't expect players to 'love the club' like true fans do. But I do expect a level of respect towards the club and more importantly, the fans. Constantly touting himself out to other clubs, questioning the clubs ambition, naming the fans of a club he hasn't yet signed for as the best fans only a couple of months after the final game 'walk of shame' where he spent most of the time on his phone....but it's OK, because he scores goals.

I just don't get that mentality.

Sandro's interview, after having actually completed his transfer was far more respectful to his current and past employers, and he'd only been at Malaga for a year.

  7. I have to say, I just don't get the hype around Hart. I've seen him play on multiple occasions, and he makes blunder after blunder. He's making them now at Torino. I admire his passion, but he seems a bit flat-footed to me.

I agree, I think he's pretty awful and the only real upside is the aforementioned passion and 'profile' he brings.

  8.

Class by the club and everyone who payed him a visit. Seamus and his spirits have been on my mind a lot. Clipped wings for such an energetic and well intentioned professional. Does he have a home in Sligo? I really liked that place when I passed through a couple years back.
