  1. Hence why I put before he went to Southampton, I doubt he'd have stayed at Celtic if we went knocking

He won't end up here anyway City have a big interest apparently so we don't stand a chance again

    Misread your comment, apologies.

Im hoping the interestest from City is just paper talk. Down to the player too, he may want to work with Koeman again?

  2. Never going to happen, we are stuck with Koeman for now, in Moshiri's own words 'Koeman is a Hollywood manager' also Howe has had a few other offers now and seems reluctant to leave Bournmouth

Stuck with Koeman? Do you think Eddie Howe could do better job with our current squad? Could he rebuild this club? Who could he attract? Have any players outside of the Prem even heard of him?

Why would anyone want Eddie Howe over Koeman?!

  3. no thanks on the loan, if Howe is what takes to bring the best out of our players we should sign him not send ross their way.

Howe isnt Everton standard and nowhere near. The point was Barkley may need time away from Everton and the all the pressure to re-establish himself, playing at a team with no expectations may be what he needs right now.

  4. Most are rightfully skeptical after 3 yrs of Martinez but you cannot start judging Moshiri/Koeman/Walsh until this time next year. In my eyes top half this year can be defined as success. We all want more for the club obviously but this investment has always been a long term build. It's not oil money from the middle east or russia, and FFP is in place now. This is a legitimate re-build of the club from the inside out.

Having said that if we look like this a year from now ill be absolutely fuming.

Agreed. A full summer and pre season is needed with his own players or at least 75% his own players.

  5. He is too wasteful, slows play and makes the wrong decisions time after time. Thats something I dont think will change. Im not doubting his talent when he turns it on he is great to watch but he seems a 1 in 5 type player these days.

He had a dreadful Derby, for such a big lad he doesnt half pull out of challenges (possibly due to the injury he had a few yrs back).

I dont know what the future holds for him but if we have aspirations of being a top 4/5 club then im not sure if he will be around for much longer.

Bournemouth is a good shout, a good footballer side with a very understanding Manager in Eddie Howe. Maybe he needs a season away from Everton on loan like Wilshire.

  6. I think the difference between first and second half performances in the derby showed us just how much we need McCarthy when he is fit and on form.

Whilst his fitness is an issue, I am not so worried about the last drop in form as I am convinced that if we can get him fit there is one hell of a player there.

If Besic comes back strong and we get Schneiderlin in January that gives us some exciting midfield options which could change our standard 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-1-2

    New Keeper

    Coleman ? ? Baines

    McCarthy. Gana. Besic/Schneiderlin

    Barkley/?

    Lukaku. Valencia/DCL

That would give us the energy and ability to press that Koeman demands but I still think we need another striker and, though it pains me to say it, Barkley may not thrive in that system. Would Man U do a straight swap for Mata?

I dont think Schneidelrin will be coming to play in rotation. I think he will be signed as a starter each week and rightly so. He was the best DM in the league whilst at Southampton.

Hopefully Besic proves he can last more than 3 games but his injuries are a big concern.

Id keep McCarthy, his last 2 games he has proved how vital he can be. He also adds a bit of snide/aggression to the team which we massively lack. He seems the perfect 'Koeman' player tbh.

  7. If someone was going to design a modern footballer on a computer his physicality and technical skills set would be close to Barkley than any other player.

Powerful, quick, 2 very good feet, skillful, good passing ability, great shot....

The lad needs a dose of arrogance, self belief and above all players who revolve around him.

Maybe Ronaldo but i get your point.

The question isnt his technical ability though its his mental strength and footballing brain. Again i hope he comes good but i have my doubts. Im hoping 3 or 4 quality additions around him will help him.

  8.

    Then get rid of Koeman.

You cant build a Football Club around 1 player. This is the problem with us as a Football Club, we want the manager to be an 'Everton Man', Ross is 'one of us' so he must play. Times are changing and hopefully for the good, Id hate us to sell Barkley if im honest, id like nothing more than him to reach his potential with us but not at the expense of us moving forward as a club.

  9. Stek

    Coleman. Williams. Mori. Baines

    Gana. McCarthy

    Lennon. Barkley. Valencia

    Lukaku

    And, same again please lads!

    This.

Im hoping we play like we did in the last 60 mins against Arsenal. I think if we do we have a great chance.

Liverpools main threats are Mane and Lallana. Agree with one of the above comments too that we need to get Mane fired up with a few tough challenges, he should really be banned for today after his lash out at Andy Carroll.

  10. The Watford game proved Barkley wasn't at fault for the way we have been playing, possibly most fans would agree that that was the worst Everton performance they've witnessed in 15 or more years, Koeman didn't drop Barkley to teach him a lesson he dropped him because for some reason only he could come up with, is McCarthy could do better job in that position than Barkley, he has quickly realised that he's made another monumental fuck up in picking a team.

