  1. But you don't know for certain that McGeady will get better. He's been terrible for us. He should be up to speed by now after coming in so fit during preseason. I think we've seen the best of him. It seems you rate McGeady over Lukaku which is a complete farce, price tag or not. Maybe financially he's a lower risk, but on the field he's a greater liability. His price was low for a reason.
  2. It was I who said it. The response from MC11 is what was funny about that, not necessarily what you said.
  3. Well, Merseyside IS one the most knowledgeable football fans in the country.
  4. Thanks for the update, mark. I've been wondering about Green. I noticed he hasn't made the bench in awhile. Would've rather him stay at Bayern and at least use their training facilities if he's not getting any game time.
  5. Generally, the show follows the book, but there are some differences for sure. Some people in the show are alive still when they should be dead according to the book. Not going to drop any names.
  6. Where is she posting them? So I'll know to stay away.
  7. The NASL gets a lot crap for being the second league, but they don't have a salary cap. A few big investors and I can see them poaching some stars from MLS sides.
  8. Blame MLS. They have a say in transfers as well, not just the team. I think Donovan would've definitely come here permanently if he could have. He lists himself as an Evertonian still on his twitter page.
  9. Roma would definitely be the worst to get of the bunch. They are a really good side.
  10. Just to add to this? Why does Donovan's retirement play into this? Maybe he doesn't want to play anymore. That's not an indicator of ability by any means.
  11. Dempsey had two decent seasons with Fulham and couldn't crack spurs lineup and left, so you counter your Howard argument right there. Dempsey isn't present for entire games either. They played in the same league this year, and Donovan was arguably the better player with 19 assists and Two players don't have to play in the same league to know which one is better though. You can tell by watching Donovan that he's just the better all around player. You can see it when they played on the field together on the field for the national team. I don't see how you can discount the national team when the world cup is considered one of the most competitive competitions in the world. Sorry, but Fulham was/is bad. Dempsey wouldn't have seen even the minor success that Donovan saw at Everton in 2 months. BTW, didn't Dempsey go back to Fulham and do absolutely nothing in his loan spell? You also seem to forget how MLS is set up in regards to transfers. The best player in the league is going to go at a premium. PL clubs aren't going to pay over the top for a player when they can get a comparable one at a cheaper price. All this wimpy talk just cracks me up. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
  12. Re: All this talk of playing in Europe and how it makes for a better player... when Dempsey retires, people will look back and see that Donovan has accomplished so much more in his career. I watch Seattle vs. LA in Seattle for semis of MLS cup this year. Dempsey complained so much and when he was fouled he stayed on the ground so long. He acts like he is owed something from the refs. It's annoying.
  13. Unfortunately, I think he'll be gone in the summer unless we win Europa. Fourth in the league is just too far away. Looking at the Fellaini transfer, we should get at least 27.5 mil for him.
  14. I'd want an upgrade on Howard, and Ruddy is by no means an upgrade.
  15. Yes, Donovan is the best for me as well. Dempsey hasn't contributed nearly as much as Donovan has for the national team and popularity of the game in the US. Dempsey also doesn't have a third of the work rate and vision that Donovan has. The only things Dempsey has over Donovan is the amount of tricks up his sleeve and is probably a better finisher, albeit not by much. They both have pretty lame attitudes sometimes though. I can't even compare Howard and Donovan because their positions are so different. I think if Donovan would've made the WC squad then he'd still be playing.
  16. I'd like to make one change. Most annoying poster(6) is millwallforever.
  17. One of the few times I'll agree with Brett on here. I think Delph would be excellent for us.
  18. I agree partly with what you're saying, but it's easy to forget that Chelsea and Spurs are two of the most notorious clubs when it comes to sacking managers early.
  19. 1. Favourite Poster: probably MC11 -- don't always agree, but I'm most entertained by his responses to others. 2. Most knowledgable Poster: MikeO 3. Funniest Poster: MC11 4. Poster you would most like to have a pint with: Matt -- seems nice enough, or markjazzbassist -- have similar interest in the national team 5. Poster you would throw in the Mersey: Brett 6. Most annoying Poster: Brett 7. Most clueless Poster: crusty 8. Most boring Poster: too boring to mention 9. The best WUM: Brett 10. Worst WUM: Brett 11. Best post of 2014: MC's "*queue violins*" post in response to Paddock when he was talking about how how he almost tears up when thinking about Everton -- wish I knew the thread. 12. Worst post of 2014: I'm still surprised everyday, so I'll hold off on this one.
  20. Rather see Oviedo (if fit) over McGeady. Also, rather give Jags the night off for one of the youngsters but not sure who.
  21. I'm not a fan of our politics or the two-party system here. I think that a lot of the "smaller" voices get left out. I think you'll find that this is common among the lot of us!
  22. Last year he was fighting for a contract. I think he has become too comfortable in his role with us, which seems to be untouchable now when he's fit. Martinez needs to sort him out, or he needs to leave him out.