Can you show any evidence that Valencia has not been match fit for let's say the last 10 games, I've looked but can't find anything you are referring to, unless it was August or early September maybe, he has trained like the rest of the team twice a day five days a week, and if a manager thought a player wasn't fit he would stick him in as many reserve games as possible to get his match fitness up.

He hasn't played him because he didn't rate him simple as that even when he was getting his cameo appearances the supporters could see he was making a difference but Koeman couldn't.

There was quite a few games under Martinez when we was as poor as we was in that match!

Barkley has been terrible this season, most fans will admit that, he needed to be dropped. This is part of the current problem, Martinez made it so regardless of how people played they would never be dropped. Koeman has changed that.

  11. Im much more confident now after the Arsenal Game as the players stepped up and proved they can perform. first 20 mins was awful and i agree with one of the comments above that the game could have been over if Arsenal would have been more clinical. If this was at Anfield id be dreading another hammering but at Goodison im quietly confident.

Liverpool have been fairly great all season, they are due a blip.

  12. And some people believe everything Koeman says.

Rubbish what you said about Valencia.

So your saying he was right to play McCarthy against Watford as the number 10.

And Barkley deserves to be dropped when the whole team are playing shit, and he's being made to play in away that doesn't suit his talent.

Wake up and smell the coffee mate.

I dont beleive everything Koeman says i just think he deserves time and credit when due. he is changin the way we play and a bad patch was bound to happen.

Maybe he took Barkley out to help him. He was playing poor and so was the team, maybe he needed to be taken out. a kick up the arse helped.

Rubbish what you said about Valencia- how?

McCarthy at no10 didnt work that was plain to see.

  13. The longer we keep him the worse he will get, he needs a top club now surrounded by top class players who are attack minded, next summer he might go for £20m.

At EFC he has no help whatsoever, 3 defensive midfielders !!. Hasn't got a cat in hell's chance.

But the bigger the club, the bigger the expectation and he wont get the same chances.

Im honestly torn over Barkley, id love him to come good but he frustrates the life out of me.

He wont go for £20m thats just silly, and whos to say we wont have more top class players here next season.

  14. To say Koeman was brave because of the 4 changes he made from the Watford game is probably the worst piece of sports journalism I've read this season.

    1) People on TT have been saying for weeks that he needed to start with Valencia after his cameo roles when coming off the bench, it didn't take a genius to see that he was turning games around, but Koeman couldn't see it.

    2) Jags for Mori is that really inspired management, not really either would have been as capable in that game due to the midfield putting a shift in, and giving the defence some respite, Jags struggles along with the rest of the defence when they are constantly under pressure for most of the game.

    3) The inclusion of Barkley, he shouldn't have been out the team in the first place, I don't think there would be many managers who would leave a talent like Barkley out there team, I know we haven't seen him at his best in recent months, but I put a lot of the blame for that with Koeman he has completely taken away his confidence, by firstly criticising him in public, and stifling his freedom to express his talent by playing him in positions were he becomes in affective, and in some ways coaching the creativity out of him, by wanting to change him instead of working with what he's got.

    4) Playing McCarthy in probably the only position we know he is capable of playing in, again is that brave management don't think so, play McCarthy in that role and that is what you get from him, stick him in midfield as your playmaker and he becomes a passenger, still cannot believe that Koeman thought he could play that role, that is inept management at its worst, which then created the hysteria we witnessed of people flagging of McCarthy and demanding he goes in January, when really it was Koeman who fucked up by dropping Barkley and expecting McCarthy to play that role, it isn't McCarthy who has taken Barry's position once fit for me he was always going to be an automatic choice, unfortunately it was Gana who has come into the team and played Barry out, love Barry but at his age it was always going to happen sooner rather than later.

    5) Playing Lennon instead of Delli or Mirallas was about the only brave or inspired decision he, that did pay off for me, but based on everything else he's done was that more luck than judgment.

To summarise Koeman for me is not a brave insightful manager who knows what he's doing far from it, it has taken him months to realise the things that people have been shouting for for a long time.

God help us with this man.

    What a ridiculous post.

Valencia hasnt been fully fit to start games until now, i think he has even confirmed that.

Barkley certainly deserved to be dropped and if that display is anything to go off it seemed to be the kick up the arse he needed.

McCarthy is only just fully fit too. the McCarthy we seen the other night hasnt been seen for 2 years now.

Some people will find fault in anything.

  15. Stones went for £47m and that was based on Potential and we bought him elsewhere with no emotional ties to the club. Everton may sell their best players at times but we sell high and i really cant see Bill letting Barkley go for anything less than £50m as he is a product of Everton. As much as he frustrates me and all players are replaceable, the reality is i really would hate to see Barkley play for another club. There is no chance we will sell him to Spurs and I cant imagine he would want to go. City or UTD maybe as he wouldnt need to relocate but London im not sure he seems the type.
